CLYDE - Hilton Edwards, 88, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Riley Fugitt officiating. Burial will be in Eula Cemetery.
Mr. Edwards was born in Clyde and graduated from Eula High School. He married Pearl Jolly on April 26, 1935 in Lubbock. He was a retired farmer and also worked as manager of the Clyde Co-Op. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Clyde; two sons, Hilton Gordon Edwards of Clyde and Grady Mearl Edwards of Eula; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Rayner Coplen

McCAMEY - Rayner Coplen, 96, formerly of McCamey and Hamlin, died Tuesday in a San Angelo care center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Richard W. Box Funeral Home Chapel with Matt Coplen officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Coplen was born in Blooming Grove and lived in Hamlin for several years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in McCamey. She was a Baptist and was the widow of A.M. Coplen.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Coplen Herren of Odessa and Helen Coplen Reed of Double Oak; three sons, Joe W. Coplen of San Angelo, Jerry M. Coplen of Midland and Ed Coplen of Hereford; 17 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Ola Mae Henry

COMANCHE - Ola Mae Henry, 84, died Wednesday.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Longoria and Dr. Van Christian officiating. Burial will be Pendergrass Cemetery in Sidney.
Mrs. Henry was born in Wills Point and married Jesse Carroll Clay in 1934. She was a homemaker and also worked at Lawrence Steak House and, later, Dillon Children's Home. She was a member of Comanche Art Association and Sidney Baptist Church, and was the widow of Robert Lee Henry.
Survivors include four daughters, Wanda Clay of Eastland, Barbara Ann Chamberlain of Carthage, Macie McNeil of Sholowe, Ariz., and Pat Holden of Comanche; five sons, Jesse Carroll Clay of Laneville, Johnny Clay of Rising Star, Mansel Wade Clay of San Angelo, Travis Mariom Clay of Midland and Billy Henry of Comanche; three brothers, Perry Dean Hill of Gustine, Louis Hill of Henderson and William Lynn Hill of Millsap; five sisters, Grace Click, Loren Blanton and Dorothy Cryan, all of Houston, Willie Blanton of Whitney and Lucy Hill of Eastland.
Memorials may be sent to Comanche Public Library or Pendergrass Cemetery Memorial Fund in Sidney.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

William 'Bill' Chandler

GORMAN - William "Bill" Chandler, 94, employed by Lone Star Gas Co. for 47 years until retiring as a plant superintendent, died Wednesday in a De Leon hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Victor Pena officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Gorman Cemetery.
Mr. Chandler was born in Albany and moved to Gorman 20 years ago. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Helen Williams Chandler, whom he married on July 2, 1933 in Stephenville.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty McGee of Gorman; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Bobbie Lee Pope Gardner

COLEMAN - Bobbie Lee Pope Gardner, 83, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Coleman First Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Merritt and Gary Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gardner was born in Coleman County, where she attended school in Echo. She married Robert H. Pope on December 9, 1933. She married Roy Gardner on November 25, 1971 and formerly owned and operated Bobbie Lee's Beauty Shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Coleman; one son, Kenneth Glen Pope of Gouldbusk; three daughters, Glenda Gail Anderson of Snyder, Donna Lee Franke of New Braunfels and Helen Overturff* of Odessa; four stepchildren, John Gardner of Oracle, Ariz., Joan Kerbow of Grand Prairie, Beth Sparkman of New Braunfels and Glen Gardner of Coleman; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; and 14 step great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

