Opal Locks
ZEPHYR - Opal Locks, 85, died Monday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with the Revs. Ed Garrett and Steven Baker officiating. Burial will be in Zephyr Cemetery.
Mrs. Locks was born at Indian Creek and was a longtime Zephyr resident. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse at Brownwood Regional Hospital for many years before retiring. She was a member of Zephyr Baptist Church and was the widow of Hubert S. Locks, whom she married in 1929 in Zephyr.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Sue McKinney of Brownwood; two brothers, Marion Reasoner of Azle and Fred Reasoner of Bangs; one sister, Iva Mae Heath of Brownwood; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Hugh Hemby
HAMLIN - Hugh H. Hemby, 95, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Foster-Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tracy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery.
Mr. Hemby was born in Spiro, Okla., and moved to Roswell, N.M. in 1940, where he owned and operated a restaurant, and to Hamlin in 1968. He was the widower of Susie Pittman Hemby, whom he married in 1920 in Paul's Valley, Okla.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Duckworth of Garland and Hurene Allison of Lake Coleman; two brothers, George Hemby of Roswell, N.M., and Les Hemby of Fort Smith, Ark.; one sister, Frieda Johnson of Modesto, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Nellie Hash
STEPHENVILLE - Nellie Hash, 81, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Morgan Mill Church of Christ with Frank Briscoe and Ralph Starling officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Albany Cemetery, directed by Lacy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hash was born in Jean and married Harvey Daniel Hash Sr. in 1937 in Albany. She was a homemaker and was invited to play the piano at a recent governor's convention in Austin. She also was a pianist at the senior citizens center for five years. She was a director of the Woodmen of the World Youth Camp in Brownwood and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Stephenville; one son, Harvey Hash Jr. of Weatherford; two brothers, Henry Adams of Graham and Robert Abbott of Chico; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Wayne James
EASTLAND - Wayne James, 40, died Monday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Merriman Cemetery with the Rev. Rex Boggs officiating, directed by Bakker Funeral Home.
Mr. James was born in Brady and moved to Eastland in 1965. He worked as a welder for Snead Construction, Texas Rail Car Corp. and Joe Bob Oilfield, now Eagle Construction, until an automobile accident in 1983 left him paralyzed. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his parents, Dolores Squires James of Eastland and L.C. James of Dallas; two sisters, Sharon Montgomery of Graham and Dianne Barton of Eastland; two nephews and three nieces; and three great-nieces.

William Whelchel
William A. Whelchel, 58, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services with military honors will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd, with Capt. Edward Alonzo officiating.
Mr. Whelchel was born in Queen City and moved to Abilene in 1974 from San Antonio. He was a retired technical sergeant of the U.S. Air Force and married Wilma "Kay" Dry in 1996 in Abilene. He worked as a cabinet maker.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Robin Ruparcich of Abilene and Brenda Whelchel of San Antonio; his mother, Jewel Whelchel of Cottage Hills, Ill.; three brothers, Douglas Whelchel and Kenny Whelchel, both of San Antonio, and Michael Whelchel of Abilene; one sister, Dorothy Bailey of Blanchard, La.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be in the funeral home after the service.

Vada Stamey
Vada L. Stamey, 88, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Abilene State School Cemetery with Chaplain Chuck Webber officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Ms. Stamey was born in Dallas and moved to the Abilene State School in 1929.
Survivors include one great-niece, Fredine Jenson of Wichita Falls.

Lloyd Cory
Lloyd Cory, 84, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Curtis Dickinson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Cory was born in Des Moinis, N.M., and graduated from high school in Trinidad, Colo. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and received a bronze star. He married Wanda McGirk in 1948 in Denver and lived in Lubbock for 25 years before moving to Abilene. He worked as a claims adjustor for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co. for 21 years and was a SCORE volunteer. He was a member of Elmwood West Lions Club and was an elder at Southwest Park Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, David Lloyd Cory of Abilene; one brother, Don Cory of Arcadia, Calif.; and two sisters, Edna Cornstock of Warrick, Ore., and Dorothy Cottle of Tustin, Calif.

Shyanna Nicole Steele
CLYDE - Shyanna Nicole Steele, 2, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Clyde First Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Hatfield and Jerry Joplin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Shyanna was born in Abilene and grew up in Clyde. She returned to Abilene in 1996.
Survivors include her mother, Michelle Steele of Abilene; her father, Lewis McWhorter of San Diego; her stepfather, Rusty Jolly of Abilene; her maternal grandmother, Marilyn Vincent of Clyde; her paternal grandmother, Beth Dotzler of Emily, Minn.; her maternal great-grandparents, James and Maybelle Steele Sr. of Clyde; her step grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smithwick of Oplin; and her maternal great-great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bodine of Goldsboro.

Bonnie Fay Tabor
LUEDERS - Bonnie Fay Tabor, 66, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Avoca Methodist Church with the Revs. Mark Chadwick and Ron Strickland officiating. Burial will be in Clearfork Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford.
Mrs. Tabor was born in Melrose, N.M., and was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was the widow of Billy Ray Tabor, whom she married in 1947 in Albany.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Tabor of Lueders and Bob Tabor of Seminole; five daughters, Sherry Ford of Jayton, Gerry Baker of Munday, Linda Huffaker of Avoca, and Becky Jensen and Glenda Mullins, both of Lueders; two brothers, James Hill of Stamford and Bobby Hill of Lubbock; one sister, Nelda Blacklock of Abilene; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

CARBON - Due to inclement weather, services for Vivian Cole Fox have been rescheduled for 3:45 p.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland.
Mrs. Fox, 76, of Abilene and formerly of Carbon, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
