Mary Catherine Redlinger
Mary Catherine Redlinger, 83, of Abilene, died Friday at a local hospital
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 17, in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Dr. Caro Russell officiating, directed by Girdner-Brown Funeral Home of Abilene.
Mrs. Redlinger was born in Fort Worth and moved to Abilene as a child. She graduated from Abilene High School. She was active as a Junior Hostess in the Bluebonnet Brigade of the Abilene Chapter of the U.S.O. during World War II. She worked at the Abilene Public Library and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She had lived in Sherman Oaks, Calif. prior to returning to Abilene.
Survivors include two brothers, James F. Armstrong and Roy Hollingsworth of Abilene; and two sisters, Wanette Armstrong and Jean Hollingsworth of Abilene.

Dalton Edward Seals
BAIRD - Dalton Edward Seals, infant, died Monday in a local hospital.
Private graveside services were held Friday at the Belle Plain Cemetery with the Rev. Ricky Carstensen officiating, directed by Girdner-Brown Funeral Home of Abilene.
Survivors include parents, Lunden David Seals Jr. and Shari Ann Wuster Seals, both of Baird; brother, L.D. Seals III of Baird; sister, Valery Gonzales of Clyde; maternal grandparents, Wallace and Doris Wuster of Omaha, Neb.; and paternal grandparents, L.D. and Dalphany Seals of Baird.

Verna Laura Johnson
HASKELL - Verna Laura Johnson, 88, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, at Willow Cemetery in Haskell with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Haskell and graduated from Haskell High School. She also graduated from Baylor University School of Nursing in Dallas. She returned to Haskell from Arizona in 1937, and worked as the head nurse in the Knox County Hospital and later opened the Haskell Hospital. In 1939, she moved to Denton and began working at the North Texas University Hospital, from which she retired in 1960. She was the widow of Otis Johnson, whom she married in March, 1960, in Denton County. She returned to Haskell in 1994, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, James Harwell of Coppell; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Gary A. Elliott
HASKELL - Gary A. Elliott, 66, formerly of Lubbock, died Friday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 17, at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel in Lubbock with Gerald Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Mr. Elliott was born in Memphis. He married Christine Thompson on August 30, 1957, in Lubbock. He worked in the construction business until his retirement in 1985. He was a Lutheran.
Survivors include his wife of Haskell; two daughters, Debra S. Piseno of Ransom Canyon and Melinda Elliott of Lubbock; one son, Gary Alan Elliott of Lubbock; his mother, Edna Elliott of Georgetown; two brothers, Bob Elliott of Roundrock and Billy Elliott of Georgetown; two sisters, Judy Ballard of Georgetown and Maxine Boyd of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Nobia V. Porter
ROTAN - Nobia V. Porter, 89, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, May 17, in the Rotan First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home of Rotan.
Mrs. Porter was born in Commerce and was a longtime resident of Rotan. She married Wayne Porter on December 20, 1931, in Rotan. She was a teacher and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rotan.
Survivors include her husband of Rotan; one son, Wayne Porter Jr. of Georgetown; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be may to the Rotan First United Methodist Church or donor's favorite charity.

Addie Mae (Mrs. Louis) Schkade
ALBANY - Addie Mae (Mrs. Louis) Schkade, 80, died Saturday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 17, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don Loeschen officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schkade was born in Hamilton. She married Louis W. Schkade on Jan. 28, 1937, in Abilene. She worked with her husband in Albany Pipe and Supply, which they owned. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of Albany; three sons, Leslie Schkade of San Angelo, R.D. Schkade of Austin, and Harold Schkade of Albany; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Wayne Wade Howard
BALLINGER - Wayne Wade Howard, 71, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, in the Rains-Seale Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger with the Rev. Winford Gore officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger.
Mr. Howard was born in Bromide, Okla. He married Gay Jarrett on June 13, 1958, in San Angelo. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Ballinger Compress as a block foreman. He was a past member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Ballinger; three sons, Jeff Howard of Sweetwater, Lee Howard of Stanton, and Mike Howard of Ballinger; and two sisters, Imogene Tadsen of Conroe and Karen Wedge of Halton City; and four grandchildren.

Elaine Foote Strange
Elaine Foote Strange, 83, of Abilene died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with Dr. Mike Stedham officiating. Entombment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mrs. Strange was born in Jones County and grew up in Boyd Chapel, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Abilene in 1936 and retired from Grissom’s in 1982 after 33 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Walton Strange in 1978 in Abilene.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; four nieces, a nephew and several great-nieces and -nephews.

The body will be at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, until noon today.

Gerry Slaughter
Gerry Slaughter, 70, of Abilene died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Revs. Archie Echols and Kathryn Boren officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Slaughter was born in Newport and graduated from North Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in English. She taught in Houston and Abilene for a total of 15 years and later owned and operated Images Ladies Fashions in Abilene, where she lived for 29 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She married John O. Slaughter in 1950 in Olney.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Paul Slaughter of Fort Collins, Colo., and Scott Slaughter of Abilene; one daughter, Susan Elizabeth P8ckett of Berthoud, Colo. One sister, Elouise Baker of Fort Worth; and five grandchildren.

Hattie Hallman
Hattie Hallman, 98, of Abilene died Sunday at a local nursing center.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Revs. Ed Jackson and Mike Patterson officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 South.
Mrs. Hallman was born in Catahoula Parish, La., and moved to Abilene in 1932 from Post. She was a homemaker and a member of Wylie Baptist Church. She married Harvey Carl Hallman in Post; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Reid and Norma Dillard, both of Abilene, and Nell Dowhower of Colorado City; one brother, Owen Jenkins of Houston; one sister, Pearly Berry of Fremont, Calif.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
