John Edward Beasley
CLYDE - John Edward Beasley, 70, of Hamby died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with David Mickey officiating. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery.
Mr. Beasley was born in Gause and attended school in Baird. He was a welding supplies salesman and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Abilene. He married Lorene Sargent in 1949 in Baird.
Survivors include his wife, of Hamby; one son, John Dale Beasley of Temple; four daughters, Rena Pray of Quakertown, Pa., Donna Salge and Vicki Lewis, both of Hamby, and Janna Spigner of Prattville, Ala.; five brothers, Jesse Raymond Beasley and Pete Beasley, both of Clyde, Steve Decator Beasley Jr. of Hawley, Lynn Dale Beasley of Baird and Roy Lee Beasley of Stanton; four sisters, Pearl Lemay of Abilene, Ethel Hughes of Baird and Mary Van Der Linden and Faye Gillum, both of Cottonwood; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Eleanor Parrott 'Precious' Gentry
THROCKMORTON - Eleanor Parrott "Precious" Gentry, 75, secretary for the county judge for 15 years, died Sunday at a local hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Casey officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ava Berry. Burial will be in Throckmorton Cemetery, directed by Merriman-Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gentry was born in Throckmorton and attended school in Throckmorton and Nashville, Tenn. She attended Our Lady of Victory College in Fort Worth. She married Robert Byron "Spooty" Gentry in 1942 in Opelika, Ala.; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Tommy Gentry of Houston; two daughters, Becky Casey of Abilene and Nan Poe of Bedford; one sister, Virginia Cochran of Denton; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Memorials to the American Cancer Association may be left at the funeral home.

Nell Howard
CARLSBAD, N.M. - Nell R. Howard, 68, died Sunday at her home.
The body was cremated. Private family services will be held, directed by Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.
Mrs. Howard was born in Itan, Tex., and grew up in Carlsbad and White City, N.M. She attended Carlsbad High School and lived in Carlsbad most of her life. She had also lived in Abilene. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a previous member of TOPS Club.
Survivors include her husband, H.W. "Wade" Howard of Carlsbad; two sons, Ward Howard and Martin Howard, both of Abilene; two daughters, Linda Molyneaux of Albany and Brenda Blair of Carlsbad; her mother, Velda Rich of Carlsbad; two brothers, Doyle Rich of Pennsylvania and L.G. Rich of Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Georgia Baird
BAIRD - Georgia Baird, 74, of Buffalo gap died Sunday in Buffalo Gap after a sudden illness.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Ross Cemetery Annex with Salvation Army Maj. C. Glenn Proctor officiating, directed by Parker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Baird was born in Estoline and had lived in Buffalo Gap one year, moving from Baird. She was a homemaker and a member of Salvation Army home league. She married Clifford Newton Baird in Anson.
Survivors include four sons, Dennis Roberts of Baird, James Clifford Baird of Lake Whitney, Charlie Baird of Abilene and Joe Allen Baird of Buffalo Gap; one brother, A.B. Ball of Abilene; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Alfred 'Doc' Letz
OLD GLORY - Alfred "Doc" Letz, 94, died Monday at an Aspermont care home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell with the Rev. Gary Bruns officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Mr. Letz was born in Comal County and grew up in Old Glory. He attended school at Hooker and farmed in the Old Glory and Sagerton communities all his life, except a short time working for the railroad. He moved to Aspermont in 1992. He married Emma Nehring in 1924 in Oklahoma; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Marie Kretschmer of Haskell; two brothers, Tony Letz of Jayton and Adolph Letz of Stamford; two sisters, Ella Vanderworth of Houston and Lena Weaver of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, two great-grandsons, one step-granddaughter and three step-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell or to the Old Glory or Sagerton community centers.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Kalie Len Gunter
COLEMAN - Kalie Len Gunter, 2, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Coleman Cemetery Pavilion, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Kalie was born in Abilene and attended Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witness.
Survivors include her parents, Mark and Stacie Berry of Coleman; four brothers, Brandon Vasquez, Adam Vasquez and Daniel Vasquez, all of Coleman, and Ramsey Berry of Odessa; grandparents Teresa Gunter of Santa Anna and Carla and Gary Don Berry of Coleman; great-grandparents Bruce and Dorothy Alsobrook of Santa Anna and Frances Berry and Fred Davis of Coleman; and several other relatives.
Memorials may be made to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio.

Lyndol 'Lynn' Hugh Johnston
ROCHESTER - Lyndol "Lynn" Hugh Johnston, 70, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Truett Kuenstler and Ed Berkle officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnston was born in O'Brien and attended school there and in Rochester. He graduated from Corpus Christi State University with a bachelor's degree and from Sam Houston State University with a master's degree. He also attended Texas Tech University and taught, coached and did administration work at Peacock, New Caney, Winonna, Lorenzo, New Home and Sands (Ackerly). He returned to Rochester eight years ago from Ackerly. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a Baptist. He married Benn Etta Gregory in 1953; she preceded him in death. He married Mary Anna Michael in 1984 in Rochester.
Survivors include his wife, of Rochester; three sons, Kyle Michael Johnston of New Home, Jay Alan Johnston of Lubbock and Mack Michael of Katy; six daughters, Pamela Lynette Carr of Corpus Christi, Cynthia Maurine Jolly of Tahoka, Jamie Lynn Rodgers, Gina Marie Johnson and Kelly Diane Keith, all of New Home, and Kathryn Read of Austin; one sister, Bobbie Brass of Rule; and 17 grandchildren.

Elida Lunn Rosenquist
STAMFORD - Elida E. Lunn Rosenquist, 91, died Sunday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with the Rev. Kent Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rosenquist was born in Jones County and was a lifetime resident of Jones County. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. She married Herbert Rosenquist in 1928 in Ericksdahl; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Morris of Irving and Pearl Larson of Fort Worth; one brother, Carl Lunn of Stamford; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leon Griffith
WACO - Leon Griffith, 60, died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Brumit officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in China Spring Cemetery in China Spring.
Mr. Griffith was born in Jones County and attended school in Anson. He moved to Waco in 1966 and worked for Chemical Express. He was a certified diesel mechanic and worked for Diesel Power and Ed Makowski for more than 20 years. He opened Leon Mobil Services, Major and General Repair in 1990. He was a member of Baylor Lodge 1235, Waco Shrine, Scottish Rite Bodies. He married Alice Thomas in 1959 in Stamford.
Survivors include his wife, of Waco; his parents, J.N. and Levada Griffith of Anson; one daughter, Donna Girnus of China Spring; two sons, Roy Dale Griffith and Gerald Wayne Griffith, both of Waco; four sisters, Clara Mae Spalding and Dorothy Jean Bilbrey, both of Hamlin, Evelyn Ann Davis of Austin and Judy Fay Sandbothe of Anson; five brothers, Bobby Griffith, Steve Griffith and Clyde Griffith, all of Anson, and Donny Griffith and Billy Griffith, both of Roby; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
