Geneva Jones
COLEMAN - Geneva (Mrs. George) Jones, 45, teacher's aide in the Coleman school system for several years, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in New Testament Holiness Church in Bangs with the Revs. Ronnie White and Alvin Williams officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery, directed by Henderson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones was born in Greenwood, Miss., and graduated from West Memphis High School in West Memphis, Ark. She married George Jones in 1971 in Clarksdale, Ark., and moved to Coleman in 1973. She was a member of New Testament Holiness Church in Bangs.
Survivors include her husband, of Coleman; four daughters, Melissa Henderson, Melinda Billingly and Calandra Jones, all of Arlington, and Sonji Jones of West Memphis, Ark.; two sons, Torrey Jones of Arlington and Crandall Jones of Fort Stewart, Ga.; her mother, Eva Davis of Coleman; four sisters, Lennie Grice of Ita Bena, Miss., Marie Roberson and Ruby Robinson, both of Coleman, and Vera Robinson of West Memphis, Ark.; two brothers, Leroy Robinson and Percy Robinson, both of Coleman; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Dean Smith
MERKEL - Clifton Verdean Smith, 66, died Thursday in Abilene.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Merkel Church of Christ with Mark Whitmire and Larry Gill officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born in Wellington and attended school in Merkel. He married Jo Ann Seymore in 1952 in Merkel. He worked for Humble Oil & Refining for 17 years and was a sales manager for Westmoreland Lincoln-Mercury for 12 years. He was self-employed with his two sons at Smith Pipe and also was a used car dealer. He was a member of the National Guard and Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Merkel; two sons, Cliff Smith and Randy Smith, both of Abilene; one daughter, Sheila Vice of Dallas; two brothers, Leroy Smith of Lake Livingston and Raymond Smith of Abilene; two sisters, Estelle McClesky of Winlock, Wash., and Mildred Snodgrass of Lindale; and four grandchildren.

Corrie Lou Darby
BAIRD - Corrie Lou Darby, 84, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Parker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Carstensen officiating. Burial will be in Ross Cemetery Annex.
Mrs. Darby was born in Rowden and married Robert L. Darby. She lived in Venezuela, and then El Paso, where she owned a one-hour martinizing business before retiring. She moved to Baird in 1982 and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Soroptimist Club in El Paso, Creole Annuitant Association, Abilene Oil Wives Club and First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Ruth Gibbs of San Diego; and many nieces and nephews.

Frances Densman
COLEMAN - Frances Densman, 78, lifelong Coleman County resident, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Joel Densman and Maynard Brown officiating. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery.
Mrs. Densman was born near Brown Ranch in Coleman County and attended school in Santa Anna. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church in Santa Anna and was the widow of Ellis Densman, whom she married in 1935 in Santa Anna.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Densman of Abilene and Denny Densman of Brady; one daughter, Brenda Sandridge of Coleman; one brother, Maynard Brown of Spur; three sisters, Merah Brooke of Coleman, May Belle Perkins of Abilene and Johnnie Ruth Walker of Spur; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Lois Fay Mitchell
BLANKET - Lois Fay Mitchell, 71, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with the Rev. Bill Swindler officiating. Burial will be in Indian Gap Cemetery in Hamilton County.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Hamilton and was a longtime Blanket resident. She worked as a cook for the Senior Citizens Center in Brownwood, and also in the Brownwood school system for many years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Salt Creek Baptist Church and was the widow of E.P. Mitchell Jr., whom she married in 1946 in Bluff Dale.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Mitchell of Early and Lynn Mitchell of Blanket; one daughter, Connie Ake of Sidney; two brothers, Wayne Roe of Odessa and her twin, Horace Roe of Mineral Wells; two sisters, Lola Peters of Hamilton and Jinny Parker of Rowlett; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Leroy Harold Duke
COLORADO CITY - Leroy Harold Duke, 82, died Wednesday in a Big Spring hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Kerry Cain officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with Kenneth Hardegree officiating.
Mr. Duke was born in Callahan County and served with the 112th Calvary during World War II. He married Ruth Edgerton in 1946 in Colorado City and worked in the dry cleaning business in Colorado City and Sweetwater for 34 years before retiring. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; two sisters, Opal Jordan of Lubbock and Nina Click of Kerrville; and one brother, L.C. Duke of Midland.

Myrtle Gouyton Cummings
EASTLAND - Myrtle Gouyton Cummings, 95, formerly of Fort Worth, died Friday in Eastland.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cummings was born in Iredell and moved to Fort Worth in 1921. She worked for Swift Packing Co. for 40 years before retiring in 1962. She was a member of Fort Worth First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, and was the widow of J.A. Cummings, whom she married in 1956 in Fort Worth.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Mady Atkins of Strawn; one niece, Lavon Forester of Fort Worth; three step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one great-nephew and two great-nieces; two great-great-nephews and one great-great-niece; and one great-great-great-niece.
The body may be viewed from 1-2:30 p.m. today at Mount Olivet Funeral Home in Fort Worth.

Welma Powell
COLEMAN - Welma Powell, 81, lifelong Coleman County resident, died Wednesday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Coleman City Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Hammonds officiating, directed by Walker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Powell was born near Santa Anna in Coleman County and graduated from Santa Anna High School. She attended the Sealy Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a nurse for 28 years. She was a member of Coleman Chapter 360, Order of the Eastern Star; and First Baptist Church, and was the widow of Everett Ray Powell, whom she married in 1935 in Ballinger.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Well of San Antonio; two sons, Dr. Mike Powell of Alpine and Bill Powell of Casper, Wyo.; two sisters, Maxine Williams of Denton and Sarah Riggs of Denver; one brother, Willard Carl "Buzz" Williams of Texas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Chapter 360, Order of the Eastern Star, Coleman 76834.
Visitation will be at the family home.

Margaret Catherine Davis Henslee
LINGLEVILLE - Margaret Catherine Davis Henslee, 84, died Friday in a Stephenville hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Travis Summerlin and the Rev. Kirk Parsons officiating. Burial will be in Desdemona Cemetery.
Mrs. Henslee was born in Corinth, Miss., and lived most of her life in Erath and Eastland counties. She married Aaron Henslee Sr. in 1930 in Waurika, Okla., and was a homemaker. She was a 50-year member and past worthy matron of the Gorman chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and also was a member of Oak Dale Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Lingleville; one son, Aaron Henslee Jr. of Weatherford; one daughter, Sandra Loving of Lingleville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
