Juan Gutierrez
Juan Gutierrez, 77, died Feb. 1 in a local hospital.
A memorial service with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. Gutierrez was born in Westhoff. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a combat infantry badge, EAME Campaign Ribbon with two bronze stars, victory ribbon, good conduct medal and Army of Occupation Ribbon with two overseas service bars. He married Maria Villarreal in 1951 in Corpus Christi, and worked for the Texas Highway Department in Robstown for several years before moving to Abilene in 1971. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; seven daughters, Juanita Perez, Margie Valdez, Maria Portillo, Lucia Jimenez, Deloris Rodriguez and Anita Gutierrez, all of Abilene, and Margarita Villanueva of Weatherford; four sons, Juan D. Gutierrez, Jose Gutierrez and Louis Gutierrez, all of Abilene, and Frank Gutierrez of Lake Dallas; one sister, Tina Martinez of Sinton; 30 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be at 850 Poplar.

Travis Austin Taylor
Travis Austin Taylor, 90, charter member of Bible Chapel Church, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bible Chapel Church with Quanah Jobe officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Taylor was born in Kempner, where he graduated from high school. He married Mae Taylor in 1935 in Lubbock and moved to Abilene in 1963 from Sweetwater. He worked for Southwest Community Services, Sears, and Mobile Home Mart. He also was a private guitar teacher and was a part-time member of the original Chuck Wagon Gang in Lubbock.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Carolyn Taylor Woods of Abilene and Linda Taylor Brookreson of Buffalo Gap; one sister, Estelle Taylor Fudge of Copperas Cove; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Bible Chapel Church, 5158 Twylight Trail, Abilene 79606.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jewel Wilma Farmer Reasor
Jewel Wilma Farmer Reasor, 91, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Huff Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro. Burial will be in Dixie Cemetery. Local arrangements were made by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mrs. Reasor was born in Madill, Okla., and moved to Denison as a child. She graduated from licensed vocational nursing school and worked at Wilson M. Jones Hospital in Sherman. She moved to Abilene in 1978 and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She was the widow of Henry James Farmer and Cass A. Reasor.
Survivors include one son, Donald J. Farmer of Abilene; one daughter, Eloise Hudson of Abilene; one sister, Dovie Woolsey of Sherwood Shores; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

Calvin Stevens
DRIPPING SPRINGS - Calvin Stevens, 70, brother of two Big Country residents, died Tuesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with the Rev. Mike Patterson officiating, directed by Harrell Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Stevens graduated from Hardin-Simmons University and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired after 25 years as a special field representative for U.S. Fidelity and Guarantee Insurance Co. He then worked in the building industry in Dripping Springs. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include four sons, Terry Stevens and Bobby Stevens, both of Dripping Springs, Joe Dell Stevens of Pakistan and Ryan Stevens of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Ruth Tipton of Merkel and Ruby Toombs of Abilene; and 12 grandchildren.

The Rev. John Boyce Dwiggins
BRECKENRIDGE - The Rev. John Boyce Dwiggins, 91, died Tuesday.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Harpersville Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Rev. Dwiggins was born in Breckenridge and graduated from North Texas State University, Hardin-Simmons University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He worked as a county school superintendent in Breckenridge in the 1930s and was a military chaplain with the rank of captain in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. He was a Baptist minister for more than 40 years in Louisiana, Texas and Colorado.
Survivors include three children, Donna Woods of Houston, Darci Hill of Huntsville and John David Dwiggins of Austin; one sister, Leona Erwin of Farmington, N.M.; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a ministerial scholarship fund at Hardin-Simmons University and left at the funeral home.

Harmon White
STEPHENVILLE - Harmon White, 84, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Graham Street Church of Christ with Ralph Starling, Silas Short and Rodger Weems officiating. Burial will be in Ramsey Cemetery, directed by Stephenville Funeral Home.
Mr. White was born in Retreat, Texas, and married Waldeane "Deane" Short in 1936 in Portales, N.M. He moved to Cotton Center in 1936 and Stephenville in 1978, and was a retired grain elevator owner and operator. He also was a farmer and International Harvester dealer. He was a member of Graham Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Stephenville; one son, J.C. White of Comanche; two daughters, Pat Varner of Abilene and Judi Lee of Olton; one sister, Lyndelle McClanahan of Dallas; and one nephew.
Memorials may be sent to Foster Home for Children, P.O. Box 978, Stephenville 76401.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Vanessa Ivy Mowery
RANGER - Vanessa Ivy Mowery, 18, died Thursday after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Mesquite and Rusk Street Church of Christ with Jim Hall officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Miss Mowery was born in Overton and moved to Ranger when she was in the third grade. She continued until the 10th grade when her illness kept her from finishing school. She was a member of Mesquite and Rusk Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her parents, William and Barbara Mowery of Ranger; one sister, Deloise Mowery of Ranger; her paternal grandfather, George Mowery Sr. of Kilgore; and her maternal grandfather, Robert Risinger of Gerry, Texas.
The body may be viewed in the funeral home starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Joe Wina Warren
SNYDER - Joe Wina Warren, 81, died Wednesday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in North College Avenue Baptist Church with the Revs. Cliff Cooper, Charles Day and Gary Wester officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Warren was born in Quinlan and was a lifelong resident of Scurry and Fisher counties. She was a homemaker and was the widow of Clarence Hendrix. She married P.R. Warren in 1962 in Snyder and was a member of North College Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Snyder; two daughters, Rheta Thomson of Rotan and Betty Warren of Crowley; one son, Carl Hendrix of Helena, Mont.; two sisters, Frances Austin of Snyder and Leona Henton of Waterford, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

David Scott Atkins
BROWNWOOD - David Scott Atkins, 39, died Tuesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Swindler officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Atkins was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and moved to Brownwood in 1976. He worked for Santa Fe Railway for several years.
Survivors include two sons, Brandon Scott Atkins and Dustin Atkins, both of Brownwood; his mother and stepfather, Elouise and Burleigh Redus of Austin; two brothers, Bruce Atkins of San Diego and Andrew Atkins of Bryan; one sister, Michelle Patterson of Plano; and his grandmother, Ruth Jordan of Austin.
