Donnea Lea Nelson Caffey
Donnea Lea Nelson Caffey, 69, of Abilene, died Thursday at a local hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Rickie Rister officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Caffey was born in Abilene and lived here all of her life. She was a 1947 graduate of Abilene High and married H.D. Caffey Sr. in 1950. She worked for Timex for 13 years and Texas Instruments for five years.
Survivors include her husband, H.D. Caffey Sr.; a son, H.D. Caffey Jr. of Abilene; a daughter, Diane Mornic of Alta Loma, Calif.; two step-daughters, Ann Young of Haskell and Linda Folsom of Abilene; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Lone Star

George Bryant
The Rev. Lone Star George Bryant, 47, of Tye, an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church, died Thursday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Tye Cemetery with Chris Tullos officiating. Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, is handling arrangements.
Mr. Bryant was born in Fort Worth and graduated from Poly High School. He had lived in Abilene since 1988 where he was also a railroad engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Martie Bryant, and two sons, Brandon Bryant and Bronson Serasio, both of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Annie Cross Hopkins
BRECKENRIDGE - Annie Cross Hopkins, 81, died Saturday at Stephens Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Melton Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Jim Cox officiating.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos directed by Melton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hopkins was born in Reeves County. Five years after the death of her first husband, Charles Cross, she married Daru Hopkins. He died in 1981.
She was a sales clerk in a hardware store and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara McAnally of Breckenridge, and Nicky Owens of Missouri City, Texas; three sisters, Dorothy Wright, Pauline Srader and Norma Sherley, all of Dumas; two brothers Fred Vaught of Weatherford and William Vaught of Dumas; a step-daughter, Betty Howe of Keller; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Harold Hays McMurray
MERKEL - Harold Hays McMurray, 67, died Wednesday in Phillips Ranch, Calif.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Murray McMurray officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. McMurray was born in Floydada. He was a member of the Church of Christ, where he served at various times as deacon and financial officer. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He was vice president of Tastee Freeze of the Oregon territory for 20 years; was West Coast purchasing director for Wendy's for five years and was district sales manager for Sygma Network food service for eight years. Harold graduated from Abilene High School in 1946.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Phillips Ranch; a daughter, Sheryl Seaholm of Tillamook, Ore.; two sons, Rev. Murray McMurray of Thackerville, Okla. and Tad McMurray of Mountlake, Ore.; a brother, J.O. McMurray of Abilene; a sister, Melba Wohlford of Dallas; and nine grandchildren.

Carl Joseph Myers
HASKELL - Carl Joseph Myers, 81, a retired paint contractor, died Saturday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Assembly of God Church, under the direction of Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mr. Myers, a Lampasas County native, married Lillian Greenwood in 1936. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a life member of Stamford VFW Post 9179, serving as post commander for two years. He also belonged to the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Myers; two sons, Carl Wayne Myers and Danny J. Myers, both of Haskell; one daughter, Ilene Mansker of Lubbock; one brother, Alton Myers of Lampasas; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Roger Grimes
COLORADO CITY - Roger F. Grimes, 72, a lifelong resident of Colorado City, died Friday at his home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Colorado City Cemetery.
The Rev. Robert Bracy will officiate. Kiker-Seale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mr. Grimes was born in Colorado City and married Ola Wallace in 1945. He retired after 16 years with Producers Co-op Gin. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Ola of Colorado City; four daughters, Sue Kitchens and Linda Dossey, both of Odessa, and Jodie Mitchell and Charlotte Grimers, both of Colorado City; three sons, Roger Allen Grimms of Waco, Troy Don Grimes of Colorado City, and James Stacey Grimes of Odessa; three sisters, Winnie Carrol and Lillie Stephens, both of Slaton, and Annie Lou Compton of Cross Plains; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to the Heart of West Texas Hospice or favorite charity.

Dorothy Ewing
COLEMAN - Dorothy Ewing, 73, of Coleman, a retired Talpa school employee, died Saturday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Coleman City Cemetery. The Rev. James Ford of Santa Anna will officiate. Walker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Ewing was a native of Hamilton County. She lived in Coleman most of her life.
Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Harper of Ranger, Jean Waldrip of Trinity, Sue Ewing of Coleman, and Debra Phares of Rotan; one son, Jerry Campbell of Coleman; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Association.

Jack Collins
EASTLAND - Erwin H. "Jack" Collins, 85, died Friday at a Dallas hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Eastland Cemetery.
The Rev. Paul Royal of Park Cities Baptist Church will officiate. Bakker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mr. Collins was born in Dennis. He served in the U.S. Army and married Edith Pittman in 1938 in Los Angeles. He was a building contractor in California, Abilene, Clyde and in Eastland County before retiring in 1972. He was a member of Richland Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edith; a son, Jack Collins of Mankato, Minn.; two daughters, Gay Collins of Dallas and Tina Meyers of San Juan Bautista, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Johnie Faye Russell
BALLINGER - Johnie Faye Russell, 75, of Ballinger, died Friday in a San Angelo hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Dale Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
A native of Ballinger, she was the widow of Taylor Russell. Mrs. Russell was a retired bank bookkeeper. She was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Trisha Kennedy of Lufkin, Linda Frossard of Corsicana, and Brenda Rea of Amarillo; two sisters, Lois Simmons and Maurine Fowler, both of Ballinger; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
