Ruth Allene Hardegree
Ruth Allene Hardegree, 73, of Abilene, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at the Woodlawn Church of Christ with Claude Parrish officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at the Colorado City Cemetery, directed by North’s Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Hardegree was born in Rising Star and raised in Colorado City. She worked for the Texas Highway Department and J.C. Penney. She married Kenneth L. Hardegree on Oct. 19, 1946 in Colorado City. She moved to Abilene in 1968 and worked for Abilene National Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1988 as an Executive Vice President. She was a member of the Woodlawn Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; two sons, Eric Hardegree and Mark Hardegree; her mother, Vada Woodell of Fort Worth; three sisters, Eva Liles of Midland, Alma Brown of Fort Worth, and Helen Todd of Houston; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today at the Funeral Home.

Louise Sanders
CLYDE — Louise Sanders, 82, formerly of Fair Lawn, N.J., died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services are tentatively planned for Tuesday, July 6, at the Young Cemetery in the Batesville-Charlotte area of Arkansas, directed by Bailey Funeral Home of Clyde.
Mrs. Sanders was born in Charlotte, Ark. She was the widow of Ira C. Sanders, whom she married on June 22, 1935 in Charlotte, Ark. They lived in Chicago, Ill., Fort Wayne, Ind., and Fair Lawn, N.J., before retiring in Clyde in 1981. She was a housewife and mother, and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Ira Clarence Sanders of Thousand Oaks, Calif. and Larry C. Sanders of Abilene; one brother, William Baker of Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Eva Young of Tuckerman, Ark.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Big Country Squadron of the Confederate Air Force, Patriot’s Plaza Memorial Project.

Kenneth E. Pruett
Kenneth E. Pruett, 78, of Abilene, died Wednesday at a local nursing center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. Oscar Fanning officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Pruett was born in Staff in Eastland County and attended Ranger High School. He moved to Abilene from Sweetwater in 1942. He married Fay Nell “Suzie” Jackson in Eastland on Feb. 9, 1942. He was a railroad clerk with the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring after 49 years. He was a member of the Texas Railroad Clerks Union and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, Kendall Pruett of Abilene; two daughters, Myra Mann of Merkel and Linda Habenicht of Waco; one brother, Elzie Pruett Jr. of Ranger; two sisters, Ima Mae Johnston of Ranger and Dollie Dean of Stamford; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Robert L. Hayes
Robert L. Hayes, 68, of Abilene, died Thursday in a local hospital.
The body was cremated and a private memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by North’s Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Hayes was born in Chicago, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 until retirement in 1968. He married Jo Ellen Thornton in Kingsville in 1965. He was in civil service in Kingsville for 15 years. He moved to Abilene in 1993.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; two daughters, Terri Cress of Abilene and Micky Lynn Sikes of San Antonio; one son, Michael Lee Hayes of Seattle, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Elsie Lecroy
LORAINE — Elsie Lecroy, 67, formerly of Roscoe, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in the Loraine Cemetery with the Rev. Glenda Johnson officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lecroy was born in Crockett. She was the widow of Neal Lecroy, whom she married in 1946 in Colorado City. She had been a resident of Loraine for 16 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Lorena Turnbow of Colorado City; three sons, Rocky Lecroy of Fayetteville, N.C., Jerry Lecroy of Sweetwater, and David Lecroy of Denton; five brothers, Lee Brown and James Brown both of Los Angeles, Calif., Bill Brown of Phoenix, Ariz., Joe Brown of Show Low, Ariz., and David Brown of Reno, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Victor Carroll Murphree
ROTAN — Victor Carroll Murphree, 70, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Revs. Werth Mayes and Larry Holder officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home of Rotan.
Mr. Murphree was born in Fisher County. He married Wanda Knight in Roby in 1946. He attended John Tarleton College, was a veteran, and was a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Fisher County RV Club.
Survivors include his wife of Rotan; his mother, Effie Murphree of Rotan; one son, Randy Murphree of Rotan; two daughters, Kathy Wells of Austin and Donna Chick of Abilene; one half-brother, Roy Phillips of Ocean Side, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ederina G. Bailey
STAMFORD — Ederina G. Bailey, 102 of Midland and formerly of Stamford, died Tuesday at her granddaughter’s residence in Midland.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at the Stamford Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Revs. Floyd Chenault and Jessie Hooper officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Groesbeck. She was the widow of Memory Bailey, whom she married in Stamford in 1945. She was a housekeeper and a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church.
She is survived by nine grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-great-grandchildren.

Ina Mae Matheny
ROCHESTER — Ida Mae Matheny, 91, of Lubbock and formerly of Haskell County, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Rochester Church of Christ with John Greeson and Robert Matheny officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery, directed by Mansell-Smith Funeral Home of Knox City.
Mrs. Matheny was born northwest of Rule and graduated from Rule High School. She attended Hardin Simmons College. She was the widow of H.L. Matheny, whom she married on March 22, 1929 in Rule. She was the Rochester postmaster for some time and later worked in the bank. She and her husband lived in Rochester, Austin, Andrews, Bayard, NM, and Anthony where he pastored churches. She was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Mary Sue Henry of Amarillo; five nieces; and 16 nephews.

Riddle Melbert Allen
LAWN — Riddle Melbert Allen, 77, died Thursday in an Abilene Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, in the Dewey Cemetery with the Rev. Price Mathieson officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mr. Allen was born in Lawn and was a lifelong resident. He worked 44 years for Taylor County Precinct 4 and retired in 1991 as a foreman. Melbert Allen Road in the Lawn area was named in his honor following his retirement. He married Pearl M. Eubanks on June 15, 1946, in Abilene. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Lawn; one son, Larry Allen of San Antonio; one daughter, Mary Anne Graves of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Homer Lee Allen of Buffalo Gap; two sisters, Inez Gregg of Abernathy and Johnnie Crabb of Roy, Wash.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Beulah Mae Martin
BANGS — Beulah Mae Martin, 87, died Thursday in a Goldthwaite nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood with the Rev. Kenneth Green officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Martin was born in Winchell and was lifelong resident of Brown County. She was the widow of E.C. “Emmitt Clifton” Martin, whom she marred on July 10, 1973 in Dublin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, George Farris of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews including Brenda and Darrell Mobley of Bangs.
