M.D. 'Rob' Robertson
SAND SPRINGS - M.D. "Rob" Robertson, 71, died Monday in a Big Spring hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Big Spring with the Revs. Eldon Cook and Jim Fields officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Colorado City Cemetery.
Mr. Robertson married Johnnie Laster in 1944 in Colorado City and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Howard County in 1965 and worked for Cosden Refinery before retiring in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, of Big Spring; one son, Kim Robertson of Snyder; one daughter, Brenda Robertson of Sand Springs; one brother, Vernice Robertson of Louise, Texas; two sisters, Betty Lou Schroeder of Fairfield, Calif., and Lillie Bell Orsak of Sand Springs; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Calvin 'Cal' Sewell
HAMLIN - Calvin J. "Cal" Sewell, 79, died Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Foster-Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Brigham officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery.
Mr. Sewell was born in Wennewood, Okla., and graduated from high school in Dundee, Okla. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and spent 13 months as a prisoner of war in Stalag 17B. He lived in Big Spring and Colorado City before moving to Hamlin in 1953, and worked as a welder for Shell Pipeline for 30 years. He was the widower of Wanda Sims Sewell, whom he married in 1939 in Duncan, Okla. He married Bertie Ruth Perryman in 1962 in Hamlin and was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, of Hamlin; one son, Tommy Lee Sewell of Abilene; one stepdaughter, Sue Willis of Abilene; six sisters, Clyde Harbin of Fort Worth, Nita Fisher of Lubbock, Vonnie Andrews of Midland, Joyce Wisthoff of Crown Point, Ind., Billie Sue Baker of Garland and Becca Tindall of Germantown, Md.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mary Lavern Mercer
BRECKENRIDGE - Mary Lavern Mercer, 75, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Morehart Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Harper officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery.
Miss Mercer was born in Breckenridge and graduated from Woodson High School. She lived in Woodson for 30 years before returning to Breckenridge. She worked at Woolworth's for 15 years and later at Nap Thomas Drug Store, and was a member of Martha Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Marshall Mercer of Breckenridge; two sisters, Florence Garner of Odessa and Lorene Mercer Latner of Breckenridge; nine nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels and left at the funeral home.

Leon Dickard
COLORADO CITY - Leon Dickard, 81, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Colorado City Cemetery with the Rev. Miller Robinson officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Dickard was born in Hallsville and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He married Doris Bowles in 1945 in Longview. He was a retired farmer and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; two sons, Hall Dickard and Dale Dickard, both of Colorado City; one sister, Claudia Clark of Bochita, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

Lloyd Dunson
STEPHENVILLE - Lloyd A. Dunson, 53, lifelong local resident, died Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Ralph Starling officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Dunson was born in Stephenville, where he married Gwendolyn K. Jones in 1964. He was a retired pawn broker and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Stephenville; two sons, David Lloyd Dunson of Tolar and Todd Andrew Dunson of Stephenville; one daughter, Julie Dee Price of Stephenville; one brother, Ernest Claude Dunson Jr. of Midland; one sister, Audra Marie Spees of Fort Worth; and five grandchildren.

Hazel McCormick Curfman
Hazel L. McCormick Curfman, 79, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Tuscola First United Methodist Church with the Rev. T.C. Melton officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mrs. Curfman was born in Okmulgee County, Okla., and graduated from Beggs High School in Beggs, Okla. She lived in New Mexico and was a member of the Woman's Army Air Corps during World War II. She moved to Abilene in 1948 and worked in civil service as a purchasing agent at Dyess Air Force Base for more than 22 years before retiring in 1979. She also lived in Prosser, Wash., and Yuma, Ariz., before returning to Abilene in 1987. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Ernest McCormick, whom she married in 1954 in Tuscola; and Ray Curfman, whom she married in 1981 in Prosser, Wash.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Virginia Gilbert of Abilene and Dorothy Matlock of Stephenville; one sister, Mandy Hopper of Abilene; one brother, Loren J. Brader of Orange Park, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Deana Scism
Deana Mae Scism, 61, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Hamby Cemetery.
Mrs. Scism was born in Taylor County. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Garnell "Lucky" Scism.
Survivors include one son, Tracy Daniels of Stamford; two stepsons, Tim Scism of Midland and John Scism of Comanche, Okla.; one stepdaughter, Lolita Scism of Sioux City, Iowa; three brothers, Ronnie Maxwell of Anson, C.R. "Butch" Maxwell of Abilene and R.D. Maxwell of Hamlin; three sisters, Wanda Moore of Big Lake, and Nina Henry and Virginia Burdell, both of Abilene; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Katie Flanagan
Katie E. Flanagan, 90, formerly of Corpus Christi, died Thursday at her daughter's home in Abilene.
Services are pending with Maxwell Dunne Funeral Home in Corpus Christi. Local arrangements were made by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Flanagan was born in La Grange and lived in Corpus Christi for more than 80 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Corpus Christi and was the widow of Ernest Flanagan, whom she married in 1937 in Corpus Christi.
Survivors include four sons, Michael Flanagan, Danny Flanagan and Neal Flanagan, all of Corpus Christi, and Pat Flanagan of Kingsville; two daughters, Ernestine Hanna of Abilene and Yvonne Sample of Corpus Christi; three sisters and one brother; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Amparo Flores Loza
Amparo Flores Loza, 73, lifelong Abilene resident, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Dave Takacs officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Loza was born in Abilene and was a homemaker. She was a member of Graham Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include five sons, Robert Loza of Fort Worth, Rudy Loza of Auburn, Ga., and Frank Loza Jr., Ricky Loza and Raymond Loza, all of Abilene; four daughters, Ester "Tana" Gonzalez of Fort Worth, and Becky Juarez, Jesusa "Lee" Hernandez and Yolanda Loza-Perez, all of Abilene; two brothers, Gus Flores of Abilene and Armando Flores of California; two sisters, Hope Pallarez and Consuelo Gomez, both of Abilene; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
