Ida Belle Barbera
BALLINGER - Ida Belle Barbera, 79, died Sunday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Winters. Graveside services will be March 18 in San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, Calif., directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barbera was born in Pottsboro and moved from Dallas to San Francisco, Calif., in 1945. She moved to Ripon, Calif., after retiring in 1975 and to Ballinger in 1995.
Survivors include four daughters, Gloria Ann Larrimore of Marion, S.C., June Gerber of Reno, Nev., Dorothy Dahmann of Ballinger and Susan Hennings of San Rafael, Calif.; one son, Bill Cox of Aurora, Colo.; two sisters, Ruby Kizzare of Chandler, Ariz., and Maud Sowder of Muleshoe; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Joe Wilson
WINTERS - Joe S. Wilson, 80, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Wingate Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was born in Milford and moved to Runnels County as a child. He lived in Tatum, N.M., for 31 years, returning to Winters in 1982. He was a stock farmer and a Baptist. He married Avinell Allen in 1940 in Yuma, Ariz.
Survivors include his wife, of Winters; one son, Bo Wilson of New Braunfels; one daughter, Norene Evans of Portales, N.M.; one brother, Walter "Buck" Wilson of Port Aransas; three sisters, Margaret McKown of New Braunfels, Emma Marks of Winters and Martha Middleton of Pioneer, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Allene Free
Allene Free, 88, inducted into the Cooper High School Hall of Fame in 1996, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Archie Echols officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Free was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1925, McMurry University in 1929 and Hardin-Simmons University in 1949. She taught school for nearly 40 years and began her career as a music teacher in Haskell. She was a music instructor at Central Elementary in Abilene for 12 years, and in 1949, transferred to South Junior High, now Jefferson Middle School, where she was an English teacher and newspaper sponsor. Moving to Cooper High School in 1961, she taught English and creative writing, started the school's literary magazine, the Commentarius, and sponsored the Future Teachers of America before retiring in 1974. She was a member of Abilene Retired Teachers Association, Abilene Shakespeare Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Sorosis Club and St. Paul United Methodist Church, and was the widow of Jack Free, whom she married in 1931 in El Paso.
Survivors include one daughter, Jan Williamson of Lubbock; two sisters, Onah Webb and Fay Langston, both of Abilene; two grandchildren; and one niece.
The family will be at 3302 S. 7th.

Ricardo 'Loco' Esparza Rios
Ricardo "Loco" Esparza Rios, 36, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in City Cemetery with the Revs. Joe Uecker and Ediberto Marquez officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Rios was born in El Paso and attended Abilene High School. He was a self-employed roofer and was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Rios Jr. and Joey Rodriguez, both of Abilene; two daughters, Amanda Rios and Jackie Rios, both of Abilene; three brothers, Luis Rios of Las Vegas, Nev., David Rios of Dallas and Ruben Esparza of Abilene; one sister, Frances Esparza of Abilene; his grandmother, Sofia Aquinaga of El Paso; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Marian Bash Dunlap
Marian Bash Dunlap, 96, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Private graveside services will be Thursday in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Ky., directed by Resthaven Funeral Home of Louisville. Local arrangements are being made by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Dunlap was born in Otter Creek, Pa., and graduated from high school in Greenville, Pa. She attended Teacher's College, and was a school teacher and a homemaker. She moved to Abilene in 1989 from Slippery Rock, Pa., and was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church. She also was an elder in the Presbyterian church and was the widow of Willard T. Dunlap, whom she married in 1921 in Mercer, Pa.
Survivors include one son, Richard O. Dunlap of Abilene; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Cagle Hunt
KILLEEN - Cagle Hunt, 55, formerly of Abilene, died Monday in a Harker Heights nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Clements Chapel of Killeen First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Towers officiating. Burial will be in Killeen Memorial Park, directed by Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.
Mr. Hunt was born in Dodson and attended school in McLean. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1937. He married Zelma Richardson in 1937 in Abilene and was a World War II veteran. He was a school teacher and principal in Killeen from 1969-82 and a principal of Bellair Elementary for eight years. He was a life member of the Lions Club and Parent-Teacher Association, and also was a member of Killeen Masonic Lodge 1125 and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 490. He was a deacon at First Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, of Killeen; two daughters, Holly Hunt of Winnetka, Ill., and Madelon Eichhorn of Broomville, Calif.; one son, Preston Hunt of Carrollton; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

William Karl Bonneaux Jr.
PALM BAY, Fla. - William Karl Bonneaux Jr., 77, formerly of the Big Country, died Saturday in Palm Bay.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Fairview Cemetery near Millsap, Texas, directed by White's Funeral Home of Weatherford, Texas.
Mr. Bonneaux was born in Strawn and attended school in Trent. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1941 and later from the University of Texas. Starting his military career in 1941, he served in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations during World War II and flew more than 100 combat missions as a member of the 14th Air Force's Flying Tigers. He eventually earned the rank of colonel and worked in Taiwan, Formosa, Libya and Vietnam. He also was assigned to the Pentagon, and was deputy commander of Stewart Air Force Base in New York and vice commander of Randolph AFB in San Antonio.
He earned three Chinese medals equivalent to the U.S. Air Force's Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as an Air Medal, Legion of Merit award, Vietnamese Gallantry Cross Star, Armed Forces Honor Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Longevity Award with four bronze oak leaf clusters and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
Retiring from the Air Force in 1971, he moved to Palm Bay, where he was the chamber of commerce's executive president for many years and a member of the city's planning and zoning board and recreation board. He also operated a hardware store in Port Malabar, Fla. and was a substitute school teacher. He was named Man of the Year in 1976 by the city of Palm Bay. He was the widower of Helen Meneratti McCormack Bonneaux, whom he married in 1946 in Nanking, China.
Survivors include three daughters, Marilou Campbell of Abilene, Karol Fitzgerald of Miami and Phyllis Bonneaux-Morrow of Palm Bay; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Mary Jane Barksdale
SAN ANTONIO - Mary Jane Barksdale, 94, formerly of Abilene, died Saturday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Northside Church of Christ with Chris Bowers officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, directed by Misson Park Funeral Chapels North.
Mrs. Barksdale was born in Basin Springs and formerly lived in Corpus Christi. She was a charter member of GATA, a woman's social club at Abilene Christian University, and also was a member of Daughters of American Revolution and Ayers Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Rado Archer of Midland and Dr. Jim Paul Archer of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Clarice Mathews
BROWNFIELD - Clarice Mathews, 55, formerly of the Big Country, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Brownfield Church of Christ with Bob Reynolds, R.D. Jones and Don Godwin officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with John Risse officiating, directed by Brownfield Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mathews was born in Abilene and graduated from Old Glory High School in 1959 and Abilene Christian University in 1963. She married Ronald D. Mathews in 1964 in Abilene and taught school in Snyder, Fort Worth and Brownfield. She lived in Fort Worth, Abilene and Dumas before moving to Brownfield in 1983, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownfield; one daughter, Shana Ford of Anton; one son, Jason David Mathews of Tulsa, Okla., her father, Vernon Leverett of Abilene; one sister, Sharon Qualls of Abilene; two brothers, Sandy Leverett of Fort Stockton and Jimmy Leverett of Farmington, N.M.; and two grandchildren.
