Virginia Sue Hallmark
LORAINE — Virginia Sue Hallmark, 93, died Monday in a Weatherford care center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel in Colorado City with the Rev. Dan Marshall officiating. Burial will be in the Loraine Cemetery.
Mrs. Hallmark was born in Snyder, Okla., and had been a longtime resident of Loraine. She was the widow of Harry Goodwin Hallmark, whom she married on May 7, 1924, in Loraine. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Loraine.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Phillips of Weatherford; two sisters, Mary Coffee of Loraine and Mattie Neely of Washington; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Willie ‘Bill’ Maberry
HAMLIN — Willie “Bill” Maberry, 84, died Tuesday in Baytown.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 21, at McCaulley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Sedberry officiating. Burial will be in McCaulley Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home of Hamlin.
Mrs. Maberry was born in McCaulley, where she graduated from high school. She married Ray Maberry on Sept. 24, 1935, in Sweetwater. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Fisher County Home Demonstration Club. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband of Baytown; two daughters, Ann Byers of Long Lake, Minn. and Jill Goode of Baytown; one brother, M. R. Barton of Lubbock; one sister, June Hemphill of Ruidoso, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be after noon on Thursday with visitation from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jack B. Doty
Jack B. Doty, 80, of Abilene died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at North’s Funeral Home Chapel, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road, with Royce Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mr. Doty was born in Nugent. He served with the First Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the widow of Jean Wright Doty, whom he married on Feb. 1, 1947, in Abilene. He owned Doty Farm Equipment until his retirement in 1984, when he began farming in the Nugent area.
Survivors include one son, Paul Doty of Abilene; one daughter, Jackie Doty of Pacific Grove, Calif.; one brother, Mack Doty of Nugent; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be at 2025 Lytle Trail.

R.L. Murphy
CROSS PLAINS — R.L. Murphy, 87, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Cottonwood Cemetery with Joe Coppinger officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains.
Mr. Murphy was born in Virginia. He was the widow of Mary Eula Hays Murphy, whom he married in Walters, Okla. on Nov. 14, 1932. He was an oil field worker and a rancher.
Survivors include one daughter, Kara Gale Watson of Tuscola; one brother, Paul Murphy of Navasota; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Henrietta ‘Henry’ Gonzales
ANSON — Henrietta “Henry” Gonzales, 75, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 21, at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Oscar Del Rio officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Stamford, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson.
Mrs. Gonzales was born in Bastrop and had lived in Jones County since her marriage. She worked as a cook for the Sirloin 66 Café. She was active in the Guadalupanas and Cruisista at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Alice Silba of Baird, Vera Carrillo of Abilene, and Emma Martinez of Austin; three sons, Wally Gonzales of Anson, Ruben Gonzales of Stamford, and Paul Gonzales of Dallas; one brother, Victor Gonzales of Austin; 19 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Eleanor Edna Breed
Eleanor Edna Breed, 76, of Abilene, died Thursday in a local hospital.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Her body will be cremated. Arrangements were handled by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Breed was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to Abilene 14 months ago from Mesquite, Nev. She married Robert L. Breed in Las Vegas, Nev. on Feb. 23, 1946. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate in the WAVES. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; two sons, Michael B. Breed of Abilene and Patrick R. Breed of Santa Cruz, Calif.; one sister, Margery Snyder of Crete, Neb.; and two grandchildren.

Samuel Dale Doan
MERKEL — Samuel Dale Doan, 66, died Tuesday in Abilene.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Abundant Life Assembly of God with the Rev. Tim Wiebe officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel. The body was cremated.
Mr. Doan was born in Merkel and graduated from Merkel High School. He married Lora Carole Crawford in Las Vegas, Nev. on Feb. 17, 1962. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a guard at Missouri State Prison in Fordland, Mo. for eight years and as a communications installer for AT&T for 29 years. He moved back to Merkel in 1996, and attended Abundant Life Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife of Merkel; three daughters, Lora Ann Bowen of Portland, Ore., Sheryl Deanna Cole of Woodland, Wash., and Shawna Denise Neptune of Merkel; two sons, Rickey Lee Chambers of Dalton, Ga. and Steven DeWayne Doan of Modesto, Calif.; brothers, Alan Doan of Kansas City, Mo., Derwood Doan of Tuscola, Jack Doan of Salanis, Calif., Jimmy Doan of Merkel, and Joe Doan of Snyder; four sisters, Beth Cobaugh of Nob Noster, Md., Francis Hardy of Kissimmee, Fla., Maxine Lakovich of Friendswood, and Otilla Mayes of Merkel; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jesse Roy ‘J.R.’ Haynes
GARDENDALE — Jesse Roy “J.R.” Haynes, 83, formerly of Santa Anna, died Wednesday at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Ford and Kermit Sorrells officiating. Burial will be in Trickham Cemetery.
Mr. Haynes was born in Trickham where he attended school. He married Helen Virginia Dean in Santa Anna on Oct. 28, 1937. He was a farmer and a carpenter until his retirement, and also owned and operated The Pine Tree Nursery and Greenhouse. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Santa Anna.
Survivors include his wife of Gardendale; three daughters, Ginger Graham of Gardendale, Kay Hays of Austin, and Mary Bordeaux of San Francisco, Calif.; four sons, Roy Dean Haynes of Daingerfield, Jesse Ray Haynes of Fairfield, James Lyndon Haynes of Florence, and Kenneth Weldon Haynes of Fort Worth; one brother, George Haynes of Midland; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Frances Geraldine Flynn
STAMFORD — Frances Geraldine Flynn, 67, died Thursday.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at Fairview Cemetery with the Revs. Jack B. Davis Sr. and Bob Jones officiating, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mrs. Flynn was born in Gonzales and moved to Brady as a child. She was the widow of George Earl Flynn, whom she married on Oct. 2, 1949, in Aspermont. She was a waitress and a homemaker. She was a member of the Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, George Dean Flynn of Austin; one daughter, Georgette Collins of Stamford; one brother, Floyd Monk of Lampasas; two sisters, Marie Morgan of Rising Star, and Shirley Newman of Mullins; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