*Helen P. Overturff
Helen P. Overturff, age 65, of Odessa, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital. She was born in Coleman, Texas on September 12, 1949 to the late Robert and Bobby Lee (Bassett) Pope. Helen marriage Houston Overturff in Odessa on December 15, 1972. She had her own house cleaning business and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, Nana, and friend, who was very special.
Helen was smart and generous and enjoyed dancing and riding roller coasters. Quirky and funny, with a sharp sarcastic wit, she could be hard headed and stubborn and was always straight to the point. Never one to sugarcoat anything, she hated social media and didn't mind telling you that she really didn't give a damn what other people were up to. If Helen waved her hand at you, you knew you were in trouble. She was the glue that held her family together and spent most of her time taking care of her kids and grandkids.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Butch Overturff of Odessa; two sons: Guy Houston Garrett of Austin and Cody Mac Overturff and wife Kirby of Odessa; daughter: Jill Overturff-Torres of Odessa; brother: Ken Pope and wife Linda of Gould Busk; sister: Donna Franke and husband Larry of New Braunfels, and four grandchildren: Alec Torres, Allison Torres, Adin Torres, and Klayton Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Robert Pope, Gloria June Gordon and Glenda Gayle Anderson.
Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Friday, February 20, 2015 at Northside Baptist Church, officiated by Brother Clydel Chapman. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel
Sybol Naoma Davis
Meals on Wheels volunteer
Sybol Naoma Davis, 77, employed by Abilene State School for 29 years, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hamby Church of Christ with Willard Tate officiating. Burial will be in Hamby Cemetery, directed by North’s Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Davis was born in Megargel, where she grew up, and moved to Abilene in 1941. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for several years. She was a member of Hamby Church of Christ and was the widow of Clarence Davis, whom she married in 1941 in Plainview.
Survivors include four daughters, Ann Kniffen of Menard, Sybil Atha of Buena Vista, Colo., Polly Atha of Abilene and Linda Pearce of Tuscola; two sons, Jim Davis of Abilene and Perry Davis of Kilgore; one brother, George Ledbetter of Kerrville; three sisters, Sara Wilson of Buffalo Gap, Johnnie Cogburn of Laredo and Mary Lou Roberson of Abilene; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Francisca ‘Frances’ Hernandez

MUNDAY — Francisca “Frances” M. Hernandez, 54, of Lubbock and formerly of Munday, died Wednesday in a Lubbock hospital.
Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rhineland with the Rev. George Foley officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Memorial Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hernandez was born in Knox City and moved to Munday in 1962. She married Pedro Torres Hernandez in 1968 in Benjamin. She moved to Lubbock in 1993 from Munday and worked as a cook in the Lubbock school district. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lubbock.
Survivors include her husband, of Lubbock; three daughters, Natalia Hernandez Sarabia of O’Brien, Neomi Cruz Hernandez Brock of Olton and Nanette Francaline Terry of Lubbock; one son, Reynaldo Isidro Hernandez of Abilene; her mother, Cruz Montoya Serrano of Munday; two sisters, Neva Gonzales and Mary Sosa, both of Munday; three half-sisters, Margarita Ramos, Gloria Mata and Elizabeth Moreno, all of Kerrville; four half-brothers, David Mata, Eddie Mata, Richard Mata and Caesar Mata, all of Kerrville; and four grandchildren.

MUNDAY — Johnnie Beatrice McAfee, 92, of California and formerly of Munday, died Tuesday in a Fullerton, Calif. hospital.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Sunday in Johnson Memorial Cemetery with Paul Chambers officiating, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. McAfee was born in Munday and was a homemaker. She moved to California from Munday. She was a member of Knox City Foursquare Church and was the widow of Charlie L. McAfee, whom she married in 1922 in Anson.
Survivors include two daughters, Pauline McAfee of Placentia, Calif., and Shirley McLendon of Escondido, Calif.; one son, James McAfee of Granbury; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

COLORADO CITY — Mack Ritchey, 85, died Thursday in a local care center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terrell Rowe and Willie Garner officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery.
Mr. Ritchey was born in Ballinger and moved to Mitchell County in 1920. He married Irene Anderson in 1940 in Colorado City and was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; one daughter, Linda Raschke of Colorado City; three sons, Jimmy Ritchey of Plainview, Gerry Ritchey of Colorado City and Ray Ritchey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
