Verla Mae Anderson
CLYDE - Verla Mae Anderson, 60, of Eula died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Eula Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Hailes and Riley Fugitt officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home. A second service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Buckhorn Baptist Church in Richland, Mo. Burial will be in Waynesville, Mo., Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Hooker, Mo., and moved to Clyde from Missouri in 1982. She was a cook for the Eula Independent School District since 1983 and was a member of Eula Baptist Church. She married Don Anderson in Waynesville in 1952.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dennie Anderson of Springfield, Mo., David Anderson of Branson, Mo., and Kevin Anderson of Lebanon, Mo.; one daughter, Lisa Martin of Lebanon, Mo.; her mother, Mabel DeLong of Waynesville; two brothers, Clifford Medley and Dale DeLong of Newburg, Mo.; two sisters, Anna Lou Gordon of Waynesville and Lois Woods of Newburg; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Beatrice Curry
HAMLIN - Beatrice Curry, 94, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Leo Scott, Eddie Jordan, Henry Smith and Jesse Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Curry was born in Brazos County and moved to Hamlin in 1926 from Bryan. She worked as a housekeeper and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She married Ben Curry in 1940 in Hamlin; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Hester Mae Johnson of Hamlin; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Walton 'Bo' Presley
Walton M. "Bo" Presley, 80, owner of Presley Jewelers from 1927-67, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal with the Revs. J. Scott Mayer and Rosemary P. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Presley was born in Mason and lived most of his life in Abilene. He graduated from Abilene High School and Abilene Christian College, now Abilene Christian University. He married Dixie Ruth Free in 1939 in Abilene and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Shriner Drum and Bugle Corps, Masonic Lodge, Abilene Kiwanis Club and Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; three daughters, Pam Massey of Austin, Cindy Straughan of Denver and Dixie Ann Wilson of Dallas; and seven grandchildren.

Mary Abbie Thurman Wood
Mary Abbie Thurman Wood, 79, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Hawley Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Joplin officiating, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mrs. Wood was born in Mount Vernon and moved to Abilene in 1929. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse at Shady Oaks Lodge until retiring in 1983. She was a Baptist and was the widow of C.L. Wood, whom she married in 1935 in Abilene.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Lewis of Abilene; one sister, Billie Ruth Sheek of Abilene; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Francisco Bentancourt
SLATON - Francisco T. Bentancourt, 68, father of an Abilene resident, died Monday in a local nursing home after a long illness.
Mass will be said at 2 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence Hemp officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery, directed by Englunds Funeral Service.
Mr. Bentancourt was born in Pearsall, where he married Ascension Lopez in 1950, and moved to Slaton in 1951. He worked as a self-employed truck driver for 22 years before retiring in 1985 and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Slaton; four sons, Jerry Bentancourt and Carlos Bentancourt, both of Slaton, Frank Bentancourt of Abilene and Tony Bentancourt of Dallas; three daughters, Teresa Flores of Slaton, and Victoria Rangel and Pat Garcia, both of Lubbock; one brother, Santiago Bentancourt of Lubbock; one sister, Nancy Gonzales of Lubbock; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Emma Edna Blacklock
BROWNWOOD - Emma Edna Blacklock, 85, lifelong local resident, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Holder officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Blacklock was born in Winchell and attended Hardin-Simmons University. She worked as a nurse. She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church and was the widow of Dewitt Blacklock, whom she married in 1935 in Abilene.
Survivors include one brother, Charles Moore of Abilene; one niece and one nephew; and one cousin.

Oliver 'Buddy' Canet
EASTLAND - Oliver "Buddy" Canet, 65, heavy equipment operator for Bob Carroll Construction since 1984, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Gunsight Baptist Church with the Rev. Rex Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Merriman Cemetery, directed by Bakker Funeral Home.
Mr. Canet was born in Lone Cedar in Eastland County and graduated from Olden High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force before attending Ranger Junior College, and married Norma Watson in 1983 in Gorman. He was a member of Gunsight Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Eastland; one daughter, Kimberly Goodson of Sherman; one stepdaughter, Deanna Funston of Palo Pinto; two stepsons, Lane Lowrance of Beaumont and Lowell Lowrance of Caldwell, N.J.; one sister, Louise Carter of Eastland; and five grandchildren.

Frances Ashlock
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Frances E. Ashlock, a Baird native, died March 16 in Tallahassee.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Baird First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Ross Cemetery in Baird. Local arrangements were made by Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ashlock graduated from Baird High School in 1929 and attended the College of Industrial Arts, now Texas Women's University, in Denton. She moved to Pecos in 1950 and worked as an office manager for Pecos Valley Southern Railroad. She was active in the Business and Professional Women's Club in Pecos. She lived in El Paso and Ruidoso, N.M., for many years before moving to Tallahassee in 1992. She was a member of Baird First Methodist Church and the widow of Ralph "Jack" Ashlock.
Survivors include one son, James R. Ashlock of Tallahassee; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis, Abilene 79603; or a favorite charity.

Cora Shelton Page
GUSTINE - Cora Shelton Page, 81, died Sunday in a Dublin nursing home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Gustine First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Trickham Cemetery, directed by Hall & Sons Funeral Home of Comanche.
Mrs. Page was born in Elkhart and moved to Gustine in 1948 from San Angelo. She was a member of Dublin Chapter 910, Order of the Eastern Star; and Gustine First Baptist Church. She was the widow of George Bowden Page, whom she married in 1932 in San Angelo.
Survivors include three daughters, Willene Garlitz of Eldorado, Nancy Allen of Houston and Patsy Beaty of Robinson; one son, George A. Page of Brigham City, Utah; two sisters, Alice Nunn of Odessa and Julia Schreiber of San Angelo; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two nieces and one nephew.
Memorials may be sent to Gustine First Baptist Church or Trickham Cemetery Association.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
