Billy Joe Harvey
SANTA ANNA - Billy Joe Harvey, 77, died Thursday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Santa Anna First United Methodist Church with the Revs. R.J. Elkins and Kermit Sorrells officiating. Burial will be in the Santa Anna Cemetery, directed by Walker Funeral Home of Coleman.
Mr. Harvey was born in Santa Anna. He was the widower of Doris Evelyn Bible Harvey, who he married on Jan. 3, 1946 in Santa Anna. He was a groceryman and a butcher. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the National Guard for 33 years, retiring as a captain. He was a member of the Santa Anna Lions Club and of the First United Methodist Church of Santa Anna.
Survivors include one daughter, Gaye Swell of Abilene; one son, Roy Joe Harvey of Brownwood Lake; one sister, Martha Thompson of Santa Anna; and three grandchildren.

Hilda Ann Crumpton
MUNDAY - Hilda Ann Crumpton, 72, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Munday with the Rev. Kevin Fagan officiating, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home of Munday.
Mrs. Crumpton was born in Vacherie, La. and moved to Munday 19 years ago. She was the widow of Jack Crumpton, whom she married on March 5, 1945 in Reserve, La. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
Survivors include one daughter, Katie Marie Garlic of Dublin, Va.; one son, Mark Crumpton of Munday; three sisters, Amelia Laiche, Rita Bonadona, and Laura Hutchenson, all of La.; four brothers, O'Neil Boe, John Boe, Jim Boe, and Lenard Boe, all of La.; and three grandchildren.

Robert G. Smith
CLYDE - Robert G. Smith, 85, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Clyde Cemetery with the Rev. Dixie Robertson officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home of Clyde.
Mr. Smith was born in Italy in Ellis County. He worked in service stations and as a mechanic. He married Mary Lou Burkhalter on Aug. 19, 1934 in Olton. He attended Olton and Doan schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He moved from Callahan County to Odell in 1983 and returned to Clyde in 1998. He was a member of the Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife of Clyde; one son, Robert E. Smith of Odell; one daughter, Zella L. Broadus of Clyde; one sister, Elma Smith of Clyde; nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Elmer Gene Bell
STAMFORD - Elmer Gene Bell, 45, died Wednesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Matta officiating, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
Mr. Bell was born in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his parents, Donald and Joanne Bell of Stamford; three daughters, Dianne Bell, Elizabeth Bell, and Angela Bell, all of Fort Worth; one stepdaughter, Amber Bell of Fort Worth; one brother, Gary Bell of Stamford; and one sister, Patricia Caldwell of Knox City.

Beatrice White Somerford
MONAHANS - Beatrice White Somerford, 80, died Thursday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at the Harkey Funeral Home Chapel in Monahans with the Rev. Gordon Cox officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Monday, July 19, in Elmwood Memorial Cemetery in Abilene with Dr. Don Greenway officiating.
Mrs. Someford was born in Ocelata, Okla. She was an artist and a member of the Sand Hills Art Club. She was co-owner of the Chief's Rock Shop, and she designed jewelry, sold paintings, and ran the shop. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, A.R. Somerford of Monahans; three daughters, Jo Ellen Pullin of Grove, Okla., Ginger Helm of Abilene, and Linda Hall of Orange; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center in Abilene, Tx.

Wanda Belle Roberts
Wanda Belle Roberts, 75, died Friday in a local nursing center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with the Revs. Stan Alcorn, Jack Ridlehoover, and David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Park Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange. Viewing will be at 4002 Buffalo Gap Road.
Mrs. Roberts was raised in Chaulk Mountain and attended the University of Texas in Austin and Tarleton State College. She married Truett W. Roberts Jr. on Dec. 15, 1945, in Stephenville and moved to Abilene in 1948. She was a homemaker. She was a teacher at the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and a volunteer at Windcrest Alzheimer's Care Center.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; one son, Truett W. Roberts III of Abilene; one daughter, Cassandra Susan Steinner of Gig Harbor, Wash.; one sister, Mary Kathryn Roderick of Stephenville; one brother, Albert John Shannon of Whitney; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:30-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sybil Sanders McGarity
Sybil Sanders McGarity, 41, of Abilene, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Abilene Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis King officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Ms. McGarity was born in Abilene and was a lifetime resident. She attended Abilene High School and Cisco Junior College for two years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her mother, Pauline Sanders of Abilene; one son, Melvin McGarity of Lewisville; one daughter, Levon McGarity of Lewisville; six brothers, Benny Hunter, Gregory Sanders, Larry Colbert, Tony Colbert, Keith Hunter, all of Abilene, and Darrell Sanders of Irving; four sisters, Marilyn McBride, Inita Sanders and Cynthia Jordan, all of Abilene, and Linda Hunter of Gainsville, Ga.; one grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Evelyn Pearl Early Lee
EARLY - Evelyn Pearl Early Lee, 71, died Friday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Early First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rocky Creek Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Mrs. Lee was born in Grosvenor where she graduated from high school. She was a lifetime Brown County Resident and had lived in Early since 1962. She was the widow of Vernon Mitchell Lee, whom she married on Aug. 31, 1946, in Grosvenor. She retired from Southwestern States Telephone Company, from the city of Early where she was city secretary, and the Brown County Appraisal District. She was a member of the Jewel Sunday School Class, church nursery secretary, church secretary and other activities at the Early First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Grosvenor Community Club, treasurer for the Grosvenor Reunion, secretary and treasurer of the Windham Cemetery Association, secretary of the Rocky Creek Cemetery Association, member of the Brownwood Hospital Auxiliary, president of Senior Friends, member of the Brownwood Library board, and past president of the Bluebonnet Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.
Survivors include one daughter, Lucinda Lee of Abilene; two nephews; one niece; and a host of great-nephews and great-nieces.
Memorials may be made to the Early First Baptist Church Family Life Center Building Fund.

Virginia ValVerde
DALLAS - Virginia ValVerde, 46, formerly of Abilene, died July 8.
Services were July 10 at the Gonzalez Funeral Home in Dallas. The body was cremated.
Ms. ValVerde had worked at Bill's Burgers and Taste Delight Donuts before moving to Dallas in 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Vascanio, Charles Rene Martinez, and Anthony Martinez; her mother, Lena ValVerde; three brothers, David Herrera, Bennie ValVerde, and Charles ValVerde; and three grandchildren.
