Ruth Garrett
Ruth Garrett, 91, died Sunday in a local care center.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, in Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth with Dr. Tom Urrey officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. She will not be in-state in Abilene.
Ms. Garrett was born in Merkel and raised in Fort Worth. She had lived in San Angelo a few years prior to moving to Abilene. She was a writer and a poet, and had travel extensively. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Frances Hughes of Abilene; and one niece, Ann Hargrove of Washington, D.C.

L.R. Steelman
L.R. Steelman, 76, a 40 year resident of Abilene, died Sunday in a Big Spring hospital.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Kennedy officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. He will not be in-state.
Mr. Steelman was born in Hico where he graduated from high school prior to finishing four years of schooling in the U.S. Navy. He served as a chief hospital corpsman during World War II until his retirement from the Navy. He also retired from the Borden Milk Company where he was a supervisor. He married Marjorie Cambron in Seattle, Wash. in 1945. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and Sons of Herman.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; two sons, Leon Rudolph Steelman of Abilene; one daughter, Leona Reba Gomez of Chapel Hill, Tenn.; one brother, Cleo Steelman of Calif.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Glenna M. Pietzsch
ROSCOE Glenna M. Pietzsch, 68, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with the Revs. Glenn Dittmer and Charles Addington officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at Lindale Cemetery in Bowie with Dr. Larry Cox officiating.
Mrs. Pietzsch was born in Montague County. She married LeRoy Pietzsch on April 20, 1963, in Roscoe. She graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in Accounting. She had lived in Roscoe since 1960 and was a homemaker. She was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband of Roscoe; one brother, Frank Kilcrease of Lubbock; and one sister, Louise Rosendahl of Wichita Falls.

Miriam Baker
CLYDE Miriam Baker died Sunday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at the Lubbock City Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home of Clyde.
Ms. Baker was born in Delta County and had been a resident of Clyde for 20 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her mother, Verne Baker of Clyde; three brothers, Charles Baker and Hershel Baker both of Lubbock, and George Chuggy Baker of Round Rock; and two sisters, Helen Perrin of Clyde and Jo Ann Sepp of Redlands, Calif.

Charles Garrison
BROWNWOOD Charles F. Garrison, 86, died Sunday at a Bangs nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, in Rocky Creek Cemetery in Brown County with the Rev. Richard Hetzel officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home.
Mr. Garrison was born in West Plains, Miss., and moved to Brownwood in 1985. He was a member of Lake Brownwood United Methodist Church. He married Vivian Lessiston in 1946 in Lovington, N.M.; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one brother, Seth Garrison of Odessa; two sisters, Marie Harper of Fort Worth and Sarah Tharp of Houston; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Homer T. Parson
CROSS PLAINS Homer T. Parson, 86, of Rising Star, died Sunday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Pioneer Cemetery with Dwaine Clower officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Pioneer Baptist Church.
Mr. Parson was born in Brown County. He was the widower of Lillie Mae Allen Parson, whom he married on June 15, 1939 in Hereford. He was a farmer and a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Parson of Friona and Homer Parson of Cross Plains; three daughters, Helen Guyn of Rockwell, Billie Pelton of Amarillo, and Carol Neal of Monahans; one brother, Thomes Parson II of Friona; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Clayton J. Corder
SNYDER Clayton J. Corder, 22, of Abilene and formerly of Albuquerque, N.M., died Sunday following an accident.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at the First Baptist Church in Rio Rancho, N.M., with Si Budagher, Billy Bob White, and the Warrior Ministry Team officiating, directed by Vista Verde Mortuary and Memorial Park. Burial will be in Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho, N.M. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Abilene.
Mr. Corder was born in Las Cruces, N.M. He was the starting goalkeeper for the conference championship soccer team for Hardin-Simmons University.
Survivors include his parents, Jack H. II and Paula Corder of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Vanessa Corder of Albuquerque, N.M.; one half-sister, Laurie Marbas of Lubbock; grandmothers, Frances Nickols of Las Cruces, N.M. and Virginia Corder of Lubbock; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rondle Gene Fry
CISCO Rondle Gene Fry, 60, died Sunday in an Abilene nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco with the Rev. Ronnie Shackelford officiating, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home of Cisco.
Mr. Fry was born in Coryell County. He married Thelma Murriel Ward in 1979. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Leon Valley Industries in Carbon.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; his mother, Margaret Cozart of Abilene; two sons, Gerald Fry of Houston and Rondle Fry Jr. of La.; two daughters, Deborah Fry and Dianna Noel, both of La.; one brother, Charles Fry of Greenville, S.C.; two sisters, Stella Louise Fechner of Houston and Linda Byrd of Abilene; and nine grandchildren.

Troy Ray T.J. Abbe Jr.
LAWN Troy Ray T.J. Abbe Jr., 25, died Sunday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Revs. Price Mathieson and Larry Baird officiating. Burial will be in McBee Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mr. Abbe was born in Abilene and moved to Lawn in 1983. He graduated from Jim Ned High School in 1992 and attended Cisco Junior College for two years. He had worked at Eagle Aviation since 1995 and was a member of the Lawn First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Troy and Linda Abbe of Lawn; one brother, Billy Abbe of Lawn; paternal grandmother, Margaret Abbe of Clyde; maternal grandparents, Billy and Charlene Stephens of Tuscola; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Fund, Lawn, TX 79530.

William Murry Cowsert
ANSON William Murry Cowsert, 37, died Saturday in Abilene.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Hope Cemetery with Pete Lollar officiating, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson.
Mr. Cowsert was born in Anson and had moved to Abilene two years ago, where he worked for Abilene Auction and Max Hagler. He married Debora Meadow on Feb. 14, 1999 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one brother, James Cowsert of Anson; his father and stepmother, Monte and Bernice Cowsert of Sonora; two stepsons, Jason Barron of Clyde and Jacob Barron of Abilene; one stepsister, Missy Lockaby; and three step-grandchildren.
