Douglas H. Fairbanks Sr.
CISCO - Douglas H. Fairbanks Sr., 53, Cisco Chief of Police, died Wednesday in an Eastland hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry Grantz officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home of Cisco.
Chief Fairbanks was born in Cranberry Lake, N.Y. He married Joyce Carnes Fairbanks on Oct. 3, 1964 in El Paso. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He graduated from El Paso Community College with a degree in Law Enforcement and was with the El Paso Police Department until his retirement after 22 years. He served as Detective Sgt. and Commander of the Crisis Management Team. He moved to Cisco nine years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Cisco; two sons, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. of El Paso and Walter Fairbanks of Cisco; one daughter, Jennifer Powell of Baird; three brothers, Gary Fairbanks of Phoenix, N.Y., Karl Fairbanks of Penniville, N.Y., and Dale Fairbanks of Fulton, N.Y.; two sisters, Janice Soble and Bonnie Mahon both of Syracuse, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty E. Mahanay
Betty E. Mahanay, 68, of Abilene, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Alvarado Church of Christ in Alvarado with Craig Tappe and Bill Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Alvarado, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Mahanay was born in Greenville and graduated from high school in Venus. She graduated from Tarrant County Junior College and attended Abilene Christian University, where she hooded her granddaughter at her graduation. She married Calvin Mahanay in Alvarado on Dec. 30, 1949. She had worked for the Texas Highway Department and had been self-employed in the Metrin Skin Care Program. She was a Bible class teacher in the Southern Hills Church of Christ, and had been active in the Campfire Girls as a leader and also in 4-H activities. She had moved to Abilene seven years ago.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; one son, Joe B. Mahanay of Fort Worth; two daughters, Cynthia Maldonado of Burleson and Sandra Merck of Abilene; four brothers, Vernon Combs of Keene, Leroy Combs of Rockwall, Odell Combs of Grapevine, and Bill Combs of Abilene; one sister, Joanna Combs of Keller; and three grandchildren.

James 'Jim' W. Zumwalt
James "Jim" W. Zumwalt, 78, of Abilene, died Thursday in a local hospital
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Bradshaw Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.
Mr. Zumwalt was born in Brady. He moved to Abilene in 1996. He married Margaret Bagwell in Artesia, N.M. on Aug. 14, 1951. He was a diesel mechanic for West Tex Equipment in Midland for 25 years. He was Pentecostal.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, William Ray Zumwalt of Midland; three daughters, Cathy Zumwalt and Joanna Lewis both of Abilene, and Shirleen Zumwalt of Gatesville; one brother, Andrew Zumwalt of Killeen; one sister, June Parlament of Seminole, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Calvin Alonzo Noble Sr.
Calvin Alonzo Noble Sr., 82, formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday in a Wylie, TX. Nursing home.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Noble was born in Hartford, Conn., and graduated from high school in Kerens. He retired as a Chief Master Sgt. from the U.S. Air Force in 1965 after 26 years' service. He was the widower of Eddie Vera "Bee" Inmon Noble, whom he married in Corsicana on Aug. 1, 1940. He moved to Abilene in 1968 and was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Calvin Alonzo Noble Jr. of San Jose, Calif.; one daughter, Jan Hitchcock of Plano; one brother, William G. Noble of San Antonio; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Arthur Mueller
STAMFORD - Arthur Mueller, 77, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Jesse Morton, Mike Stedham, and J.C. Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Cemetery, directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mr. Mueller was born in Stamford. He was the widower of Elizabeth Davis Mueller, whom he married on May 6, 1947 in Stamford. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a lifetime resident of Stamford, and owned/operated the Mueller Power Tong Service until his retirement in 1988. He was a deacon in the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Boykin of Petty; two sons, Larry Mueller and Ronnie Mueller both of Stamford; one brother, Edwin Mueller of Stamford; one sister, Esther Baumbach of Stephenville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Eula Davidson
BROWNWOOD - Eula Davidson, 94, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Duren Cemetery in Mills County with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Davidson was born in Maysfield and attended school in Mt. Olive in Mills County. She had been a resident of Brownwood since 1943. She was the widow of George John Davidson, whom she married on Feb. 21, 1943 in Brownwood.
Survivors include two brothers, Bert Weathers and Alvis Weathers, both of Brownwood; one sister, Violet Carter of Brownwood; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Gladys Geraldine Barron
KEENE - Gladys Geraldine Barron, 77, died Wednesday.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Sabanno Cemetery with Donald Drake officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star.
Mrs. Barron was born in Eastland County. She was the widow of J.R. Barron, whom she married on Dec. 13, 1940 in Rising Star. She lived most of her life in Eastland and Callahan County. She was a nurse's aide and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Lena Scott; one daughter, Jan Pitts of Cleburne; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Tomasa Medina Arredondo
Tomasa Medina Arredondo, 83, of Abilene, died Thursday at a local nursing center.
Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. David Matz officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery in Haskell, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 south.
Mrs. Arredondo was born in Brady and moved from Haskell to Abilene in 1982. She was the widow of Demesio Arredondo, whom she married on Feb. 12, 1934 in Anson. She was a homemaker and a member of St. George Catholic Church in Haskell.
Survivors include one son, Richard Arredondo of Abilene; one daughter, Lydia Rodriguez of Abilene; one stepson, Felipe Arredondo of Haskell; two brothers, Jessie Medina and Alonzo Medina both of Abilene; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

John Cecil Lilly
John Cecil Lilly, 70, of Abilene, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 20, at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Revs. Burtis Williams and David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel.
Mr. Lilly was born in Clinton, Okla. and moved to Taylor County as a child. He grew up in the Shep area and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1948. He had lived in Abilene about 51 years. He married Patsy Ruth Clark on April 23, 1954 in Abilene. He worked for Contract Paving Company in Tye for 35 years as a mechanic and had worked for Morris Ready Mix and Thornton's Motors where he was a shop superintendent. He was a Baptist and an U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; two daughters, Pamela Light of Tuscola and Tony Lilly of Abilene; one sister, Ida Pearl Reid of Lawn; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
