COLORADO CITY - Ellen Smith, 56, lifelong local resident, died Monday in a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Christian Temple Church with the Revs. Henry Lee, Earl Shelton and Robert Bracy officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell County Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Colorado City, where she married Jimmy Smith in 1958. She was a homemaker and was a member of King Solomon Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Colorado City; one daughter, Verna Green of Albuquerque, N.M.; one son, Kenneth Green of Tyler; six sisters, Geneva Mays of Colorado City, Juanita Trotter and Helen Green, both of Topeka, Kan., Frances Tryon and Edna Wilson, both of Lubbock, and Dorothy Wilson of Odessa; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Deloris Martin
SANTA ANNA - Deloris H. Martin, 71, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Jefferson Street Church of Christ in Hobbs, N.M., with Virgel Webb officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Hobbs, directed by Walker Funeral Home of Coleman.
Mrs. Martin was born in Coleman and attended school in Echo, Burke and Los Creek in Coleman County. She was a homemaker. She moved to Hobbs, N.M. in 1954 and returned to Coleman County in 1996. She was a member of Jefferson Street Church of Christ in Hobbs, N.M., and was the widow of William L. Martin, whom she married in 1964 in Dimmitt.
Survivors include one daughter, Olene Ellis of Corpus Christi; two sons, Duane Dobbins of Hobbs, N.M., and Dan Dobbins of Santa Anna; two sisters, Wanda Kay of Dimmitt and Mldred Mayson of Artesia, N.M.; one brother, James Harrell of Albuquerque, N.M.; and nine grandchildren.
The body will be at the funeral home until 10 a.m. today, and then at the church in Hobbs, N.M. from noon-1:30 p.m. Friday.

Gilbert Torrez Gomez
LORAINE - Gilbert Torrez Gomez, 48, employed by the TU Power Plant in Colorado City for 15 years, died Wednesday in a Colorado City hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel in Colorado City. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Colorado City with the Rev. Ray Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be in Loraine Cemetery.
Mr. Gomez was born in Sweetwater. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and received a purple heart. He married Mary Helen Lujan in 1974 in Sweetwater and moved to Loraine in 1980 from Sweetwater. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Colorado City.
Survivors include his wife, of Loraine; one daughter, Margo Gomez of Loraine; one son, Miguel Gomez of Loraine; his mother, Candelaria Torrez Gomez of Sweetwater; two sisters, Sandra Gomez and Elva DeLaCruz, both of Sweetwater; one brother, Raymond Gomez Jr. of Sweetwater; and two nieces and six nephews.

Nell Groene
Nell Groene, 92, cashier at Clinic Pharmacy for 20 years before retiring, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Claude Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel.
Mrs. Groene was born in Merkel, where she graduated from high school. She attended Abilene Christian College, now Abilene Christian University, and the Kidd Key Music Conservatory in Sherman. She moved to Abilene in 1947 and was a piano teacher. She was a member of Rose Park Senior Citizens, American Association of Retired Persons, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Woodlawn Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Nell Slagle of Dallas and Ann Solis of West Covina, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three nieces and three nephews.

Patricia Gail Boling
ALTUS, Okla. - Patricia Gail Boling, 46, relative of two Abilene residents, died Wednesday at her home after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Altus City Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Luschen officiating, directed by Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs. Boling was born in Amarillo, where she graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1969. She moved to Altus in 1970. She married Larry Boling in 1972 in Pryor, Okla., and worked as a restaurant cook in the Altus area.
Survivors include her husband, of Altus; two children, Gary Boling and Jerry Boling, both of Altus; two stepchildren, Sherry Lynn Cannon of North Carolina and Jodie Loraine Talbert of Wichita, Kan.; her mother, Willene Drake Strout of Abilene; two sisters, Sandra Louise Melton of Anadarko, Okla., and Neva Wise of Abilene; two step grandchildren; and several aunts and uncles.

Newton Riley
BROWNWOOD - Newton E. Riley, 73, of Lake Brownwood, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Desdemona Cemetery with Mike Patterson and Bill Merritt officiating, directed by Nowlin Funeral Home of De Leon.
Mr. Riley was born in Blanket and was a technical sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Corps' 447th Bomb Group during World War II. He was a retired pipeline inspector of Northern Natural Gas and moved to Brownwood in 1989 from Stinnett. He was a Mason. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and was the widower of Betty Brown Riley, whom he married in 1943 in Munday.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas N. Riley of Abilene and William E. Riley of Brownwood; and four grandchildren.

Tula Black
ANSON - Tula Black, 94, died Wednesday in Anson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Anson First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jack Maddox and Larry Baird officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Black was born in Jones County and attended school in Oak Grove. She owned and operated the Hawley Cafe in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and also was a waitress and cook in other cafes. She was employed by the Anson school system in its lunchroom. She was a member of Prairie View Baptist Church and was the widow of E.J. Black Sr., whom she married in 1918.
Survivors include two sons, E.J. Black Jr. of Anson and James Black of Stamford; two daughters, Etta Woodard of Hawley and Frances Ward of Anson; two brothers, J.L. Beasley of Truby and Scott Beasley of Abilene; one sister, Mollie Frances Martin of Anson; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Hazel Hart Scarlett
BRECKENRIDGE - Hazel Hart Scarlett, 85, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Melton Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Revs. Joe Stewart and Cecil Harper officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Scarlett was born in Stephens County and graduated from Parks Camp High School. She attended Draughan's Business College and was a homemaker. She moved to Breckenridge in 1980 from Snyder. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was the widow of Claude Scarlett, whom she married in 1929 in Breckenridge.
Survivors include two sisters, Mabel Noland of Arlington and Doris Ayers of Breckenridge; and two nephews and two nieces.

Ila Mae Dobson
COLEMAN - Ila Mae (Mrs. Joe) Dobson, 92, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery.
Mrs. Dobson was born in Grayson County and married Joe Dobson in 1925 in Sherman. She was a homemaker and was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star chapter in Midland. She also was a past president of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raiser's Association Women's Auxiliary. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Coleman; one daughter, Martha Jo Griffis of Coleman; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church in Coleman or West Texas Boys Ranch in San Angelo.
