Irvin Smith
DECATUR - Irvin W. Smith, 79, formerly of Hamlin, died Saturday in Decatur.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Decatur First Baptist Church with Jerry Miller, Jack Gatewood and S.L. Tate officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Hamlin Cemetery, directed by Coker Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born in Hamlin and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Erma Smith in 1982 at Lake Lavon and was a retired pumper of Sun Oil Co. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Hamlin and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Decatur; one daughter, Benita Dennis of Paradise, Texas; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Williams of Raymond, Wash., and Christy Wallace of Plano; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Selma Thane Buerger
STAMFORD - Selma Thane Buerger, 92, lifelong Stamford-area resident, died Sunday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with the Rev. Kent Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Buerger was born in New Hope and moved to Stamford in 1955 from Ericksdahl. She was active in the Bethel Lutheran Women's Organization and Haskell County Homemaking Club. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was the widow of Friedrich Wilhelm Buerger, whom she married in 1925 in Sagerton.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Buerger of Haskell and Walter Buerger of Stamford; one daughter, Bonnie Lefevre of Stamford; two sisters, Dora Bergstrom and Elsie Schaake, both of Haskell; 14 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Bethel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.

William 'Rhody' Silvia
BROWNWOOD - William "Rhody" Silvia, 69, died Sunday at his home after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Eastlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Mark Bryant officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Silvia was born in Bristol, R.I., and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Glenda Novene Lane in 1958 in Odessa. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and moved to Brownwood in 1989 from Odessa. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; two sons, Michael Silvia and Billy Silvia, both of Odessa; two daughters, Lisa Silvia and Karon Silvia, both of Brownwood; two brothers, John Silvia and Joseph Silvia, both of Bristol, R.I.; and 10 grandchildren.

Mildred Irene Draper Fitzgerald
MUNDAY - Mildred Irene Draper Fitzgerald, 84, of Post and formerly of Munday, died Saturday in a Post nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson Memorial Cemetery with Paul D. Jones officiating, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was born in Hollister, Okla., and moved to Fort Stockton in 1950 from Munday. She worked as a telephone operator and home health nurse in Fort Stockton. She later moved to Wichita Falls, where she was employed by General Hospital as a nurse in its nursery. She also worked in the newborn and preemy ward of Methodist Hospital in Lubbock before retiring in 1977. She moved to Post in 1995 from Seymour. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was the widow of Cecil W. Fitzgerald.
Survivors include two daughters, Wynelle Craft of Post and Sharlene Drennan of Dickens; one son, Billy Frank Fitzgerald of Amarillo; two sisters, Mary Fitzgerald of Knox City and Ozelle Kilgore of Benjamin; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Stetson Suede Bible
BROWNWOOD - Stetson Suede Bible, nine-day-old son of Raymond A. Bible Jr. and Rebecca L. Salazar, died Saturday in a local hospital after a sudden illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with the Rev. Ruben Packer officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Stetson was born March 13 in Brownwood.
Survivors include his parents, of Brownwood; his paternal grandparents, Raymond Alvin Bible Sr. and Joy Ann Bible of Brownwood; his maternal grandparents, Michael and Dela Vasquez of Brownwood; his great-grandfather, Raymond L. Bible of Bangs; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Genetta 'Joan' Elliott
CISCO - Genetta "Joan" Elliott, 55, former longtime staff writer of The Cisco Press, died Saturday in an Abilene hospital after a sudden illness.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Chambers-Wilcox Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Joe Philpott officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Elliott was born in Romney and graduated from Cisco High School. She married James Elliott in 1965. After working for the newspaper, she was an admissions clerk at Eastland Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, of Cisco; one daughter, Rebecca Elliott of San Marcos; and one sister, Helen Boles of Cisco.

Edgar Ray Myers
Edgar Ray Myers, 74, of Abilene and formerly of the Brady area, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Dixie Robertson officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Stacy Cemetery near Doole.
Mr. Myers was born in Gouldbusk and was a longtime resident of the Brady area, where he was a farmer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Virginia Hardin in 1952 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Tommy Myers of Brady and Grady Myers of Abilene; two daughters, Sharon Faircloth of Abilene and Kay Lawing of Nebo, N.C.; two sisters, Marie Allen of Doole and Lillian Hix of Brownfield; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis, Abilene 79603.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday.

H.E. Yoes
H.E. Yoes, 70, of Tuscola died Monday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Tuscola Cemetery in Tuscola with the Rev. H.B. Terry Jr. officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Yoes was born in Tuscola, where he lived all of his life. He was a self-employed mechanic and an Army veteran. He married Geraldine Maxwell in 1965 in Ballinger.
Survivors include his wife, of Tuscola; one daughter, Mary Rodriquez of Abilene; one brother, Hollis Yoes of Tuscola; one sister, Parylee Wallace of Graham; and two grandchildren.

Danny Dyer
Danny J. Dyer, 38, died Sunday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in City Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Patrick officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Dyer was born in Logan, W.Va., and grew up in Toledo, Ohio. He moved to Abilene in 1976 and had worked for Freeway Car Wash for 10 years.
Survivors include five brothers, Ed Dyer of Lewisville, David Dyer of Toledo, Paul Dyer of Henderson and Roger Dyer and Joe Baker, both of Abilene; and three sisters, Phylis Richardson of San Angelo, Elsie Dyer of Longview and Sharon Hasting of Kerrville.
The family will be at 1602 Cedar.
