Shirley Opal Bagley
COMANCHE - Shirley Opal Bagley, 75, nurse's aide at Western Hills Nursing Home for many years before retiring, died Tuesday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pendergrass Cemetery in Sidney.
Mrs. Bagley was born in Sidney and lived in Hamilton for 15 years before returning to Comanche in 1969. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Clyde Bagley.
Survivors include one daughter, Joann Adams of Rolla, Mo.; one son, James Stewart of Bedford; three brothers, Darrell Jones of Comanche, Roy Jones of Euless and Dale Jones of White Oak; two sisters, Betty Conway of Comanche and Lou Newsome of Weatherford; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Pendergrass Cemetery Fund.

Vada Key
ALBANY - Vada (Mrs. Harry) Key, 93, died Monday in Dallas.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church with Dr. Don Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Mrs. Key was born in Archer County and moved to Albany in 1933 from Olney. She was a former member of the Albany Study Club and a former docent at the Old Jail Art Museum and The Albany Garden. She was a member of Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church and was the widow of Harry P. Key, whom she married in 1921 in Archer City.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Joe Key and Kay True, both of Dallas; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Eva Robinson Merritt
COLORADO CITY - Eva Robinson Merritt, 89, of Phoenix, Ariz., and formerly of Colorado City, died Wednesday in Phoenix.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Colorado City Cemetery with the Rev. Howard Quiett officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Merritt was born in Roff, Okla., and was a homemaker. She was a longtime Colorado City resident before moving to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was the widow of D.M. "Jake" Merritt, whom she married in 1937 in Colorado City.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Merritt of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dana Carr of Bethany, Okla.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Colorado City First United Methodist Church.

Bennie Lee Young Jr.,
Bennie Lee Young Jr., 69, one of the most engaging faces at the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road, with Dr. Cliff Stewart and the Rev. Jim Berbiglia officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
"Bennie had a good time in whatever he did," Danny Isbell, project coordinator at the Rehab Center, said of Young, who grew up in Waco. "He was always looking for the positive in people."
Mr. Young married Rosemary Nicholson in 1950 in Palestine and graduated from Baylor University in 1953. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He managed the Tulia and Gainesville chambers of commerce from 1953-60. He then headed the Lufkin office of Boy Scouts of America until 1965. Moving to Abilene, he worked in the local office of Boy Scouts of America for eight years. He then developed and built the Mardridge House.
In 1979, Young, who suffered from problems associated with diabetes, became a field representative for the Rehab Center's public relations department and stayed in that position until retiring in 1995. Young also was chief cook on the center's chuckwagon crew for about four years and a longtime overseer of the quilt auction at the annual telethon. In addition, he coordinated the Mason Rehab Days in Mason for 15 years.
The 23rd annual Stamford Art Show was dedicated in Young's honor in 1996 for his support of the art show and Stamford Cowboy Reunion.
He was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Bennie Lee Young III of Hawley; one daughter, Laurie Young Stevens of Austin; one sister, Mrs. J.C. Berbiglia of San Antonio; his mother, Jewel Young of Waco; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605; and Presbyterian Medical Care Mission, 302 Medical Drive, Abilene 79601.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Derward Cleo Bissett
BALLINGER - Derward Cleo Bissett, 79, died Monday in a San Angelo hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Ballinger First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Bissett was born in Terral, Okla., and graduated from Bangs High School in 1934. He attended Draughon's Business College in Abilene. He owned and operated Gulf and Texaco service stations and Bissett's Tire Store in Ballinger and Winters for more than 40 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Ballinger Noon Lions Club, Ballinger Masonic Lodge 643 and Senior Citizens Center. He also was a charter member of the Friendship Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church and was the widower of Eula May Clark Bissett, whom he married in 1939 in Ballinger.
Survivors include one son, Robert C. Bissett of Mansfield, La.; one daughter, Brenda Fleetwood of Ballinger; one sister, LaVerne McDonald of Granbury; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Myrtle Sinclair
PLAINVIEW - Myrtle Sinclair, 91, relative of two Big Country residents, died Tuesday in a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in 9th & Columbia Street Church of Christ with Kenneth Sinclair and Alton Williams officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park, directed by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sinclair was born in Stamford, where she attended school. She farmed near Petersburg in Hale County before moving to Bellview in Floyd County. She returned to Petersburg in 1937 and moved to Plainview in 1957. She worked as a dietician at Plainview Hospital and Nichols Clinic before retiring in 1969. She was a member of 9th & Columbia Street Church of Christ and was the widow of W.H. "Harry" Sinclair, whom she married in 1925 in Haskell.
Survivors include one daughter, Helen McWhorter of Plainview; two sons, Wayne Sinclair of Catawissa, Pa., and Kenneth Sinclair of Abilene; four brothers, Haskell Sandefur of Killeen, Pat Sandefur of Hermleigh, Vick Sandefur of Alvarado and Glen Sandefur of Fort Worth; two sisters, Nan Rankin of Lubbock and Dorothy Dean of Angleton; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Swan Cramer
COLORADO CITY - Swan Cramer, 95, of Granbury and formerly of Colorado City, died Tuesday in a Granbury hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Kerry Cain officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery.
Mrs. Cramer was born in Erath County and graduated from Abilene Christian University. She taught school in Mitchell and Howard counties for about 50 years. She lived in Colorado City for 37 years before moving to Granbury five months ago. She was a member of the retired teachers association and Colorado City Church of Christ, and was the widow of Boone Cramer, whom she married in 1928.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Cramer of Los Fresnos and William F. Cramer of Granbury; one sister, Cleo McCreight of Sweetwater; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Frank Carter
WINTERS - Frank Carter, 61, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jim Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter was born in View and married Ruby Stephan in 1957 in Abilene. He moved to Runnels County in 1959 and served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis. He worked as a welder and was a farmer. He was employed by the San Angelo Feed Yard at the time of his death. He was commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9193 and was a member of the church council at St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Winters; one son, John Carter of San Angelo; three daughters, Rhonda Goetz of Winters, Karen Walden of Abilene and Michelle Baylouny of Uvalde; two sisters, Pat LaLiberte of Jupiter, Fla., and Betty Layton of Abilene; and four grandchildren.

Hazel Brooke
COLEMAN - Hazel (Mrs. J.B.) Brooke, 84, of Abilene and formerly of Coleman, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery.
Mrs. Brooke was born in Hamilton County and attended school in Echo. She moved to Abilene in 1953 from Coleman County and worked as a seamstress. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was the widow of J.B. Brooke, whom she married in 1931 in Coleman.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Blackwell of Coleman and Shirley Clark of Abilene; one son, James Brooke of Beeville; two sisters, Lorene Beeler and Bobbie Lee Gardner, both of Coleman; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
