Ronald A. Boswell
DE LEON — Ronald A. Boswell, 75, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel in DeLeon with the Revs. Jackie Auvenshine and Charles J. Lowman officiating. Burial will be in DeLeon Cemetery.
Mr. Boswell was born in DeLeon and was a lifetime resident of the area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a car dealer and a Baptist. He married Jo Ann Ware on Feb. 13, 1949 in Comanche.
Survivors include his wife of DeLeon; one son, Ronald Michael Boswell of Gainesville; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Lowman of Foley, Ala., and Betty Van Meter of DeLeon; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Catherine Earlene Davis
ODESSA — Catherine Earlene Davis, 76, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Brown County, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Mrs. Davis was born in Brownwood. She was the widow of Horace Levi Davis, whom she married On April 4, 1923.
She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons, Harold Lee Davis and David Keith Davis, both of Odessa, and Harley Gene Davis of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Joyce Hoskins of Odessa; one brother, Melvin Seed of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dr. Ralph Elwood Donnell
Dr. Ralph Elwood Donnell, 78, a longtime Abilene physician, died Monday at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. at the First Central Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Scott Simpson officiating.
Dr. Donnell was born in Phoenix, Ariz., and was a 1938 graduate of Phoenix Union High School and a graduate of Phoenix Junior College. He graduated from Baylor University in Waco and from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1944. He completed a residency at Robert B. Green Hospital in San Antonio, and served as a medical officer and later a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force. He did a residency in orthopedic surgery at Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas and also at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Dallas.
He was in private practice in Plainview for five years before joining Orthopedic Associates in Abilene in 1956. He was the widower of Golden Ross Donnell and later married Lavern Rhine on June 2, 1955 in Plainview. Professional memberships included the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Western Orthopedic Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Diplomate American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Fellow American College of Surgeons, and Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society.
He was a member of the First Central Presbyterian Church and a 32nd degree Mason of the Plainview Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Freemasonry and Big Country Scottish Rite Club. He served on the board of Serenity House and Hendrick Medical Center Foundation Board.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; three sons, Ralph E. “Woody” Donnell III of Annandale, Va., Mark R. Donnell of San Francisco, Calif., and Steven G. Donnell of Austin; three grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Donnell Barr of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ben F. Reynolds
ARLINGTON — Ben F. Reynolds, 75, formerly of Abilene, died Sunday.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Arlington Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington, TX. Burial will be in Parkdale Cemetery.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Seymour and had been a resident of Arlington for 45 years. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II. He was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of the VFW and the Carpenters Union in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife Pauline Reynolds of Arlington; three daughters, Nancy Kjellin of Seattle, Wash., and Shirley Thornton and Elaine Tolbert, both of Arlington; two brothers, Rev. Earl Reynolds of Blossom and Lawrence Reynolds of Abilene; three sisters, Myrtle B. Whisenhunt and Pearl Pilgreen, both of Abilene, and Reba French of Paradise; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the funeral home.

John D. Thurman
CLYDE — John D. Thurman, 74, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel in Clyde with the Rev. Michael McBride officiating. Burial will be in Eula Cemetery.
Mr. Thurman was born in Fisher County near Rotan. He graduated from Lamesa High School and Radio Broadcasting School in Dallas. He married Wanda Lynn Crouch on Feb. 13, 1947 in Waxahachie. He moved from Abilene to Clyde in 1979.
He was a radio announcer starting out at Lamesa station KPET and also worked at KPEP in San Angelo and KCAD in Abilene. He was known as the “Flop Earred Mule”.
He was also a singer and song writer, and a member of the Phantom Rider Trio. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of Clyde; one son, John D. Thurman III of Baird; three daughters, Donna Jones of Abilene, Terry Sellers of Sweetwater, and Sue Jane Brewer of Clyde; two sisters, Roberta Trainer and Billie Hooper, both of Grand Prairie; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one uncle.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Alec Brandon Benavides
SEVERN, MD. — Alec Brandon Benavides, 3, died suddenly Friday in a Rossville, Md. hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie, Md. with Dr. James G. Kirk officiating. Burial will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, Md.
Alex was born in Baltimore City, Md. to Anthony Benavides of Abilene and Jennifer Mae Henderson of Severn, Md. He was a very loving and outgoing child.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his grandparents, Grace and George Henderson Sr. of Severn, Md., and Sylvia and William Young of Germany; great grandparents, Alice and Amado Benavides Sr. of Abilene; several aunts and uncles including Amado Benavides III of Abilene; and several cousins.

Fay Moneyhun Sackett
COLEMAN — Fay Moneyhun Sackett, 95, died Sunday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman with the Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.
Mrs. Sackett was born in Farmersville and moved to Coleman County as a child. She attended school in Loss Creek. She lived in Camp Colorado in Coleman County until 1939 when she moved to Coleman.
She was the widow of Fred Sackett, whom she married on Feb. 26, 1921 in Coleman. She was the owner of Sackett’s Fabric Center and was also employed at Nell’s Dress Shop. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Sackett Hill of Coleman; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Navah Lucille Shields
Navah Lucille Shields, 88, of Abilene, died Monday at a local nursing home.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Eddie Sharp officiating.
Mrs. Shields was born in Milsap and attended school in Ardmore, Okla. She moved to Abilene in 1962. She was the widow of J.C. Shields, whom she married in March, 1932 in New Mexico.
She had worked at the Abilene Christian University Bookstore for 20 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the University Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucille Wilburn of Parker, Ariz. and Sharon Emmons of Potosi; and three grandchildren.
