Pablo Navarro
Pablo M. Navarro, 97, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. David Garza Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Navarro was born in Juchitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, and worked as a police officer and fisherman in Mexico. He moved to Abilene in 1966 and was employed as a custodian by the Abilene school system for 10 years. He was a member of First Mexican Baptist Church and was the widower of Juana Contreras Navarro, whom he married in 1925 in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico.
Survivors include one son, Ruben C. Navarro of San Jose, Calif.; two daughters, Maria Esther Navarro of Oxnard, Calif., and Elisa N. Gonzalez of Abilene; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

John Brannon Boyse <
John Brannon Boyse, 89, employed by the City of Abilene Water Department for 20 years, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Siglock officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Boyse grew up in Moody and married Celia Mae Williams in 1937. He served with the Merchant Marines. He managed an oil lease for Manly Oil Co. and moved to Nugent in 1946 and Lake Fort Phantom in 1948. He married Johnnie Novella Jones in 1953 and moved to Abilene in the 1970s. He was a member of Oddfellow Lodge and University Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Jimmy Boyse of Artesia, N.M.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

Faye Dunnam
RULE - Faye Dunnam, 80, Rule school teacher for 34 years before retiring, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Rule First Baptist Church with the Revs. Stewart Ferrell and Don Meyers officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Dunnam was born in Coryell County and moved to Rule in 1924. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons and West Texas State universities. Under her guidance, Rule's one-act play program won two state trophies. She was a past director of the Rule Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and First Baptist Church. She was the widow of C.W. "Bill" Dunnam, whom she married in 1952 in Rule.
Survivors include three sons, Victor Lee Trammell of Pampa, Kenneth Banis Young of Fort Worth and Kent Dunnam of Troy, Idaho; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Wendell Surles
KEMP - Wendell M. Surles, 81, brother of an Abilene resident, died Friday.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Mabank First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall, directed by Rest Haven Funeral Home of Rockwall.
Mr. Surles was born near Bristol, Colo., and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 100.
Survivors include his wife, Oleta Pounds Surles of Kemp; one daughter, Carol Brewer of Rockwall; two sisters, Zona Allen of Abilene and Doris Brooks of Grand Prairie; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today in the church.

Charles Eugene 'Putt' Brandon
BAIRD - Charles Eugene "Putt" Brandon, 77, died Friday in an Abilene care facility.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Parker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Willoughby officiating. Burial will be in Ross Cemetery Annex.
Mr. Brandon was born in Putnam and graduated from Crane High School. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Sul Ross College. He worked as a coach and school administrator for 34 years. He formerly coached in Baird and Coahoma, and was the school superintendent in Sierra Blanca before retiring in 1981. He moved to Baird from Sierra Blanca and was the Callahan County veterans service officer for four years. He was inducted into the Sul Ross University Athletic Hall of Honor in 1988 and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Avelene Brandon of Baird; three daughters, Linda Kaye Milner of Baird, Gwendolyn Bartlett of Louisville, Ky., and Lesa Bowen of Lawn; three sisters, Marjorie Evans of Kermit, Leta Mitchell of Lindale and Bobby Jobe of Putnam; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nine nieces and nephews.

Doris Ann Day Harris
EASTLAND - Doris Ann Day Harris, 58, of Frankston and formerly of Eastland, died Friday in a Corsicana hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Bakker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kyle Glenn officiating. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris was born in Eastland and graduated from Eastland High School in 1956 and Stephens College. She worked as a hospital administrator and lived in Cameron and Corsicana for many years before moving to Frankston in 1995. She was a member of Frankston First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Julie Ann Harris of Frankston; one son, Randall Lynn Harris of Eastland; two sisters, Sue Ragsdale of Brownwood and Sharon Richards of Corsicana; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Loyd Keating
BROWNWOOD - Loyd Keating, 90, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dan Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Keating was born in Blackwell, where he grew up. He married Katie Lee Grant in 1932 in Zephyr and moved to Brownwood in 1945. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a retired employee of the Texas Highway Department. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood, and many nieces and nephews.

Marie Latham
GORMAN - Marie D. Latham, 89, of Kilgore, died Friday in a Kilgore nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Burial will be in De Leon Cemetery.
Mrs. Latham was born in Comanche County and graduated from the Baylor School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She was a nurse with the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked as a school nurse in California for several years. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and Kilgore Lions Club. She was a Baptist and was the widow of John J. Latham, whom she married in 1948 in Wright City.
Survivors include one sister, Gladys Smith of Kilgore; several nieces; and seven nephews.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Joshua Cade Cauble
BROWNWOOD - Joshua Cade Cauble, 24, of Midland and formerly of Brownwood, died Saturday in Moran.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with Scottye Ratliff officiating. Burial will be on the family ranch near Moran, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home of Albany.
Mr. Cauble was born in Odessa and graduated from Brownwood High School and Texas Tech University. He worked for Northwest Financial Corp. and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Jill Cauble of Midland, formerly of Brownwood; two brothers, Robert Shawn Cauble of Brownwood and Jason Hamilton Cauble of Lubbock; his grandfather, Jay Cauble of Albany; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family will be at Robert and Dee Hamilton's home in Albany.
The body will be at the funeral home today and the church from 9-10 a.m. Monday.

Juanita Chaney Webb
Juanita Chaney Webb, 74, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Potosi Baptist Church with the Revs. Donny Harbers and Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Webb was born in Abilene, where she attended school. She married Robert Davis Webb in 1946 in Abilene and was a homemaker. She was a life member of Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and also was a member of Potosi Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one daughter, Janet Smith of Potosi; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
