Essie McGuire
COLEMAN - Essie McGuire, 89, of Fort Worth, died Sunday at a Fort Worth hospital.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today at Oak Park Retirement Center Chapel with the Rev. Oliver Smith officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Rockwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating, directed by Henderson Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGuire was born in Rockwood and was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of McAllen. She married Vernon McGuire in 1924 in Cisco; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two nephews, Jimmy Austin of Fort Worth and Paul Hemphill of Garland.

Juan Gutierrez
Juan Gutierrez, 77, of Abilene died Saturday at a local hospital.
Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview, with the Rev. Joseph Uecker officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mr. Gutierrez was born in Westhoff and was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for the Texas Highway Department at Robstown for several years before moving to Abilene in 1971. He was a Catholic. He married Maria Villarreal in 1951 in Corpus Christi.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; seven daughters, Juanita Perez, Margie Valdez, Maria Portillo, Lucia Jimenez, Delores Rodriguez and Anita Gutierrez, all of Abilene, and Margarita Villanueva of Weatherford; four sons, Juan D. Gutierrez, Jose Gutierrez and Louis Gutierrez, all of Abilene, and Frank Gutierrez of Lake Dallas; one sister, Tina Martinez of Sinton; 30 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be at 402 N. Bowie.

Carrie Tucker
Carrie Tucker, 91, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Park, Okla., directed by Lowell-Tims Funeral Homes of Altus, Okla. Local arrangements were handled by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Survivors include one son, Ronnie Tucker of Dothan, Ala.; four daughters, Fran Cameron of Abington, Ill., Dorothy Bond of Salem, Ore., and Sandra Moore and Faye Prigmore, both of Abilene; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Grace Preston
Grace D. Preston, 93, died Sunday at a Houston hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Curtis officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road.
Mrs. Preston was born in DeQueen, Ark., and moved to Texas in 1906, settling on a ranch near Bronte. She graduated from Ballinger High School and from business college in Waco. She attended Indiana State University and was a member of East Chicago Woman's Club. She was past president and life member of Hardin-Simmons Round Table and the Athenian Study Club of Abilene. She married Herbert M. Preston in 1931 in Lawn.
Survivors include one daughter, Polly (Mrs. Hugh D.) Horn Jr. of Houston; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the H.M. Preston Scholarship Fund, Hardin-Simmons University; or to the donor's favorite charity.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. today.

Sibyl Mae Dean
LITTLEFIELD - Sibyl Mae Dean, 78, of Amarillo died Saturday at an Amarillo hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain officiating, assisted by Dr. Steve Buckland. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park, directed by Hammons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dean was born in Caddo, Okla., and was a longtime member of Woodmen of the World. She and her husband owned and operated Littlefield Grain Co. before moving to Amarillo in 1972. She was an office manager for Furr's Credit Union, retiring in 1988. She was a former member of First Baptist Church. She married Doyle Dean in 1943 in Clovis, N.M.
Survivors include her husband, of Amarillo; one daughter, Peggy Schroyer of Abilene; one son, Doyle Dean Jr. of Lafayette, La.; four brothers, Roy Byers Jr. of Springlake, Troy Byers of Logan, N.M., Z.T. Byers of Foreman, Ark., and Clinton Byers of Littlefield; three sisters, Jewell Baker of Littlefield, Hermie Lee Houk of Midland and Oleta Hubbard of Lubbock; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ida Mae Brooks
EARLY - Ida Mae Brooks, 66, of Bangs died Friday at a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at New Testament Holiness Church in Bangs with the Rev. Ronnie White officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, directed by Heartland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Kaufman County and attended school in Kemp. She was a minister of Jesus Mission Church in Dallas for many years and had lived in Bangs since 1990. She was a member of New Testament Holiness Church in Bangs.
Survivors include one son, Paul Stephens of Brownwood; two daughters, Kathleen Hallum of Grand Prairie and Patrina Childs of De Soto; two brothers, Luther Jordan of Dallas and Cherry Ayers of Grand Prairie; five sisters, Lillie Coleman of Bangs, Joyce Ayers of Grand Prairie, Gladys Jordan of Early and Linda Bradley and Hazel Jordan, both of Dallas; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Everett Ringo
GORDON - Everett Ringo, 90, died Saturday in Gordon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Cecil Harper and Randy Smith officiating. Burial will be in New Gordon Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.
Mr. Ringo was born in Gordon, where he graduated from high school and lived all his life. He farmed and ranched all his life and was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Mary Ellen Merriman in 1929 in Thurber.
Survivors include his wife, of Gordon; one daughter, Mary Lucille Barron of Gordon; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one niece.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.

Ethel Gladys Taylor
WINTERS - Ethel Gladys Taylor, 91, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gayland Broadstreet officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Oxford, Miss., and moved to Runnels County in 1908. She lived in the Winters area most of her life, worked at Dry Mfg. for 15 years and was a Baptist. She married Guy Taylor in 1975 in Abilene.
Survivors include one brother, Buford Pennington of Amarillo.

Bonnie Belle Wigley
BROWNWOOD - Bonnie Belle Wigley, 81, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Wigley was born in Kerens and moved to Brownwood in 1952. She was secretary at Northwest Elementary School for 15 years and a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. She married Albert Wigley in 1941 in Waco.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; two sons, David Alan Wigley of Crosbyton and Donald Burt Wigley of Dallas; four sisters, Johnnie Jo Blanton of New Braunfels, Maxine McClanahan of Baton Rouge, La., and Frieda Browning and Ruth Hadaway, both of Waco; and three grandchildren.

Sara Houghton
Sara Houghton, 72, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Houghton moved to Abilene in 1945 from Monahans and worked for Moore Business Forms for 20 years and Pender Office Supply for 15 years. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was the widow of George Houghton Jr.
Survivors include one son, Mike Houghton of Abilene; two grandchildren; and two nieces.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today in the funeral home.
