Dan Benton
HASKELL - Dan Benton, 26, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Willow Cemetery with the Rev. David Page officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mr. Benton was born in Cleburne and was employed by Shortes, Inc. He graduated from Paint Creek High School.
Survivors include his mother, May Belle Benton of Haskell; two brothers, James Benton and Ben Benton, both of Haskell; two sisters, Penny Young and Barbara Hagard, both of Haskell; six nephews and three nieces.

R.A. Boyd
HAMLIN - R.A. Boyd, 66, died Sunday at a Big Spring hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brigham officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd was born in Houston and lived in the Hamlin area, Corpus Christi, San Antonio and Monahans. He was a construction supervisor and an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, John David Boyd of Corpus Christi and Jimmy Ray Boyd of Junction; three daughters, Ellen Elaine Hinchclif of Rockport and Rebecca Sullivan and Deborah Guitterez, both of Corpus Christi; three brothers, Lilburn Boyd of Carlsbad, N.M., James Boyd of Fort Worth and Durwood Boyd of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Lorene Wilson and Frances Montgomery, both of Hamlin; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Juanita Flaniken
Juanita Flaniken, 72, died Monday at a local nursing center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery.
Mrs. Flaniken was born in Brownfield and grew up in West Texas. She graduated from Moran High School and lived in Texas City, Maple, Garden City and Franklin before moving to Abilene in 1974. She was district president, national director and district reporter for Indoor Sports for the Handicapped Club, District 8. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of Eastern Star. She married Michael Flaniken in 1942.
Survivors include one son, Michael Flaniken of Abilene; two brothers, Ewing Edwards of Abilene and Luther Edwards of Sundown; two sisters, Tennie Gilbreth and Grace Thompson, both of Abilene; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. today.

Maxine Leddy
Maxine E. Leddy, 87, formerly of Abilene, who with her husband owned and operated Leddy's Boots and Western Wear until 1965, died Friday at a Jayton nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Benny Hahn officiating, assisted by Fred Myers. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Leddy was born in Clairmont, Kent County, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Abilene from San Angelo in 1948 and to Jayton in 1991. She was a member of University Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She married R. Clifford Leddy in 1938 in Midland; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one sister, Inez Hart Malett of Kent County, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. today.

Cleo Hagan
Cleo Hagan, 90, died Monday at a local nursing center.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Bush officiating. Burial will be in Clyde Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Hagan was born in Hamby and grew up in the Fort Phantom area. She moved to Abilene in 1940 and worked at the Chicken Shack for several years and Taylor Elementary cafeteria for 10 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married Clee Hagan in 1926 in Fort Worth.
Survivors include four daughters, Ann (Mrs. Harold) Smith and Wanda (Mrs. O.M.) Lindsey, both of Abilene, Dorothy (Mrs. John) Sklar of Brenham and Hazel (Mrs. Ray) Zak of Hurst; one sister, Irene Prew of Abilene; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

Jacob Paul Espinoza
Jesus Israel Espinoza III and Jacob Paul Espinoza, infant twin sons of Jesus Israel "Jesse" Espinoza Jr. and Denette DeAnda Espinoza, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. Ben Gonzales officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
Survivors include one sister, Brittany Kay DeAnda of Abilene; grandparents Paul V. and Irma DeAnda and Jesus H. and Ernistina Espinoza of Abilene; great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Juan Jaramillo, Mr. and Mrs. Andres Martinez Sr. and Diamantina Hernandez; and several aunts and uncles.

Charles 'Chuck' Schroeder Jr.
Charles E. "Chuck" Schroeder Jr., 82, of Abilene, a former commander of Tye Air Force Base, died Monday at a local hospital.
Wake service will be at 7 p.m. today at Elmwood Funeral Home chapel, 5750 Hwy. 277 South. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Fred Nawarskas officiating. Private graveside services will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Schroeder was born in Westhope, N.D., attended the University of North Dakota and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel. He founded Formation Testers, which he operated from 1952-1979. He was vice president of Chisholm Exploration from 1980-1993. He married Marge Nichols in 1953.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Schroeder of New York; one son, Charles "Cactus" Schroeder III of Abilene; and two granddaughters.
Memorials may be made to Disability Resources, Inc., 3601 N. Danville Drive, Abilene 79603; or the donor's favorite charity.

Cleo Flanagan
Cleo Flanagan, 93, of Abilene died Sunday at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Harry Gaston Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Smithwick Cemetery in Italy, Tex., directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Mrs. Flanagan was born in Gilmer and had lived in Abilene for more than 60 years. She lived in Italy, Tex., before that, where she was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, serving as Sunday school secretary-treasurer, and was a member of Missionary Society and the choir. She was a member of the original West Texas Baptist District Association.
Survivors include four nieces, two nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

J.R. 'Raymond' Davis
HASKELL - J.R. "Raymond" Davis, 94, died Monday at a local care home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Truett Kuenstler officiating. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Davis was born in Robertson County and moved to Haskell County in 1906. He was a farmer and a member of Paint Creek United Methodist Church. He married Lillian Pirkle in 1922 in Haskell; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Retha Region of Abilene, Frankie Boase of Hawley and Johnnie Lytle of Midland; three sons, Boyd "Red" Davis of Hobbs, N.M., Taylor Davis of Clyde and Jerry A. Davis of Wichita Falls; 16 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
