Wilma Stewart Carwile
Wilma Stewart Carwile, 81, of Abilene, died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Robert Lee Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Epperson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte, directed by Shaffer Funeral Home in Robert Lee. Local arrangements were made by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Carwile was born in San Angelo and moved to Abilene from Robert Lee in 1985. She was a librarian at the Robert Lee Schools until her retirement in 1985 and was a member of the Robert Lee Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Ward of Abilene; two sisters, Aileen Conner of San Angelo and Pauline Stuckey of Snyder; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Nettie Ruth Sanders
ANSON — Nettie Ruth Sanders, 76, died Monday at her home.
Private services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson with the Rev. Lee Welch officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Sanders was born in Jones County and lived in California for 30 years before returning to Anson in 1983. She married Vernon Sanders on Nov. 7, 1942 in Anson. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of Anson; one daughter, Lyla Whitehead of Anson; one brother, Aubrey Burleson of Hamlin; one sister, Essie Holloway of Anson; one grandchild; and two great grandchildren.

Viola F. Lancaster
Viola F. Lancaster, 91, formerly of Coleman and Fredericksburg, died Sunday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman with Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Voss Cemetery.
Mrs. Lancaster was born in Taylor County. She was the widow of Elwood Lancaster, whom she married on Feb. 11, 1929 in Gouldbusk.
She moved to Coleman in 1984 and to Fredericksburg in 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Thelma Toni Woerner of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and other relatives including Hallie Miller of Coleman.
Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Mem. Foundation Hospice, Box 835, Fredericksburg, TX.

Orby Columbus ‘O.C.’ Ledbetter
Orby Columbus “O.C.” Ledbetter, 96, died Monday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26 in the Willow Cemetery in Haskell with the David Page officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Mr. Ledbettter was born in Gunsight near Breckenridge. He was the widower of Grace Mae Mitchell, whom he married in Aug., 1945 in Abilene, and also the widower of Elen Frances Christisson.
He worked in the oil field and was a Mason.
Survivors include two sons, Orby Ledbetter Jr. of Victoria and Jerald Dale Ledbetter of Breckenridge; one daughter, Mary Ann Haley of Abilene; one sister, Delphia Jones of Breckenridge; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Pat Patterson
THROCKMORTON — Pat Patterson, 76, died Friday at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Merriman-Archer Funeral Home Chapel in Throckmorton with the Rev. Silas Short officiating. Burial will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, in the Victor Cemetery in Erath County with the Rev. A.C. Morris officiating.
Mr. Patterson was born in Victor in Erath County. He was the widower of Della McWhorter Huston Patterson, whom he married on Jan. 6, 1978 in Throckmorton.
He had worked on ranches in Goree and Spur prior to moving to Throckmorton where he worked on the Swenson Ranch and other ranches in Throckmorton County.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sisters, Bernice Jarnagin of Stephenville, Clista Mae Hancock of Bedford, and Joy Elizabeth Lavorini of Pacific Grove, Calif.; and one stepdaughter, Peggy McWhorter of Throckmorton.

Teresa R. Escobedo
STAMFORD — Teresa R. Escobedo, 80, died Sunday at her home.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel in Stamford. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stamford with the Rev. Michael Melcher officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford.
Mrs. Escobedo was born in Hillsboro and moved to Stamford in 1935. She was the widow of Panfilo Escobedo. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and a fellow member of Las Guadalupanas. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Mathew Torres of Stamford; two sons, Tony Escobedo and Kelly Escobedo, both of Stamford; three daughters, Tommie Castillo of San Antonio, Mary Moreno of Abilene, and Nora Gomez of Stamford; three sisters, Candel Lumbreres and Mary Chapa, both of Wichita Falls, and Mary Gomez of Fort Worth; one brother, Tony Reyna of Wichita Falls; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Vivian Price
BAIRD — Vivian Price, 93, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, in the Baird Church of Christ with Ross Sweeten officiating. Burial will be in the Ross Cemetery, directed by Parker Funeral Home of Baird.
Mrs. Price was born in Comanche County and had lived all her life in Baird. She was the widow of Spencer Price, whom she married on May 2, 1927 in Clyde. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baird Church of Christ.
Survivors are three grandchildren including John Dugan and Paula Gilmore, both of Clyde; and five great grandchildren.

Helen Price
ALBANY — Helen Price, 91, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Ross Cemetery in Baird with the Rev. Doug Stenberg officiating, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home of Albany.
Mrs. Price was born in Callahan County. She was the widow of Tom Price. She graduated from Cross Plains High School and attended McMurry University. She taught school. She owned and operated the Tom Price Ice Company and the Tom Price Motor Company. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three nieces and two nephews.

Bennie F. Bassing
HASKELL — Bennie F. Bassing, 81, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Haskell Church of Christ with Bob Connel and Sterling Lentz officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home of Haskell.
Mr. Bassing was born in Frankston and graduated from Forest Hill High School. He served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Haskell in 1945 and married Mary Eve Frierson on Sept. 16, 1945 in Stamford. He opened his first jewelry store in Aspermont in 1946 and in 1949 opened Bassings Jewelry in Haskell. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of Haskell; one daughter, Zona Carroll Lentz; three brothers, Henry Downey of Anson, D.C. Bassing of Bloomfield, N.M., and Charlie Bassing of Leachfield, Ark.; two sisters, Jewel McClure of Honey Grove and Molly Frazier of Bloomfield, N.M.; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one step great grandchild.
