EASTLAND — Lea Wright, 72, died Sunday at her home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marc Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wright was born in Tipton, Okla., and was a member of First Christian Church. She married James Wright in 1943.
Survivors include her husband of Eastland; one daughter, Jeannie Walker of Eastland; one son, Jim Wright of Eastland; one brother, Clint Humphreys of Longview; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.

Raymond Jaramillo
Raymond Jaramillo, 52, of Abilene, died Monday in a local hospital.
Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in the Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with the Rev. David Matz officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Jaramillo was born in Abilene and attended Abilene High School. He was a self-employed roofer and a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa Jaramillo of Abilene; his mother, Cecilia Jaramillo of Abilene; two sons, Peter Jaramillo and David Jaramillo both of Abilene; two daughters, Monique Jaramillo and Miranda Jaramillo both of Abilene; one brother, Jesse Jaramillo of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Ann Robreno of Mabank; four grandchildren; a niece and three nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Opeal O. Wiggins
Opeal Wiggins, 83, of Abilene, died Monday in a local hospital
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Wylie First Baptist Church with Mike Patterson and Oscar Fanning officiating. Burial will be in the Iberis Cemetery, directed by North’s Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Wiggins was born in Taylor County and had lived in the Iberis Community for 20 years before moving to Abilene in 1952. She married William K. Wiggins on April 16, 1933 in Merkel. She had worked at Hendrick Hospital and was a member of the Wylie Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; two sons, William K. Wiggins Jr. of Abilene and James Wiggins of Amarillo; two daughters, Delores Lang of Austin and Darlene White of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Billy Wayne Beall of Bandon, Ore.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Era Ellen Ellis
Era Ellen Ellis, 84, of Abilene and formerly of Prairie Grove, Ark., died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Prairie Grove with Dr. John King officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Fayetteville, Ark. Local arrangements were under the direction of Abilene Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Mullin, TX, and moved to Abilene from Prairie Grove 2 1/2 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Prairie Grove.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Jackson of Abilene; one son, Billy Don Ellis of Farmington, Ark.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Elizabeth Lary Waskon
HASKELL — Elizabeth Lary Waskon, 93, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Holden-McCauley Funeral Home in Haskell with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at the Snyder Cemetery in Snyder with her goddaughters, Kathleen Lawson and Nancy Fuller, officiating.
Ms. Waskon was born in Snyder. She taught school for a time in Jal, N.M. and moved to Snyder, where she worked as an office assistant for the FHA Department of Agriculture for over 30 years. She taught Sunday school for many years at the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two goddaughters, Kathleen Lawson of Austin and Nancy Fuller of Bastrop; and friend Ruby Smith of Haskell.

Mary Hubbard
COLEMAN — Mary Hubbard, 58, died Tuesday at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at the Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with the Revs. Dick Schultz and Dan Hoover, and Bro. Charles Hubbard officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman.
Mrs. Hubbard was born in Runnels County and attended school in San Angelo. She was the widow of A.L. “Tex” Hubbard, whom she married on Aug. 24, 1957 in Coleman. She had lived in Coleman since 1957 and had previously been employed as the assistant manager at Baby’s Barbecue. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. In 1995 and 1996 she was named a “Famous Poet” by the executive committee of the Famous Poet’s Society.
Survivors include one son, Charles Hubbard of Bangs; one daughter, Rebecca Hubbard of Coleman; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Charlie Robertson Cathey
WAXAHACHIE — Charlie Robertson Cathey, 91, died Monday after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Granger Cemetery in Granger, TX.
Mrs. Cathey was born near Granger to a family of American pioneers and early Texas settlers. She was the widow of James Marion Cathey. She and her husband operated businesses in Waxahachie and Midlothian and, after living in Midlothian for 30 years, she moved to Arlington and then Hurst. She was a member of the Midlothian First Baptist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Cameo Society.
Survivors include three daughters, Evelyn Hosford of Hurst, Nancy Bowen of Plano and Patsy Combs of Abilene; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to donor’s favorite charity.

Orval Slaughter
EDMONSON — Orval Slaughter, 76, died Sunday at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Plainview with the Rev. A.C. Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery.
Mr. Slaughter was born in Quanah and was raised in Plainview. He was the widower of Jewell Aleen Slaughter, whom he married on Nov. 26, 1976 in Edmonson. He coached Little League Baseball for many years and worked as a welder at Franklin Bains Repair Shop in Edmonson until retirement. He was a member of the Edmonson Lions Club and the American Legion.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Slaughter of Cisco and Everett Oscar Slaughter of Fort Worth; three stepsons, Charles DeGraff of Tucson, Ariz., Andy DeGraff of Plainview, and Don DeGraff of Greeley, Colo.; and scores of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sandra Bates Stephens
STEPHENVILLE — Sandra Bates Stephens, 54, formerly of Stamford, died Sunday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Highland Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. John Erwin officiating, directed by Kinney Funeral Home of Stamford.
Mrs. Stephens was born in Fort Worth. She worked as a child care provider in Stephenville.
Survivors include two sons, Dewayne Stephens of Stephenville and Scott Stephens of Casper, Wyo.; one sister, Patsy Meyers of Stamford; two grandchildren; and one nephew.
