Dean Bennett
GORMAN - Dean Bennett, 82, died Saturday.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Clack officiating, assisted by Craig Rhoton. Burial will be in Elm Cemetery.
Mr. Bennett was a lifelong resident of Gorman and a retired carpenter, painter and livestock raiser. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was the widower of Lela Dell Poynor Bennett.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Kimmell of Granbury; one brother, Robert Bennett of Fort Worth; and one grandson.

Violet Evelyn Garris Peterson
Violet Evelyn Garris Peterson, 70, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brook Hollow Christian Church with Dr. Steven Williams officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth, directed by North's Funeral Home, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road.
Mrs. Peterson was born in Collingswood, N.J., and grew up in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. She lived on military bases around the country, moving to Fort Worth in 1976 and to Abilene in 1991. She was a homemaker, a member of Brook Hollow Christian Church and active in numerous senior citizens groups. She married William James Peterson in 1957 in Orlando, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; four brothers and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. D.M. Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Simmons, all of Fort Worth, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marcum of Boyd and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Pratt of Aurora; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today and at 3500 Cedar Run, No. 1302.

Jane Thomas
Jane Thomas, 94, died Sunday at a Euless nursing center.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. H.B. Terry Jr. officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Stockdale and moved to Brownwood as a teen-ager. She attended Howard Payne University and lived in Brownwood until 1950, when she moved to Abilene. She moved to Bedford in 1991 and to Euless in 1996. She was a 40-year member of First Baptist Church and was a longtime volunteer and sign painter for the church and for Rose Park Senior Center. She married Roy Thomas in 1924; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Glenda (Mrs. Bob) Clines of Bedford and Janet (Mrs. Bill) Davis of Lake Sam Rayburn; one brother, Jack Drury of San Antonio; two sisters, Velma Kosharek of San Antonio and Bennie Elder of Spicewood; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis, Abilene 79603; First Baptist Church, 1333 N. 3rd, Abilene 79601; or Rose Park Center, 2601 S. 7th, Abilene 79605.
The family will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday.

Dephane Williamson
Dephane Williamson, 55, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. Billy Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
Mrs. Williamson was born and attended school in Menard. She had been employed by JCPenney for 16 years. She married Gerald Williamson in 1979 in Abilene.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; her father, Nealy Wilkinson of Menard; one son, Todd Harmon of Trent; one daughter, Kellie Whartenbach of Harlingen; one stepdaughter, Wendi Williamson of Bristol, Tenn.; two brothers, Don Wilkinson of Menard and Duane Wilkinson of Uvalde; and two grandchildren.

Velma Steele Cruse
Velma Steele Cruse, 79, died Monday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Cruse was born in Ardmore, Okla., and attended school in Clovis, N.M. She worked for Elliott-Hamil, West Texas Medical Center and Rita Barber, retiring from Rita after 11 years. She was a member of Fairmont United Methodist Church and Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2012. She married Marion Dan Cruse in 1967; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one sister, Emma M. Edwards of Abilene, and several nieces and nephews.

Bobbie Jean Lawson
PORT LAVACA - Bobbie Jean Lawson, 67, of Olivia died Saturday.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Stansell officiating. Private graveside services will follow.
Mrs. Lawson was born in Wichita Falls and was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Point Comfort. She married C.O. "Bull" Lawson in Olivia in 1948.
Survivors include her mother, Ruby Mae (Moore) Brown of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Kathy Lawson of Plano and Karen Sarcione of Wichita Falls; and one son, Scott Lawson of Abilene.

Tommie Lowrance Silvey
JACKSONVILLE, Texas - Tommie Lowrance Silvey, 68, died Sunday at a Tyler hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ross Lowrance and Willie Silvey officiating. Burial will be in Meador Cemetery.
Mrs. Silvey was born in Wilbarger County and was a Nazarene and a state school supervisor.
Survivors include three sons, Ross Curtis Lowrance Sr. and John Silvey, both of Jacksonville, and Willie Howard Silvey of Abilene; two daughters, Sandra Ann Cosner and Ellen Faye Silvey, both of Abilene; two brothers, Bill Joe Morgan of Canadian and Billy Baker of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Betty Stracner of Boomfield, Ark., and Pat Pinner of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

RULE - Dustree Muhle, 84, died Saturday at a Willis care home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.
She was the widower of Fred Korte Muhle.
Survivors include five daughters, Ruby Violet Burk of Willis, Ira Lee Morris of Natchez, Mo., Iona Georgia Vaden of Wichita Falls, Bernice Willingham of Abilene and Janice Jones of Hamlin; two sons, Fred Muhle of Abilene and Joe Muhle Sr. of Odessa; 21 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Robert 'Pete' Morris
MORAN - Robert "Pete" Morris, 64, of Burleson died Sunday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Moran Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Clack officiating, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Mr. Morris was born in Gorman and was employed by General Motors for 39 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Wanah Wells in 1986 in Weatherford.
Survivors include his wife, of Burleson; two sons, Bill Morris of Fort Worth and Rob Morris of Azle; one daughter, Carla Calhoun of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Betty Head of Abilene; and four grandchildren.
