Maudie Mae Smith
Maudie Mae Smith, 93, of Abilene, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today at Sears Heritage Place Chapel with the Rev. Jim Considine officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Cisco and graduated from Cisco High School. She was also a graduate of Cisco Junior College. She was the widow of Charlie Smith, whom she married on Aug. 28, 1926, in Cisco. She lived in Sweetwater most of her life and moved to Roswell, N.M. in 1988, Lubbock in 1994, and finally Abilene in 1997. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Sweetwater.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlene Smith Birdwell of Abilene; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

M.H. ‘Mickey’ Wright
COLEMAN — M.H. “Mickey” Wright, 58, died April 23 in Ruidoso, N.M.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood with the Rev. Donald Scott officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman.
Mr. Wright was born in Ballinger and graduated from Brownwood High School. He won many state competitions in photography. He owned a computer software company in Dallas at the time of his death.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelly Richardson of Arlington; one son, Drew Wright of Dallas; and three grandchildren.

Ruth Cox
ARCHER CITY — Ruth Cox, 82, died Tuesday in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Aulds Funeral Home in Archer City with the Rev. Roger Deerinwater officiating. Burial will be in Archer City Cemetery.
Mrs. Cox was born in Barksdale. She was the widow of Raymond Cox, whom she married on Aug. 2, 1936, in Leuders. She had been an American Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer in Archer City for many years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rhoda-T.E.L. Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Alvin Raymond Cox of Archer City; one daughter, Iris Van Hemert of Wichita Falls; one brother, Ervin Bates of Baird; one sister, Mable Hansford of Granbury; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Olive Wynn
BRECKENRIDGE — Olive Wynn, 97, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at Breckenridge Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Kuhn officiating, directed by Melton Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
Ms. Wynn was born in McBade and graduated from San Marcus Baptist Academy where she was a vice chairperson. She moved to Breckenridge from Dallas in 1938, and worked as credit manager for Chemical Process Company. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include a number of cousins and friends.

Alfred L. Agnew
MORAN — Alfred L. Agnew, 95, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cole Farmer officiating. Burial will be in Moran Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home of Albany.
Mr. Agnew was born in Dothan. He was the widower of Vida Lee Thomas Agnew, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1922, in Bluff Branch. He was a rancher and was a lifelong area resident. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, James Rolland Agnew of Weatherford; one daughter, Judy Collinsworth of Albany; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Roy Burfield
COLEMAN — Roy Burfield, 61, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion, directed by Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman.
Mr. Burfield was born in Trickham and attended school in Coleman. He was an U.S. Army veteran. He married Billie Turner on April 1, 1955, in Santa Anna. He had lived in Abilene for 10 years and moved to Coleman where he had lived for the past 21 years. He was a plumber.
Survivors include his wife of Coleman; two sons, Randy Burfield of Kennedale and Ronny Burfield of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two brothers, Clifton “Stokey” Burfield of Brownwood and Henry Odell “Jack” Burfield of Coleman; one sister, Gertrude Winter of Brownwood; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Cecil Franklin Blanton
BROWNWOOD — Cecil Franklin Blanton, 58, died Wednesday.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blanket Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Camp officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Blanton was born in Coke County and lived most of his life in Brownwood. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two brothers, Rosco Blanton of Blanket and Preston Blanton of Brownwood; two sisters, Georgia Brennan of May and Linda Ryan of Brownwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wenona Herron
MERKEL — Wenona Herron, 76, died Wednesday in Abilene.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church with James McKee officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Mrs. Herron was born in Hawley. She was the widow of John Nolan Herron, whom she married on July 19, 1941 in Anson. A homemaker, she had worked for T.S. Lankford and Walls as a seamstress and as a sales clerk for Ben Franklin for a number of years. She was a member of the Merkel Cancer Support Group and a volunteer worker for the Merkel Senior Citizens. She was a Methodist and attended Calvary Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school at Golan.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Mac Herron of Abilene, Bobby Barbee of Fort Worth, and Buddy Lott of Combine; two daughters, Barbara Snodgrass of Abilene and Penny Vaughn of Merkel; two brothers, Adrian Price of Sweetwater and Eldon Price of Wink; three sisters, Anita Watson of Wink, Daisy Stevens of San Angelo, and Cora Isenburg of Merkel; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Stephen Lawrence Hart
Stephen Lawrence Hart, 37, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Holiday Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Durward Minor officiating, directed by Girdner-Brown Funeral Home of Abilene.
Mr. Hart was born in Torrance, Calif. and graduated from high school in San Pedro, Calif. He was a semi-professional basketball player with the Toronto Tornadoes before moving to Abilene where he was employed as an asbestos inspector for Pueblo Enterprises. He married Angela Dunn in Abilene in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; his mother, Jessie B. Hart of El Centro, Calif.; two daughters, Whitney Brown and Tidna Hart, both of Abilene; one son, Tyrus Hart of Abilene; four brothers, William Hart Jr. of Long Beach, Calif., Tommy Lee Hart of San Bernadino, Calif., and Billy Joe Hart and Larry Darnell Hart, both of San Pedro, Calif.; three sisters, Barbara Jean Hart of Palmdale, Calif., Yolanda Marie Williams of Memphis, Tenn., and Lynette Deon Hart of El Centro, Calif.

Donald Dean Letz
Donald Dean Letz, 61, of Abilene, died Thursday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. Jeff Zell officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Letz was born in Old Glory where he attended school. He married Kathleen Spitzer in Fort Worth in 1956 and moved to Abilene in 1963. He retired from McAlister, Inc. after 28 years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Sons of Herman Lodge 228.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; two sons, Jeffrey Mark Letz of Abilene and Ronald Craig Letz of Borger; one sister, Joyce Rinn of Fort Worth; three brothers, Jerry Letz and Charles Letz, both of Fort Worth, and Larry Letz of Abilene; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
