Willard Carl “Bill” Meador
Willard Carl Meador, 67, of Lake of the Pines, died June 15 in Louisiana.
Memorial services were June 19 in Lakeview Baptist Church in Ore City, directed by East Texas Funeral Home of Longview.
Mr. Meador was born in Burnt Branch near Cross Plains and graduated from Cross Plains High School. He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War and worked as a professional truck driver. He moved to Lake of the Pines about 15 years from Fort Worth. He was a volunteer at Dalton’s Corner community center for four years. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Ore City and helped deliver meals to shut-ins.
Survivors include his wife, Maude Teague Meador of Lake of the Pines; three children, Loyd Zane Meador, Shelley Jones and Gregory Jones, all of the Lake of the Pines area; two brothers, James E. Meador of Baird and Thelbert O. Meador of the Rising Star area; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Lakeview Baptist Church in Ore City or Gideon Society.

Virginia Ione Daniel
COMANCHE — Virginia Ione Daniel, 58, died Wednesday at her residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with Gerald Burns officiating. Burial will be in the Tolliver Cemetery near Lamkin, TX.
Mrs. Daniel was a lifelong resident of Comanche and was the valedictorian of the 1959 graduating class. She attended Tarleton State University. She had been the office manager for Goodson Insurance Agency for the past 25 years. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority where she had served on the Circle of Life Committee and had held many Chapter and State offices. She was a past District President of the Delta Lambda Chapter and past officer of the Federation of Insurance Women of Texas. She was the first woman president of the Comanche Chamber of Commerce and served several times as a board member and on all committees. She was named Comanche Woman of the Year in 1992 and was a member of the Southside Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her mother, Nadine Daniel of Comanche; one brother, Joe Ray Daniel of Comanche; several nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Lunch for the family will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p. m. today in the ESA Garden Center. Memorials may be made to the ESA Scholarship Fund or the CCS Hospice, P.O. Box 389, Dublin, TX 76446.

Laura Boyles Freeman
Laura Boyles Freeman, 101, of Abilene, died Friday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4, in Coleman Cemetery with Jimmy Montgomery officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Baird and graduated from Cross Plains High School. She attended CIA Finishing School (now Texas Women University) in Denton. She was the widow of Cecil Freeman, whom she married in Baird in 1920. She was a homemaker and a member of the Coleman First Christian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Celia Gent of Abilene; one sister, Patsy Daley of Midland; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Sullivan Ross Walker Jr.
BRECKENRIDGE - Sullivan Ross Walker Jr., 84, died Thursday at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Johnny Miller and Larry Henize officiating, directed by Morehart Mortuary of Breckenridge. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Walker was born in Hamlin and grew up in Breckenridge, where he graduated from high school. He also graduated from Tarleton State University. He was an architect in Fort Worth for 35 years before retiring 18 years ago and moving back to Breckenridge, where he was a rancher. He served in the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers during World War II. He married Inez Hardwick on Sept. 17, 1976 in Fort Worth. He was a Methodist and a member of the Breckenridge Club. He was a former member of the Hospital Board.
Survivors include his wife of Breckenridge; one brother, John Walker of Breckenridge; one niece; one nephew; and three cousins, including Jane Guitar of Abilene.
Memorials may be made to the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center, The First United Methodist Church or donor's favorite charity, and may be left with the funeral home.

Daniel J. Jackson
WAUPUN, WI - Daniel J. Jackson, 18, formerly of Abilene, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Mr. Jackson was born in Temple. He moved to Waupun in 1993. He was an avid artist.
Survivors include his mother, Donna Goode of Waupun; twin sons, Dylan and Dakota Garb of Pardeeville; one brother, Paul Romero of Midland; three sisters, Maria Hinijosa, Cathy Romero, and Cristina Gonzales, all of Abilene; paternal grandparents, Terry and Lela Carpenter of Dallas; maternal grandfather, Eugene Goode of Buckholtz; and maternal grandmother, Jerry Walker of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun.

Eunice C. Pierce
CROSS PLAINS - Eunice C. Pierce, 99, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4, at the Cross Plains Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Lenz officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains.
Mrs. Pierce was born in Callahan County. She was the widow of Marvin Pierce, whom she married in Cross Plains in 1919. She was a bookkeeper.
Survivors include one son, David Pierce of Scroggins; one sister, Juanita Hagen of Roseburg, Ore.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

J.T. Watts
J.T. Watts, 92, a longtime resident of the Abilene area, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with the Revs. Oscar Fanning and Mike Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
Mr. Watts was born in Cleveland County, Ark. and had lived in the Abilene area since 1925. He married Juanita Maxwell in Caps on Oct. 16, 1932. He had been a dairy farmer, a wheat farmer, and a rancher. At one time he was greenskeeper at the Abilene Country Club and had been a director of the Federal Land Bank Association of Roby for 19 years. He was a member of the Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class of the Wylie Baptist Church and also a member of the Wylie Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; two sons, J.T. Watts Jr. of Riverside, Idaho and Denny William Watts of Ruston, La.; one brother, W.P. Watts of Abilene; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday, July 5, at the funeral home.

Herbert G. Sanders
Herbert G. Sanders, 87, of Abilene died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 12 p.m. Monday, July 5, at North Park Assembly of God with the Rev. Sam Arp officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Sweetwater Cemetery, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home of Abilene.
Mr. Sanders was born in Weinert. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the widower of Irene Sanders. He was a service station operator and a farmer. He was a member of the North Park Assembly of God.
Survivors include three daughters, Rosie Mary Morquecho of Sand Spring, Okla., Ruby Lee Czarnecki of Hillsboro, and Pearl Lindsley of Centerville, Mi.; two sons, Charles Herbert Sanders of North Richland Hills and Lee Roy Sanders of Columbia, Mo.; one brother, J.W. Sanders of Sweetwater; four sisters, Ammie Newton of Sweetwater, and Oma Lee Farris, Elva Williams, and Dola Williams, all of Breckenridge; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Alice Emma Tessier
CLYDE - Alice Emma Tessier, 95, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 5, at the Clyde Cemetery with the Rev. H.B. Terry officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home of Clyde.
Mrs. Tessier was born near Pflugerville and had been a resident of Abilene since 1940. She was the widow of Dewey A. Tessier. She was a member of Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church, the Eastern Star, and the Beauceants. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Harper of Abilene; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
