Margaret Jewell Thomas
CISCO - Margaret Jewell Thomas, 88, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oakwood Cemetery with Bob Ferguson and Roy Cartee officiating, directed by Chambers-Wilcox Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Cisco and was the widow of Marshall Thomas, whom she married in 1939.
Survivors include one son, Rex Berry of Cisco; one brother, W.T. Manning of Abilene; one sister, Ina Greer of Odessa; and many nieces and nephews.

Hazel Olive Featherston
CORRIGAN - Hazel Olive Featherston, 87, of Abilene and formerly of Corrigan, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin, directed by Corrigan Funeral Home.
Mrs. Featherston was born in Cherokee, Okla., and worked as a bookkeeper for Mehl Machinery for many years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Abilene and was the widow of Charles M. Featherston Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Margie Nell Eaton of Lake Coleman; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Tommy Melvin Thompson
CISCO - Tommy Melvin Thompson, 42, lifelong local resident, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church with John Clinton officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, directed by Chambers-Wilcox Funeral Directors.
Mr. Thompson married Arlene Ainsworth in 1973 and was a rancher. He worked as a pipeline gauger for Valero Energy Corp.
Survivors include his wife, of Cisco; two sons, Tommy M. Thompson Jr. and Timothy Thompson, both of Cisco; his mother, Dean Thompson of Cisco; three brothers, Paul Thompson of Austin, Jack Thompson of Abilene and James Thompson of Denison; and two sisters, Betty Olson and Mary Thompson, both of Salem, Ore.

Jack Sullivan Brown
EASTLAND - Jack Sullivan Brown, 79, of Lake Leon, died Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elvis Whaley officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born in Aspermont and married Wilma Vaughn in 1939. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and moved to Eastland County in 1971 from Clyde. He was a retired rancher and was a deacon at Mangum Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Eastland; two sons, Bobby Brown of Midland and Ronnie Brown of Clyde; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jewell Dean
BALLINGER - Jewell G. Dean, 91, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Henry Chisholm officiating. Burial will be in Old Runnels Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dean was born in Baird and worked as a self-employed seamstress for many years. She was the widow of Ernest Herbert "Hub" Dean, whom she married in 1923 in Paint Rock.
Survivors include two sons, Herbert H. Dean and Bill Dean, both of Ballinger; one daughter, Martha Palmer of Ballinger; one sister, Ada Wilson of Greenwood, Miss.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

G.W. 'Bill' Michael
EASTLAND - G.W. "Bill" Michael, 66, of Lake Leon, died Tuesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Carlton Cemetery, northwest of Hamilton, with the Rev. Benedict Zientek officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Michael was born in May and graduated from May High School in 1947, Daniel Baker College in Brownwood and Texas Christian University. He was a high school teacher, coach and principal in Texas for 30 years before retiring in 1987. He returned to May in 1987 and moved to Lake Leon in 1996. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brownwood.
Survivors include one son, Mark Michael of Lake Leon; and two grandchildren.

James 'Jim' Pool
STEPHENVILLE - James "Jim" Pool, 71, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Blagg and Jim Warmerdam officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Pool was born in Richland Springs and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Christine Williams in 1948 in Brownwood and worked as a mechanical engineer for Mobil Oil for 32 years. He was president of J&J Services. He moved to Stephenville in 1978 from Odessa and was a charter member of the Texas 4-H Adult Leaders Association. He was a member of Greens Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Stephenville; one son, James N. Pool Jr. of Stephenville; one sister, Norma Grantham of Harlingen; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association or Texas 4-H Foundation.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Hattie Bell Martin
Hattie Bell Martin, 81, a staff member at Hardin-Simmons University for 36 years before retiring in 1978, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Jud Powell officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Funston.
Ms. Martin was born in Swans Chapel in Jones County and graduated from Stamford High School and, in 1940, Hardin-Simmons University. She attended Gail Business College. She started working at HSU in 1942 and was a secretary to the business manager, athletic secretary and then as assistant to the alumni director. During her tenure, she served under seven HSU presidents. She was employed by Edward D. Jones & Co. from 1985-90. She received, in 1996 from HSU, the John J. Keeter Jr. Alumni Award which is the highest honor that can be given to an HSU ex-student. She was a member of View Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Kenneth Martin of Anson and Don Martin of Hereford; and one sister, Faye Pundt of Houston.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Charles Bagwell
Charles A. Bagwell, 60, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. James King officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. Bagwell was born in Littlefield and moved to the Abilene area in 1967. He worked as a self-employed paint contractor and married Alene Ray in 1980 in Baird. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; three sons, Jimmy Bagwell of Sacramento, Calif., Ray Bagwell of Hamby and David Boatright of Abilene; four daughters, Teresa Bagwell, Melissa Eakin, Tamela Platt and Brenda Bagwell, all of Abilene; two sisters, Lee Neinest and Hilda Cummings, both of Littlefield; and 16 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
