Jack Barker
ROBY - Jack Barker, 72, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Belvieu Cemetery with the Rev. Loren Gardner officiating, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Barker was born in Fisher County, where he lived all his life except for 16 years in California. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and was an electrical contractor. He married Bobbie Fancher in 1973 in Rotan.
Survivors include his wife, of Roby; one son, Michael Barker of Odessa; two sisters, Vesta Burns of Anson and Cleo Dereck of Hillsboro, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

Mildred Dean
COLORADO CITY - Mildred M. Dean, 68, died Saturday in Lubbock.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home with the Rev. James Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Westbrook Cemetery.
Mrs. Dean was born in Inadale and worked at Truck Town and the Villa Restaurant before retiring. She was a member of the Jesus Name United Pentecostal Church. She married Alvis Dean in 1952 in Colorado City; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeri Aikin of San Angelo and Charlene Morris of Colorado City; one sister, Nadine Lowry of Coolidge; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary Luera Barrera
COLORADO CITY - Mary Luera Barrera, 67, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Mass will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barrera was born in Welder and was a lifelong resident of Colorado City. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. She married Louis Barrera Jr. in 1976 in Colorado City.
Survivors include her husband, of Colorado City; three sisters, Cruz Lozano and Louisa Davila, both of Colorado City, and Frances Miller of Odessa; one brother, Santiago Luera of Colorado City; and several nieces and nephews.

Ada Ensminger Heflin
SWEETWATER - Ada Ensminger Heflin, 94, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Rosary will be said at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Orvel Brantley and Mike Ensminger officiating. Burial will be in Nolan Cemetery.
Mrs. Heflin was born in Nolan County and grew up in Nolan. She lived in California for 25 years before returning to Nolan County. She is a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church. She married George Heflin in 1981 in Dora; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Les Heflin of Oakhurst, Calif.; one brother, Oscar Ensminger of Sweetwater; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Arlin Farmer
COLEMAN - Arlin Farmer, 52, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Farmer was born in Austin, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He attended the University of Texas and was in the Army Reserves for six years. He lived in Houston for 20 years and was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone. He lived in Abilene before moving to Coleman six years ago. He was a paving contractor and co-owner of Absolute Asphalt Company. He was a member of Community Baptist Church. He married Maria Castillo in 1993 in Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, of Coleman; two sons, John Farmer and David Farmer, both of Austin; his parents, Bill and Eva Smith of Austin; his twin brother, Marlin Farmer of Coleman; one sister, Deborah Barton of Round Rock; one grandson and numerous other relatives.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. today.

Sterling Prescott
ANSON - Sterling Prescott, 80, died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home with the Rev. C.J. Green officiating. Burial will be in Central Cemetery.
Mr. Prescott was born in San Saba and moved to Jones County in 1958. He was a farmer and a member of the Assembly of God. He married Corene New Prescott in 1942 in San Saba; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Yvonne Senff of Lampasas; Mary Bailey of Noodle, Gayla Rivera of Dallas and Cindy Selman of Hamlin; one son, Weldon Prescott of Graham; two brothers, Bill Prescott of San Saba and Wayne Prescott of Fort Worth; one sister, Odett Weaver of Clifton; 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Rev. James 'Pokey' Woods
HAMLIN - The Rev. James "Pokey" Woods, 73, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Central Baptist Church in Aspermont with the Revs. T.C. Melton, Bill Crump, Laurence Ballou and Gary Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Neinda Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Rev. Woods was born in Neinda and graduated from Hamlin High School in 1941. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and worked for Mead's Bakery in Abilene before entering the Baptist ministry in 1957. He pastored Palava Baptist Church from 1959-1961 and Central Baptist Church in Aspermont from 1961-1987. He was interim pastor for Northside Baptist Church in Anson from 1991-1994. He had lived in Hamlin since 1990 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He married Clara Jo Lawlis in 1948 in Hamlin.
Survivors include his wife, of Hamlin; three daughters, Belinda Sue Page, Mary Lou Tabor and Rhonda Rue McDowell, all of Aspermont; one brother, Herman Wood of Hamlin; and seven grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the mission program of Calvary Baptist Church of Hamlin, Northside Baptist Church in Anson or Central Baptist Church in Aspermont.
The body will be at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.

Virginia 'Polly' Moore Hunt
STEPHENVILLE - Virginia L. "Polly" Moore Hunt, 57, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Blagg officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Stag Creek Cemetery in Comanche County.
Mrs. Hunt was born in Comanche County and moved to Stephenville 11 years ago from Houston. She graduated from Baylor School of Nursing and was a registered nurse. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution in Baytown and of Greens Creek Baptist Church. She married Arthur "Skip" Hunt in 1969 in Houston.
Survivors include her husband; one stepdaughter, Cassandra Hunt Lopez of Houston; one stepson, Jason Hunt of Houston; her mother, Zora Moore of Comanche; one sister, Jessie Carroll of Comanche; two nephews, five great-nieces and -nephews and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Greens Creek Baptist Church library.

Cathreen Bond
EASTLAND - Cathreen Bond, 69, died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Daugherty Street Church of Christ with Larry Roberts and the Rev. Nathan Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Merriman Cemetery, directed by Bakker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bond was born in Breckenridge, grew up in the Lone Cedar community and attended school in Olden. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 40 years, working in Eastland, Sweetwater and Midland. She retired in 1984 and returned to Eastland. She was a member of Daugherty Street Church of Christ and Telephone Pioneers. She married Travis Bond in 1950 in Olden.
Survivors include her husband, of Lake Leon; one son, Joe Bond of Ranger; two daughters, Lisa Bond of Lake Leon and Sheila Webb of Ranger; one brother, Oliver "Buddy" Canet of Eastland; one sister, Louise Carter of Eastland; and three grandchildren.
