WEINERT - Ramon Castorena Sr., 55, died Friday at his home.
Mass will be said at 1:30 p.m. today in St. George Catholic Church in Haskell with the Rev. Michael Melcher officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Camado near Eagle Pass, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Survivors include 12 children, Juanita Graciano, Margaret Pena and Cecila Zavala, all of Weinert, Ana Robledo, Guadalupe Castorena and Angel Castorena, all of Haskell, Ramon Castorena Jr., John Castorena, Daniel Castorena, Felipe Castorena and Jessie Castorena, all of Munday, and Samson Castorena of Anson; and 25 grandchildren.

Gladys Howard Tackett
BROWNWOOD - Gladys Howard Tackett, 71, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating. Burial will be in Blake Cemetery.
Mrs. Tackett was born in Cross Cut and lived most of her life in Brownwood. She was a homemaker and was the widow of Roy Howard. She married Billy Jack Tackett in 1993 in Brownwood and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; two sons, Gary Howard of Brownwood and Jimmy Howard of Austin; two stepsons, Barry Tackett of Charleston, S.C., and Robert Tackett of Yuba City, Calif.; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lennie Miller
Lennie Miller, 89, who with her husband owned and operated Lake Breeze Trailer Park for 38 years, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Garland Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Miller was born in Merkel and graduated from Abilene High School. She also worked for T.S. Lankford and Sons for 12 years. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was the widow of M.C. Miller, whom she married in 1928 in Abilene.
Survivors include two sons, Donald B. Miller of Abilene and Gary Lynn Miller of Lenoire, N.C.; two brothers, Carl Wilson of Abilene and L.R. Wilson of Granbury; one sister, Evelyn B. Lee of Clyde; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Carolyn Jeanette Williamson
Carolyn Jeanette Williamson, 67, bookkeeper for STE Printers for 27 years, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Jack Ridlehoover officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Williamson was born in Gadsden, Ala., where she graduated from Emma Samson High School. She attended business college and moved to Abilene in 1969. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and was the widow of Robert A. Williamson Sr., whom she married in 1951.
Survivors include one son, Robert A. Williamson Jr. of Nome, Texas; one daughter, Marla Jean Hartung of Pearland; one brother, Cecil Noles Jr. of Georgetown; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Herbert Burton
Herbert Burton, 84, charter member of Antioch CME Church, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Antioch CME Church with the Rev. V.L. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Mr. Burton was born in Fort Worth, where he attended school. He was a longtime Taylor County resident. He operated a tailor shop, pool hall and recreation center in Abilene for many years. He also worked at Abilene City Hall, the Drake Hotel, and for 45 years, as an attendant at Curtis-Starks Funeral Home.
Burton was actively involved with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and was a charter member of the Regular Fellows Social Club. He was a member of the G.V. Daniels Senior Citizen Center and United Political Organization, and was a supporter of the Heart Fund, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and United Fund. He was a former member of the Knights of Pythians and Masonic lodges. He was a member of the steward board and Men's Bible Class at Antioch CME Church, and also was a Sunday school teacher. He was the widower of Ceola Burton, whom he married in Taylor County.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Fuller of Los Angeles; a longtime companion, Eleanor Truvillion of Abilene; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
The family will be at 850 Mesquite.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Tommie Sue Glass Napier
Tommie Sue Glass Napier, 70, employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 29-1/2 years before retiring in 1976, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Napier was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School and Hardin-Simmons University. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of Robert Lee Napier Sr., whom she married in 1976 in Abilene.
Survivors include two sisters, Sibyl Glass Gholson and Nell Glass Range, both of Dallas; one brother, H.A. Glass of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.

Roy Rhodes
COLORADO CITY - Roy Rhodes, 89, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Colorado City First Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Spear officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Rhodes was born in Gorman and was a World War II veteran. He moved to Colorado City in 1947 and Snyder in 1949. He returned to Colorado City in 1951 and worked as the manager of the Burton-Lingo Lumber Yard and, later, Rockwell Lumber Yard. He married Linda Wasson in 1973 in Abilene and was a member of Colorado City Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; one daughter, Rheta Autry of Amarillo; two sons, Roy P. Rhodes of Argyle and Burton Rhodes of Albuquerque, N.M.; one stepson, Bryan Wasson of Maumell, Ark.; three brothers, Leonard Rhodes of Cisco, Dusty Rhodes of Coleman and Wayne Rhodes of Ballinger; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

Laura Mae Boyd
RULE - Laura Mae Boyd, 93, lifelong local resident, died Wednesday in a Haskell nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Rule Cemetery with Larry Norman officiating, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Haskell County and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Lige Boyd.
Survivors include one daughter, Joy Norman of Abilene; one son, Billy Boyd of Lubbock; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Bonnie Rains Proffitt
CISCO - Bonnie Rains Proffitt, 69, of San Antonio and formerly of Cisco, died Wednesday in a San Antonio hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Bob Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Mrs. Proffitt was born in Gatesville and also formerly lived in Abilene. She was a homemaker and was a Nazarene.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Andrus of Navasota and Jeanette Proffitt of Jasper; one son, Alan Powell of Petal, Miss.; four sisters, Ruth Jones and Mary Patterson, both of Abilene, Hazel Harris of Amarillo and Betty Medina of Bronx, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Louise 'Lou' Caswell
BROWNWOOD - Mary Louise "Lou" Caswell, 64, of North Lake Brownwood, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with Hoyt Scitern and F.A. Eilers officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Caswell was born in Clarksville and grew up in Loraine. She married Leonard Ray Caswell in 1949 in Colorado City. She moved to Odessa in 1963 and worked at G.C. Murpheys, Gourmet Grub and Shop-A-Lot grocery. She moved to Lake Brownwood in 1991 and then was a security officer at Tamarack Mountain until 1995. She was active with the Sparkettes and North Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of May Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of North Lake Brownwood; two sons, Silas Wayne Caswell of Lubbock and Delbert Caswell of Odessa; two daughters, Patricia Wheeler and Nancy Lipford, both of Odessa; one brother, Leo Eilers Jr. of North Lake Brownwood; four sisters, Margaret Davis of North Lake Brownwood, Ruth Anderson of Abilene, Ann Walters of Roswell, N.M., and Wanda Sue Straley of Baird; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
