Mattie Lou Cole
ROCHESTER - Mattie Lou Cole, 95, died Saturday at a Haskell nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Dolan Grinson and James Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cole was born in Tennessee and had lived in Rochester for more than 65 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Dewt Cole.
Survivors include one son, Donald Lovelady of Tyler; one daughter, Kathryn Matysiak of Rule; two brothers, Buford Richardson of Socorro, N.M., and Ronald Richardson of Seguin; one sister, Bessie Rich of Albuquerque, N.M.; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.

Mary 'Katy' Elder Bailey
Mary K. "Katy" Elder Bailey, 80, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Resthaven Cemetery in Midland.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School and Daniel Baker College. She taught school in Peoria, Ill., and Baird, and was a lieutenant with the U.S. Navy WAVES. She moved to Abilene in 1977 from Midland. She was a member of Key City Women's Golf League and First Central Presbyterian Church, and was the widow of Ralph Kurz, whom she married in 1944 in Miami; and Homer Cecil Bailey, whom she married in 1977 in Midland.
Survivors include two stepsons, Roger Bailey of Short Hills, N.J., and Michael Bailey of Richardson; one sister, Martha Lou Elder of Midland; and one step grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to Presbyterian Medical Care Mission, 302 Medical Drive, Abilene 79602; or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Ardie Roberts
NOVICE - Ardie B. Roberts, 89, died Tuesday in an Abilene nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Coleman Cemetery with the Rev. Reed Justus officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home of Coleman.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Benoit in Runnels County and attended school in the Novice area. She was a longtime Novice resident. She worked as a switchboard operator in Novice for several years and as a cook at Holiday Hill Nursing Home in Coleman before being the assistant postmistress in Novice for several years. She served on the board of trustees at First United Methodist Church and was the widow of Orlon Roberts, whom she married in 1925 in Coleman.
Survivors include two sons, Ewel Roberts of Farmington, N.M., and W.A. "Bill" Roberts of Abilene; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Eddie Butman
MERKEL - Raymond Edward Butman, 68, died Monday in Abilene.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brad Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Butman was born in Long Beach, Calif., and lived in the Merkel area most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for Sojourner Drilling Co. He was a member of Pioneer Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Dennis Ford Butman, James Ford Butman Jr. and Robert Wayne Butman, all of Merkel; one sister, Pat Neff of Merkel; and several nieces and nephews.

Johnnie Wilson 'Cap' Smith
GORDON - Johnnie Wilson "Cap" Smith, 80, died Sunday in a Mineral Wells hospital.
Services were held Tuesday in Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home Chapel in Mineral Wells with the Rev. Robert Caywood officiating. Burial was in Brad Cemetery in Palo Pinto County.
Mr. Smith was born in Brad and lived in Gordon most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and worked as a mechanic. He married Wanda Pugh in 1986 in Comanche and was a member of American Legion Post 544. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, of Gordon; one adopted son, Vincent Shubert of Gordon; one son, Joe Dale Smith of Fort Worth; four stepchildren, Donald Shubert of Mineola, Sammy Shubert of Mingus, Christine Jimenez of Strawn and Sarina Martin of Menard; two sisters, Mary Lou Fairclow of Fort Worth and Patsy Elkins Walton of Ranger; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Tuler Mae Bryan
MERKEL - Tuler Mae Bryan, 87, died Monday in Abilene.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Scott officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Bryan was born in Oneonta, Ala., and worked for Lankford Manufacturing for 12 years. She also was a farmer and rancher, and a homemaker. She was a Baptist and was the widow of James Floyd Bryan, whom she married in 1925 in Oneonta, Ala.
Survivors include one brother-in-law, R.V. Bryan of Merkel; one sister-in-law, Sofia Bryan of Merkel; and several nieces and nephews.

Walter Woodrow 'Daddy Bo' Wilson
COLEMAN - Walter Woodrow "Daddy Bo" Wilson, 79, lifelong Coleman County resident, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Merritt officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was born in Burkett, where he attended school, and married Willie G. Gaines in 1937 in Cross Plains. He was a longtime dairy farmer and rancher. He was a charter member of the Dairy Association of Coleman County and also was a member of Farm Bureau and Burkett Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Santa Anna; two daughters, Rita Day of Santa Anna and Ann Wilson Ray of Bangs; one son, Bo Wilson of Rockwood; one sister, Thelma Ivie of Santa Anna; one brother, Bill Wilson of May; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Grosvenor Baptist Church, West Texas Rehabilitation Center or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Johnnie Lee Stubblefield Turner
HENNESSEY, Okla. - Johnnie Lee Stubblefield Turner, 94, formerly of the Big Country, died Monday at her daughter's home in Hennessey.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Hennessey First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Rogers officiating. A second service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Bronte Methodist Church with Galen Broadstreet and Elmer Beck officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte, directed by Cordry-Sisson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Turner was born in Norton and graduated from Ballinger High School. She attended Trinity University in Waxahachie and was a homemaker. She was a member of Norton Methodist Church and was the widow of Marvin M. Turner, whom she married in 1922 in Rockwall.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Lee Brock of Norton, Marva Jean Underwood of Winters and Clara Lee Pitchford of Hennessey; two sons, Mannie Jake Turner of Hennessey and Billy Mitchell Turner of Dover, Okla.; two sisters, Wilma Newsom of Tulia and Annie Cope of Bronte; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

California 'Fornia' Jane Beal
BROWNWOOD - California J. Beal, 95, of Tomball, mother of a Brownwood resident, died Monday in Tomball.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greenleaf Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Beal was born in Jasper and was a retired self-employed businesswoman. She was a member of a Baptist church in Houston and was the widow of Ted Beal.
Survivors include one daughter, May Harper of Brownwood; one son, Travis Shores of Tomball; one sister, Lillian Brooks of Colonial Heights, Va.; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
