Ruth Lewis
GRAHAM - Ruth Lewis, 87, formerly of Colorado City, died Wednesday in Graham.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Colorado City Cemetery with Frank Swindle officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home of Colorado City. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church in Colorado City.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Pittsburg, Kan., and married Clyde Fortune. She was a homemaker. She moved to Colorado City in 1946 and Graham in 1995. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Colorado City and was the widow of Max Lewis.
Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Kinson of Alvarado and Betty Baker of Des Moines, Iowa; one son, Phil Fortune of Graham; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Retired Lt. Col. Stephen Harrison
WACO - Retired Lt. Col. Stephen E. Harrison, 70, formerly of the Big Country, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Wilkirson-Hatch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Massey officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Waco Memorial Park.
Mr. Harrison was born in Jones County and graduated from Munday High School, the University of Omaha in Nebraska and George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He married Lucille Covey in 1948. He served with the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and later was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He flew 158 combat missions in the Korean War and Vietnam, and also flew missions over Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was in the Air Force for 22 years and received a Legion of Merit Award, Distinguished Flying Cross, four Air medals and two Air Force Commendation medals. He was transferred to 12th Air Force Headquarters in Waco in 1964 and was a longtime Woodway resident. He also lived in Lorena. Upon retiring in 1970, he became an executive vice president with Conti Commodities in Chicago and Dallas, and later was a rancher in Bosque County. He opened the Bee Creek Fine Art Gallery in Lorena in 1994 and was a member of Founder Lions Club in Waco, Knox County Masonic Lodge and the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Woodway; one son, Steve Harrison of Woodway; two daughters, Sherrie Harrison of Houston and Patty Smith of Woodway; one brother, Ken Harrison of Houston; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center.

Elley Leona Reeder
BROWNWOOD - Elley Leona Reeder, 93, died Thursday in a local hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie Carroll and Paul McClung officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Reeder was born in Brown County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Early Church of Christ and was the widow of White Law Reeder.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Raymond Reeder of Talco and Leroy Reeder of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Bertha Foley of Archer City and Lila Gowin of Brownwood; one brother, Andrew Bullard; three sisters, Maudie Hillhouse of Brady, Oleta Painter of Brownwood and Opal Modawell of Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Mary Harriet Sayles
Mary Harriet Sayles, 78, died Friday in a local retirement center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Tuscola United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Latham and Bill Alexander officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Abilene, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Miss Sayles was born in Toyah and graduated from Tuscola High School in 1937. She worked in civil service at Camp Barkley and Tye Army Air Base in Tye from 1941-50 and then was employed by Great Lakes Carbon Co. in Abilene for seven years and Jake Miller Independent Oil Operator for five years. She was an accountant for Condley and Co. from 1962-75, and was an office manager and accountant for Frank J. King Oil Operator for 10 years until retiring in 1985. She was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one brother, Robert "Bobby" Sayles of Tuscola; and six nieces and nephews.

Xantha Teeters
Xantha Teeters, 86, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd, with Woodrow Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Abilene Municipal Cemetery.
Mrs. Teeters was born in Brownwood and was a homemaker. She moved to Abilene in 1953. She was a member of Oakland Church of Christ and was the widow of Felix Andrew Teeters, whom she married in 1933 in Anson.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Louise Eilers of Lake Brownwood and Kathy Young of Abilene; two sons, Bert Wayne Teeters of Baird and Gerald Fred Teeters of Clyde; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Lawrence 'Larry' Sumner
Lawrence E. "Larry" Sumner, 64, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Drs. Phil Christopher and Mike Stedham officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Sumner was born in Eldorado and graduated from Blanket High School. He attended Texas A&M and Texas Tech universities, and served with the U.S. Navy in the Korean conflict. He moved to Abilene in 1955 and was a rancher. He was the widower of Mary Evertson Sumner, whom he married in 1961 in Pawhuska, Okla. He married Wanda Barry in 1986 in Abilene and worked as a draftsman for ABCO since 1989. He attended First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Lawrie Beardsley of Greensboro, N.C., and Leslie Iakovidis of Winterhaven, Fla.; one stepson, Brent Barry of Austin; one stepdaughter, Julie Barry of Nacogdoches; one brother, Willard Sumner of Houston; three sisters, Ruth Nix of Blanket, Alice Harris of Los Angeles and Gladys Macy of Chicago; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Clyde Shelton
Clyde J. Shelton, 74, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with B.W. Briggs and Connell Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Shelton was born in Mexia and moved to Abilene in 1924. He served with the U.S. Army's 36th Division, Battery E, 131st Field Artillery, 2nd Battalion, known as the "Lost Battalion" during World War II. He married Mary Frances Scott in 1946 in Anson and retired as a civil service employee at Dyess Air Force Base. He was a member of the Ex-POW Organization and North Park Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Clydene Shelton and Saundra Cortinez, both of Abilene; one brother, Marion T. Shelton of Luling; one sister, Mrs. W.T. Crawford of Iowa Park; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Frances Tittle
Frances Bertha Tittle, 80, formerly of Trent, died Saturday in Abilene.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Trent Cemetery with the Rev. Lanny Phillips officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Mrs. Tittle was born in Trent and was a homemaker. She was a member of Trent First Baptist Church and was the widow of Henry Lee Tittle, whom she married in 1935 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Phillips of Abilene; two brothers, H.H. Jones and Hollis Jones, both of Trent; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ted Allen Saunders
CLYDE - Ted Allen Saunders, 46, owner and operator of AAA Windshields for more than 20 years, died Friday on Highway 283 north of Baird.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Clyde Church of Christ with Chaplain Lyle Metzler officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Clyde Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mr. Saunders was born in Riverside, Calif., and, while on active duty with the U.S. Army, served in the Vietnam War. He moved to Clyde in 1968 from Abilene and married Ann Bales in 1971 in Clyde. He was a non-commissioned officer in the Abilene-based 490th Civil Affairs Battalion, U.S. Army Reserve, for 20 years. He had 27 years of active and reserve service.
Survivors include his wife, of Clyde; one son, R. Wayne Saunders of Clyde; his parents, Guy and Inez Saunders of Midland; two brothers, Micah Saunders of Godley and Robert Phillips of Austin; one sister, Gale Bailey of Hobbs, N.M.; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
