HASSE - Nancy Veatrice Mahan, 85, of Magnolia and formerly of Hasse, died Monday in a Harlingen hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rocky Creek Cemetery at Lake Brownwood with the Rev. Don Longoria officiating, directed by Hall & Sons Funeral Home of Comanche.
Mrs. Mahan was born in Eastland and was a homemaker. She lived at Lake Brownwood for 15 years and then in the Hasse area for 10 years. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Charlie Elmer Mahan, whom she married in 1967.
Survivors include five children, Bill Lisenbee of Magnolia, Mildred Jean Bradd of Battle Creek, Mich., Wilda Pretchinsky and Bill Palmer, both of Odessa, and R.E. Mahan of Midland; two brothers, Marvin Hines of Garland and C.P. Hines of Winnsboro; two sisters, Frances Burns of Eastland and Ellen Kitchens of Weatherford; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Carolina 'Bebee' Bersosa Benavides
Former Abilene resident
Carolina "Bebee" Bersosa Benavides, 40, of Marietta, Okla., and formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will be in Abilene City Cemetery.
Mrs. Benavides was born in Abilene, where she married Richard Benavides in 1981. She moved to Marietta, Okla. in 1987. She worked as an elementary teacher's assistant in the Marietta school district and also was involved with the English as a Second Language program. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Marietta, a mission parish of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ardmore, Okla.
Survivors include her husband, of Marietta, Okla.; two sons, Jesse Acosta and Richard Lee Benavides, both of Marietta, Okla.; one daughter, Amanda Benavides of Marietta, Okla.; her mother, Luz Hernandez of Abilene; three brothers, Joe Hernandez, John Hernandez and Simon Hernandez, all of Abilene; two sisters, Candy Salazar of Houston and Gloria Valdez of Abilene; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Velma Ellison
Jones County resident
Velma Ellison, 85, of Hawley, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Hawley First Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Myers officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Ellison was born in Jones County and graduated from Hawley High School. She worked for Safeway Food for 32 years until retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was the widow of Homer Lee Ellison, whom she married in 1935 in Abilene.
Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Niedecken Baum and Julia Snow, both of Abilene; two brothers, L.C. Burton of Lubbock and Clarence Burton of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
The family will be at 2049 Woodard in Abilene.

EASTLAND - Dana Renee Sadler Mills, 25, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Roberts and the Rev. Jim Wright officiating. Burial will be in Flatwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Mills was born in Eastland, where she graduated from high school in 1992, and attended Tarleton State University. She married Rob Mills in 1996 in Carbon and was a member of Daugherty Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Eastland; one daughter, Macie Paige Mills of Eastland; two stepsons, Keifer Mills and Zachary Mills, both of Coleman; her parents, Eddie and Linda Sadler of Eastland; one sister, Darla French of Breckenridge; one brother, Darren Sadler of Eastland; her grandfather, Finis Johnson of Eastland; one niece and one nephew; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Judy Elliott, 55, formerly of Abilene, died Monday.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Parker, S.D. Arrangements were made by Martin Mortuary.
Mrs. Elliott was born in Abilene, where she attended school. She married Alan Elliott in 1964 in Las Vegas, Nev., and lived in Los Angeles for several years. She moved to Abilene in 1970 and her last employment in Abilene was with Mental Health-Mental Retardation.
Survivors include her husband, of Grand Junction; one daughter, Kristine Elliott of Abilene; one son, Erik Elliott of Wisconsin; her parents, Marthiel and Jim Dugger of Abilene; one sister, Linda Hall of Abilene; two grandchildren; and one aunt.

VFW auxiliary past president
CLYDE - Fern V. Phillips, 75, of Abilene, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Clyde Cemetery with the Revs. David Cason and Cliff Phillips officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Duncan, Okla., and graduated from Whitesboro High School. She married W. Hugh Phillips in 1949 in Baird and lived in Canada and the Philippines. She moved to Abilene in the late 1960s from East Texas. She was a two-time past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one brother, Bill Penny of Hawaii; two sisters, Elizabeth Seagroves and Margie Follis, both of Ardmore, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Ben Richey Boys Ranch or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

LITTLE ELM - Carson Oliver "C.O." Patterson, 67, father of an Abilene resident, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Central Baptist Church in Thornton with the Revs. James Gibbs and Michael Patterson officiating. Burial will be in 117 Cemetery, directed by Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home of Thornton.
Mr. Patterson was born in Little Elm in Limestone County and graduated from Groesbeck High School. He worked as a utility operator for Shell Oil Co. for 38 years and was a rancher. He returned to Little Elm in 1991 from Pasadena and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Thornton.
Survivors include his wife, Peggie Sue Jackson Patterson of Little Elm; one daughter, Pamela Sue Capps of Thornton; two sons, Michael Owen Patterson of Abilene and David L. Patterson of Little Elm; two sisters, Betty Joe Erskine of Mexia and Eula Mae Pippin of Houston; and five grandchildren.

COLEMAN - Charlotte M. Smith, 60, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Day and Sam Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born in Levelland and married Bobby Dale Smith in 1957 in Kermit. She was a homemaker. She moved to Kermit in 1957 and Sundown in 1965. She returned to Kermit in 1978 and moved to Coleman in 1991. She was a member of East Side Church of Christ in Kermit and Sundown Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Coleman; one daughter, Sheryl Lynn Wright of Kermit; three sons, Phillip Wayne Smith of Midland, Stephen Dewayne Smith of Grapevine and Robert Dale Smith of Levelland; one sister, Lois Marie Dakan of Coleman; two brothers, Billy Malcolm Cox of Novice and Alton Wayne Cox of Jal, N.M.; and 13 grandchildren.

MERKEL - Ruth Parker, 80, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lester Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Parker was born in Streeter in Mason County and worked as a cook at the Largent Ranch for 10 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was the widow of Melvin Parker, whom she married in 1939 in San Angelo.
Survivors include one son, Melvin Parker Jr. of Ozona; two daughters, Carolyn Middlebrook of Knox City and Betty Parker of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Buddy Gamel of Leander and W.A. Gamel of California; two sisters, Gladys Nobles of Katemcy and Fay Palmer of Lake Livingston; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
