Gary Leroy Walker
ROSCOE -- Gary Leroy Walker, 60, of Bonham and formerly of Roscoe, died Thursday in Bonham.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Roscoe Cemetery with Dr. Rick Willis officiating, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mr. Walker was born in Roscoe, where he graduated from high school, and worked at U.S. Gypsum for two years. He was a member of Bonham Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Faye Cole of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Maye Adkins and Daline Scott, both of Midland; and several nieces and nephews.

Leona Alma Spivey
BRONTE -- Leona Alma Spivey, 83, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Fairview Cemetery, directed by Shaffer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Spivey was born in Maverick and was a homemaker. She lived in Cottonwood for many years until returning to Bronte in 1976. She was a Methodist and was the widow of Slim Spivey, whom she married in 1936 in San Angelo.
Survivors include one son, Larry Spivey of Blackwell; five brothers, R.W. Bowman of San Angelo, Virgil Bowman and Ben Bowman, both of Ballinger, Melvin Bowman of Hearne and W.C. Bowman; two sisters, Alta Lawdermilk of Ballinger and Dorene Edborg of San Angelo; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Virginia Allen Pickrell
RANGER -- Virginia Allen Pickrell died Friday in a Fort Worth hospital.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Ranger First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jack Hopkins and Carter Croft officiating. A second service will be at 2 p.m. in St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Breckenridge with the Rev. Carter Croft officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pickrell was born in Corpus Christi and graduated from Corpus Christi High School and Swanthmore College in Philadelphia. She married David Pickrell II in 1978 in Ranger and was a rancher. She was a homemaker. She was working on a master's degree at Southern Methodist University at the time of her death and was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Breckenridge.
Survivors include her husband, of Ranger; one stepson, David Pickrell III of Sweetwater; one stepdaughter, Annette Barfield of Anson; one sister, Betty Lee Gailey of Jollia, Calif.; three step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Ranger and Breckenridge Volunteer Fire departments and the organ fund at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Breckenridge.

Nellie Townsend
COLEMAN -- Nellie Townsend, 86, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Coleman Cemetery Pavilion with Dr. Charles Sheffield officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Townsend was born in Byers and grew up and attended school in Levelland. She moved to Coleman 33 years ago from Brownwood. She was a Baptist and a former cook and waitress at Tradewinds Restaurant.
Survivors include one daughter, Louise Riotto of California; one sister, Ida Johnson of Long Beach, Calif.; two nephews, one niece, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

George Griggs
BROWNWOOD -- George W. Griggs, 94, of Zephyr died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating. Burial will be in Zephyr Cemetery.
Mr. Griggs was born in Brown County, where he lived most of his life. He was a ranch foreman and stock farmer and raised and trained horses. He lived in Big Lake from 1948-1971, where he was foreman of the Pfluger Ranch. He married Ruby Viola White in 1922 in Brown County; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Keeler of Zephyr and Anita DeHay of Brownwood; one son, Bill Griggs of Stringtown, Okla.; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.

Glynn Wooldridge
BANGS -- Glynn B. Wooldridge, 78, a former City Council member, died Friday at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial will be in Bangs Cemetery, directed by Bangs Funeral Home.
Mr. Wooldridge was born in Cross Cut and was former owner-operator of a service station in Bangs. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, Sunday school teacher and treasurer. He was a member of Lions Club and a former board member of Bangs State Bank. He was a founder of local senior citizens organizations. He married Mildred Jones in 1947 in Bangs.
Survivors include his wife of Bangs; two daughters, Lin Graves of Bangs and T. Kaye Irvine of England; one son, Dan Wooldridge of Georgetown; two sisters, Veda Sligan of Sweetwater and Della Downey of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-8 p.m. today.

Thomas Ralph Purcell
LADY LAKE, Fla. - Thomas Ralph Purcell, 67, formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday in a Gainesville, Fla., hospital.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Beyers Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Purcell was born in Lafayette, Ga., where he graduated from Lafayette High School in 1948. He entered the U.S. Air Force at age 17 and married Violet Reed in 1951 in San Antonio. He moved to Abilene in 1966. He retired from the Air Force as a senior master sergeant in 1970 at Dyess Air Force Base. He then worked as an appraiser, first for the city of Abilene and then for the Central Appraisal District after the city and Taylor County tax offices were combined. He moved to Lady Lake in 1983 and was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Lady Lake; one son, Allen Purcell of Abilene; one daughter, Nina Purcell of Orlando, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy Abney of Lafayette, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Disabled American Veterans.

Lynn Atchison
CROWLEY - Lynn Atchison, 49, member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church in Abilene, died Tuesday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Laurel Land Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Mr. Atchison was born in Fort Worth and married his wife in 1972. He worked as a computer technology director for the Crowley school system.
Survivors include his wife, Sharron Atchison of Crowley; one son, John Atchison of Crowley; one daughter, Jennifer Atchison of Crowley; one brother, David Atchison of Orlando, Fla.; and one aunt.
Memorials may be sent to American Lung Association.

Leta Treadwell Harper
ANSON - Leta Treadwell Harper, 76, Anson school teacher for 30 years until retiring in 1986, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Anson First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Welch officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harper was born in Plainview in Jones County and graduated from Anson High School in 1939 and Hardin-Simmons University. She taught school for 40 years and her career included Plainview in Jones County, Sylvester, Hale Center, Abilene and Anson. She was a founder of the Anson Museum and Library. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, Tuesday Study Club, Anson Garden Club and First Baptist Church and was the widow of Bland Harper, whom she married in 1946 in Anson.
Survivors include one son, Harvey Harper of Cleburne; and two grandchildren.

Margaret Rinehart
GLADEWATER - Margaret Rinehart, 79, formerly of Oplin, died Wednesday in a Longview hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with the Rev. Oscar Fanning officiating, directed by Stone-Goodwin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rinehart was born in Oplin and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Harold C. Rinehart.
Survivors include one sister, Betty Frazier of Strawn; and many nieces and nephews.
