Marshall Bailey
Marshall W. Bailey, 77, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Brookhollow Christian Church with Dr. Steven Williams officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Heritage Cemetery in Rising Star, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Bailey was born in Eldorado and graduated from Washington State and Texas Tech universities. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked for Atlantic Oil and Refining Co. and Tennessee Gas Co. in Midland in the 1950s, and married Barbara Conkling Harding in 1952 in Midland. He moved to Abilene in 1958 and was an independent consulting geologist. He helped pioneer the Midland Permian Basin, and was a member of American Association of Petroleum Geologists, American Institute of Professional Geologists, Abilene Geological Society, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Brookhollow Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; three sons, Allen Marshall Bailey of Anchorage, Alaska, William Craig Bailey of Artesia, N.M., and Richard L. Harding of Graham; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to Brookhollow Christian Church Memorial Fund, 2310 S. Willis, Abilene 79605; or a favorite charity.

Thomas Henry Ueckert
Thomas Henry Ueckert, 89, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dundee Cemetery with the Rev. Carl Kent officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road.
Mr. Ueckert grew up in Benjamin and worked in the oilfield business for more than 50 years in Holliday, Petrolia and Iowa Park before retiring in 1973. He moved to Abilene in 1980 from Holliday, and was a Mason and a Baptist. He was the widower of Hazel Jean Whisenant Ueckert, whom he married in 1934 in Holliday; and Ida Mathis Ueckert, whom he married in 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Lofland and Martha McDaniel, both of Abilene; one sister, Mazie Smithwick of Arlington; his caregiver, Sherry Billiot of Abilene; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Zachary Dale Johnson
Zachary Dale Johnson was stillborn Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Buffalo Gap Cemetery with the Rev. T.C. Melton officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Survivors include his parents, Carrol and Tammy Johnson of Abilene; his paternal grandparents, Butch and Tina Johnson of Tuscola, and Becky Green of Lubbock; his maternal grandmother, Wanda Hill of Tacoma, Wash.; his paternal great-grandparents, A.L. and Joyce Johnson of Gatesville, and Ann Tyson of Sweetwater; his paternal great-great-grandmothers, Fannie Riddle of Sweetwater and Jettie Gillit of Anson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jon Wesley Bowman
Jon Wesley Bowman, 17, died Wednesday from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Burtis Williams officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Jon was born in Abilene, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a member of Elmcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Tom and Mecca Darby of Abilene; one brother, Robert Bowman of Abilene; his grandparents, Clara Darby and Jim Merriman, both of Abilene, and Robert and Charlene Price of Oklahoma; one great-grandfather; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Chandra Lee Wilkerson-Wolfe
Chandra Lee Wilkerson-Wolfe, 38, formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in a Lake Charles, La. hospital after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Earnest Kight officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Wolfe was born in Abilene and graduated from Cooper High School in 1978. She moved to Louisiana in 1988 and worked as a horse trainer and racer until becoming ill. She married Ronnie Wolfe in 1995 in Louisiana.
Survivors include her husband, of Ragley, La.; two daughters, April Anderson and Jennifer Anderson, both of Ragley, La.; her mother, Ida Wilkerson of San Angelo; one brother, Bill Wilkerson of Snyder; one sister, Cheri Marderosian of Abilene; and two nieces and two nephews.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society, 209 S. Danville, Abilene 79605.

Nora Mae Brooks
BRADSHAW - Nora Mae Brooks, 72, of Belton and formerly of Bradshaw, died Wednesday in a Belton nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Southside Baptist Church in Winters with the Rev. Ed Bigham officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brooks was born in Bradshaw, where she graduated from high school, and was a homemaker. She lived in Temple and San Augustine for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was the widow of Carlos E. Brooks, whom she married in 1946 in Abilene.
Survivors include one son, Carlos Brooks of Belton; one daughter, Sandra Bryson of Houston; two sisters, Ada Reid of Winters and Vada Bigham of Bradshaw; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Dale Shugart
MERKEL - Dale Bernice Shugart, 63, lifelong local resident, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Merkel First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Reeves officiating. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery, southwest of Merkel, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. Shugart was born in Merkel, where he attended school, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict. He married Cora Neuenschwander in 1968 in Weatherford and worked as a timekeeper dispatcher for Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co.
Survivors include his wife, of Merkel; one stepdaughter, Johnnie Cloon of Fletcher, Okla.; one sister, Melba Doan of Merkel; three step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael Patrick Diaz
BROWNWOOD - Michael Patrick Diaz, 9, of Charlotte, N.C., and formerly of Brownwood, died Tuesday in Charlotte after being struck by an automobile while riding his bicycle.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Salvador Trevino Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Blanket Cemetery.
Michael was born in Brownwood.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Denise and Balta Arcovendaz of Charlotte, N.C.; his father, Francisco Valdez of Missouri; his maternal grandmother and step grandfather, Nora and Sonny Hall of Santa Anna; his maternal grandfather, Joe Diaz of California; his great-grandparents, J.F. Varela of Brownwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Diaz of Blanket; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Margaret Oyler
COLORADO CITY - Margaret C. Oyler, 86, lifelong local resident, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in 22nd and Austin Street Church of Christ with Gary Dennis and Kerry Cain officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Oyler was born in Sweetwater and worked for TU Electric for 15 years before retiring in 1974. She was a member of 22nd and Austin Street Church of Christ and was the widow of W.F. "Bill" Oyler, whom she married in 1937 in Hugo, Okla.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Ann Conaway of Westbrook; one son, Wilford Oyler of Colorado City; two sisters, Virginia "Sis" Pollard and Dorothy Pond, both of Amarillo; one brother, Jim McCorcle of Juneau, Alaska; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

William 'Bill' Kirksey
BANGS - William L. "Bill" Kirksey, 80, died Wednesday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood. Burial will be in Jenkins Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Kirksey was born in Brown County and married Helen Christine Wyatt in 1941 in Comanche. He was a retired employee of Gifford Hill Pipe Co. in Fort Worth and moved to Brown County in 1977 from Arlington. He was a 50-year member of the Holliday Masonic Lodge and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Bangs; one brother, James C. Kirksey of Lubbock; two sisters, Nona Kennedy of Lake Brownwood and Fern Kennedy of Waco; and many nieces and nephews.
