Clarence Allen Mobley
Clarence Allen Mobley, 45, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hawley Cemetery with Randy Estes officiating, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mr. Mobley was born in Aspermont and lived most of his life in Abilene. He worked in the oil field and was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Mindy Mobley and Michelle Mobley, both of Abilene; one stepson, Christopher Pieczynski; his mother, Doris Raborn of Abilene; four sisters, Mary Ann LaPorta, Glenda Sanchez, Lila Woodall and Ila Cozby, all of Abilene; three brothers, Dennis Mobley, Taylor Mobley and Elwyn Raborn, all of Abilene; and one grandchild.

Waldean Sadie Roberts
Waldean Sadie Roberts, 81, of Crowley and formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in Fort Worth.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Rickie Rister officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Roberts was born in Eastland County and attended school in Ranger. She then moved to Abilene to attend Draughon's Business College. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Odessa and was the widow of Glenn Roberts, whom she married in 1935 in Abilene.
Survivors include one son, Ron Roberts of Canyon Lake; one daughter, Glenda Newcomb of Crowley; two sisters, Bobbye Williamson of Potosi and Ruth Shipley of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Dean Smith
MERKEL - Clifton Verdean Smith, 66, died Thursday in Abilene.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Merkel Church of Christ with Mark Whitmire and Larry Gill officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born in Wellington and attended school in Merkel. He married Jo Ann Seymore in 1952 in Merkel. He worked for Humble Oil & Refining for 17 years and was a sales manager for Westmoreland Lincoln-Mercury for 12 years. He was self-employed with his two sons at Smith Pipe and also was a used car dealer. He was a member of the National Guard and Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Merkel; two sons, Cliff Smith and Randy Smith, both of Abilene; one daughter, Sheila Vice of Dallas; two brothers, Leroy Smith of Lake Livingston and Raymond Smith of Abilene; two sisters, Estelle McClesky of Winlock, Wash., and Mildred Snodgrass of Lindale; and four grandchildren.

Lucille Spikes
COLEMAN - Lucille Spikes, 79, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Ford officiating. Burial will be in Counts Cemetery.
Mrs. Spikes was born in Cleburne and attended school in Dublin. She was a homemaker and recently moved to Coleman from Novice. She was the widow of W.R. Spikes, whom she married in 1946 in Mineral Wells.
Survivors include three sons, Buddy Spikes, Kenneth Neal and Billy Neal, all of Santa Anna; two daughters, Lynda Jennings of Wingate and Della Kay Minter of Abilene; five brothers, Johnny Tucker of Lewisville, Robert Tucker of Mineral Wells, Elbert Tucker of Carrollton, Howard Tucker of Fort Worth and Ordie Tucker of Stephenville; one sister, Ethel May "Sidder" Tucker of Garland; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Jack Newell
COLLEYVILLE - Jack K. Newell, 76, father of a Clyde resident, died Tuesday in Grapevine.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in J.E. Foust and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Grapevine.
Mr. Newell was born in Boston and was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a fighter pilot with the Air Transport Command in the African, European and Pacific theaters of operation during World War II. He worked as an aircraft quality engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Dorcus McMahan Newell; two sons, Robert Newell of Hamilton, Mont., and Thomas Newell of Grapevine; one daughter, Patsy Walton of Clyde; one brother, Robert Newell of Bethesda, Md.; two sisters, Anne Bell of Randolph, Mass., and Alice Levine of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Lindon Ross Grace
BROWNWOOD - Lindon Ross Grace, 69, died Thursday at his home after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Bangs Cemetery with the Rev. Roy McNeely officiating, directed by Bangs Funeral Home.
Mr. Grace was born in De Leon and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He moved to Brownwood in 1969 and worked as a packer at 3M. He married Jane Thacker in 1982 in Brownwood and was a Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; two sons, Melvin Grace of California and Delbert Grace of Eastland; one daughter, Sherry Lynn Grace of San Saba; three stepsons, Danny Davis of Virginia Beach, Va., James Davis of Fort Worth and Raymond Davis of Andrews; two stepdaughters, Sharon Davis of Andrews and Cathy Grace of The Colony; two brothers, Lelan Grace of Corpus Christi and John Grace of De Leon; two sisters, Sue Boland and Beth Calvert, both of Breckenridge; and 16 grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

J.D. Steffey
COLEMAN - J.D. Steffey, 82, charter member of Central Baptist Church, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Central Baptist Church with the Revs. David Jenkins and Jeff Robinett officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery, directed by Walker Funeral Home.
Mr. Steffey was born in Coleman and was a lifelong Coleman County resident. He served with the 1307th Construction Engineers during World War II, and owned and operated Steffey Garage and Used Cars. He was the widower of Maxine Williams Bassett Steffey and married Undean Durham in 1965 in Coleman.
Survivors include his wife, of Coleman; three daughters, Linda Stahl of Nacogdoches, Judy Huddleston of Coleman and Alta Haynes of Wichita Falls; three sons, Nathan Durham and Archie Durham, both of Coleman, and Ronald Bassett of Granbury; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Jesse Luke Pippen
CISCO - Jesse Luke Pippen, 100, died Wednesday in a Brownwood nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cisco First Baptist Church with the Revs. Bruce Stovall and David Pippen officiating. Burial will be in Dothan Cemetery, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Mr. Pippen was born in Temple and married Winfred Surles in 1920 in Dothan in Eastland County. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War I and was a farmer and rancher. He also drove a bus for the Cisco school system. He was a former member of American Legion Post 123 and was a member of Cisco Masonic Lodge for 59 years, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10782. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church for 60 years.
Survivors include his wife, of Cisco; one son, David Pippen of Las Cruces, N.M.; five daughters, Gloria Turner and Kitty Pippen, both of Cisco, Glenna Reeves of Houston, Betty Williams of Fort Worth and Carolee Pyburn of Comanche; four sisters, Jewell Flinn and Tilda Hamm, both of Bellflower, Calif., Stella Lisenbee of Lubbock and Gwenn Jones of White Deer; 42 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Laurie Watson
COLEMAN - Laurie Watson, 69, died Friday in a local hospital.
The body will be cremated. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Glen Cove Cemetery with the Rev. Lawrence Cyr officiating. Arrangements were made by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Watson was born in Harrisburg, Pa., and grew up in Pennsylvania. She married Henry Watson in 1961 and moved to Virginia from Coleman. She returned to Coleman in 1993 and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Coleman; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
