Deariso Duensing
RISING STAR - Deariso Duensing, 82, died Monday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Helen McIver officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Duensing was born in Brown County and was a homemaker. She moved to Rising Star in 1972. She was a Methodist and was the widow of Ed Duensing, whom she married in 1944 in Greenville.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra Manning of Clear, Alaska; and four grandchildren.

Corra Mae Petrie
CREWS - Corra Mae Petrie, 94, died Monday in a Winters nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Winters First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff May officiating. Burial will be in Crews Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mrs. Petrie was born in Burnet County and graduated from Ballinger High School. She attended Tyler Business School and worked as a bookkeeper for several years. She was a member of the Ballinger Home Demonstration Club and Friendly Ladies Class. She also taught a Ladies Bible class and served on the executive board at Winters First United Methodist Church. She was the widow of M.R. "Pete" Petrie, whom she married in 1925 in Crews.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hambright of Winters and Neysa Sommerville of San Antonio; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.

Viola Waggoner Vestal
MORTON - Viola M. Waggoner Vestal, 99, formerly of Clyde, died Jan. 1.
Services were held Jan. 3 in Taylor Street Church of Christ with Bill Schlaback and Albert McSpadden officiating. Burial was in Littlefield Memorial Park.
Mrs. Vestal was born in Oplin and grew up in Clyde. She moved to Buela in the early 1940s and Morton in 1961. She was the last survivor of the J.K. Waggoner family in Clyde.
Survivors include two sons, B.B. Vestal of O'Donnell and B.A. Vestal Jr. of Morton; five daughters, Valera Young of Olton, Florence Hancock of Roswell, N.M., Vivian Nebbut of Morton, Janet Sikes of Valley Center, Calif., and Dolores Drake of Littlefield; 28 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Alvis Lynn Sewalt
BROWNWOOD - Alvis Lynn Sewalt, 69, Brown County's first chief tax appraiser, died Tuesday in a San Angelo hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery in Brown County.
Mr. Sewalt was born in Brookesmith and lived most of his life in Brown County. He served with the U.S. Navy aboard the battleship New Jersey in the Pacific during World War II and married Maxie Brown in 1950 in Brownwood. He was a rancher and also formerly was self-employed. He was a member of American Board of Realtors, Texas Assessing Officers Association and the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; two sons, Jeff Sewalt of Brownwood and Sambo Sewalt of Athens, Texas; two daughters, Bonnie Burrus of Stephenville and Teddi Morrow of Lampasas; one sister, Alva Lee Crow of Reno, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Alta Mae Jarred
HASKELL - Alta Mae Jarred, 74, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. David Page officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Jarred was born in Haskell, where she married Jack Jarred in 1940. She was a homemaker and worked as a seamstress. She attended the Ruth Sunday School Class and taught Sunday school for many years at East Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Haskell; one son, Kenneth Jarred of Haskell; two sisters, Jean Wadlington of Belton and Patsy Decker of Rockdale; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

James Becker Waller
James Becker Waller, 75, died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Steve Harper officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Gladewater Memorial Cemetery in Gladewater.
Mr. Waller was born in Chicago, Ill., and grew up in Little Rock, Ark. He graduated from Little Rock High School in 1939 and attended the University of Omaha. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired as a major in 1968 at Dyess Air Force Base after 26 years in the Air Force. He worked for F.A. Reynolds Band Instrument Co. (now C.G. Conn, Ltd.), Abilene State School, Hendrick Medical Systems, Mayfield Paper Co., Lee Medical Supply and Pro-Bowl. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church, was a third-degree Mason and was a past director of Abilene Bowling Association. He married Ruth Louise Avant; she preceded him in death. He married Dawn Cockrell Sherrill.
Survivors include five sons, Dale Waller of Tampa, Fla., George Waller of Winston-Salem, N.C., SRA Kevin Waller of Salt Lake City, Utah, Tim Thompson of Edmund, Okla., and Jim Thompson of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; four daughters, Karen Petty of Poulsbo, Wash., Jeannie Harper of Nashville, Tenn., Leslie Waller of Port Ludlow, Wash., and Kimberly Clark of Abilene; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Abilene State School Volunteer Fund or to West Texas Rehabilitation Center.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. today.

Dalen Wills
Dalen Wills, 23, of Abilene died Sunday in Abilene after a traffic accident.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. H.B. Terry Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Wills was born in Abilene and attended Hawley High School. He was a lifetime resident of the area and worked for Allsup's Convenience Stores, Inc. He was a Baptist and the widower of Rayna Wills.
Survivors include one son, Ryker Wills of Abilene; his mother and stepfather, Elaine and Lit Adams of Hawley; one sister, Andrea Wills of Abilene; one stepsister, Valerie Northcutt of Abilene; grandparents Cora Lee Lambert of Abilene and Thurman Lambert of Caps; and numerous other relatives.

Grace Rae Rodgers
SAN ANTONIO - Grace Rae Rodgers, 93, died Saturday in Abilene.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mission Park Funeral Chapel South. Burial will be in Mission Burial Park Cemetery South.
Mrs. Rodgers was born in Tennessee and had lived in San Antonio for 15 years. She was a member of Herman and Sons Lodge and was an antique dealer for many years.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlene McDonald; one son, Richard Rodgers; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home today.

Bently McNeely
Bently McNeely, 82, of Abilene died Monday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne with Gary Wilson of Wharton officiating. Burial will be in Calvert City Cemetery in Calvert.
Mr. McNeely was born in Calvert. He was a policeman in Cisco in the late 1950s and later worked for Norvell Miller Grocery there. He returned to Calvert and was a caretaker at Calvert Country Club and Hearne Golf Course, retiring in 1979. He moved to Abilene and was a part-time security guard for U.S. Brass and Briarstone Manor banquet facility. He married Josephine Johnson McNeely in 1934; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Gloria McGough of Abilene; one sister, Noama Wilson of Victoria; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until service time.
