Virgie ‘Bub’ Whitaker
Virgie “Bub” Whitaker, 77, formerly of Abilene, died Sunday in a Carrollton hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Newton officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Whitaker was born in the Pulltight Community in Jones County and attended schools in Iberis and Wylie. She had been a lifelong resident of the Abilene and Hawley area until moving to Dallas in 1990. She was the widow of Elmer Whitaker, whom she married in Abilene in 1943. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include three sisters, Eva Taylor of Abilene, Pearl Beaird of Dallas, and Jane Spivey of Fort Worth; one brother, Calvin Searcy of Hobbs, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Glenda Elliott Coltharp
Glenda Elliott Coltharp, 58, of Abilene, died Monday at her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. George Knight officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Sylvester Cemetery in Sylvester.
Mrs. Coltharp was born in Sweetwater and attended Midwestern State University where she earned her B.A.
She taught fourth grade in the Trent Independent School District for 23 years before retiring. She married Ed Coltharp on Sept. 10, 1960, in Sweetwater. She moved in Abilene in 1974, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; two sons, Curt Coltharp of Elm Valley Community and Glynn Coltharp of Euless; and her father, Glynn Elliott of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lucille Bosher Evans
Lucille Bosher Evans, 87, formerly of Abilene, died Sunday in a Wharton hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Rodney Watson officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Evans was born in Dothan where she attended school. She graduated from Cisco Junior College as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and had been employed at Hendrick Medical Center, West Texas Hospital, and Abilene State School before retiring in 1980. She was the widow of two husbands, Willie Clemon Bosher and Joe T. Evans. She was a member of Abilene Primitive Baptist Church. She had lived in Abilene for 58 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Billie L. Joiner of El Campo and Patricia Ann Barrow of Rockdale; one brother, Kenneth Glenn Jones of Eunice, N.M.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday, June 2, at the funeral home.

Mary Lee Gary
CISCO — Mary Lee Gary, 87, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, in the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Cross Plains. Burial will be in Admiral Cemetery.
Mrs. Gary was born in Callahan County. She was the widow of Loyd Benton Gary, whom she married on Oct. 23, 1927, in Baird. She was a homemaker and had been a member of the Cisco Calvary Baptist Church for 20 years.
Survivors include fours sons, Bill Gary of Cisco, A.B. Gary and J.L. Gary both of Farmington, N.M., D.A. Gary of Cross Plains, and Tommy Gary of Farrah, Okla.; four daughters, Raynell Duncan and Joyce Marton both of Cottonwood, Virginia Stocker of Bedford, and JoAnn Gray of Cisco; eight sisters; 30 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Franklin Delano Roberson
HICO — Franklin Delano Roberson, 66, died Tuesday at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Hico with the Rev. Glenda Whitehead officiating. Burial will be in the Clairette Cemetery.
Mr. Roberson was born in Putnam and lived most of his life in the Hico area. He married Linda Ruth Sanders in Glen Rose. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Methodist. He was a retired bonder from Bell Helicopter.
Survivors include his wife of Hico, two daughters, Pam Shadden of Huckabay and Glenda Sue Jones of Cranfills Gap; one stepdaughter, Michelle Reynolds of Lockhart; three stepsons, Leon Reynolds, Les Reynolds, and Kevin Reynolds all of Hico; two sisters, Dorothy Reed of Clairette and Janelle Burkeen of Alexander; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Frances Clare LeBleu
KILLEEN — Frances Clare LeBleu, 67, formerly of Rotan, died Saturday in a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, in the Weathersbee Funeral Home Chapel in Rotan with the Rev. Joe Rich officiating. Burial will be in the Belvieu Cemetery.
Mrs. LeBleu was born in Sweetwater and was a 1948 graduate of Denton High School. She also graduated from Texas Women’s College. She was the widow of Dr. Bennie LeBleu, whom she married in 1954. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Magna Carte Dame, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Delta Gamma, and Wildflower Quilt Guild of Killeen. She taught in the Fisher County schools for over 27 years.
Survivors include three sons, David Alan LeBleu of Austin, Stephen Anthony LeBleu of Killeen, and Richard Andre LeBleu of Sweetwater; one daughter, Rebecca Ann LeBleu of Killeen; one brother, Dr. Claude B. Tate of Temple; one sister, Carolyn Hawthorn of Houston; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.

Nettie A. Williford
COMANCHE — Nettie A. Williford, 75, formerly of Odessa, died Monday in a Brownwood nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with the Rev. Richard Ivey officiating. Burial will be in the Mercer Gap Cemetery.
Mrs. Williford was born in Comanche. She married Durward V. Williford on Oct. 14, 1945 in DeLeon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Comanche First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Brownwood; one daughter, Barbara Tate of Mexia; one son, Victor Williford of Odessa; three sisters, Frances Carroll and Modelle Townsend both of Brownwood, and Jessie Lee Day of Odessa; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Cecil Keeney
SWEETWATER — Cecil Keeney, 62, died Sunday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home in Sweetwater with Larry Fluitt officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at Brown Ranch Cemetery in Coleman County.
Mr. Keeney was born in Coleman. He married Barbara Snider on May 5, 1961, in Brownwood. He worked for the Texas State Highway Department in the maintenance department and was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Sweetwater; one son, Greg Keeney of Abilene; four sisters, Betty Alford, Charlsie Parker, and Patsy Martin all of Abilene, and Billie Moore of Lubbock; one brother, Donald Keeney of Santa Anna; one grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

C.A. ‘Pete’ Jackson
GORDON — C.A. “Pete” Jackson, 78, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 3, at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the New Gordon Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.
Mr. Jackson was born in Gordon. He graduated from Gordon High School and attended Ranger College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He retired from Lone Star Gas Company after 39 years and had worked as a pipeline pumper. He was affiliated with the Gordon First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Johnnie Joe Jackson of Gordon and Monty D. Jackson of Navasoto; four sisters, Flossie Elmore of Ranger, Katherine McKinzey of Lubbock, and Betty Jo Bryant and Melba Jean Jackson both of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
