John 'J.W.' Harris
BUFFALO GAP - John "J.W." Harris, 30, died Wednesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mr. Harris was born in Abilene and moved to Buffalo Gap in 1974. He graduated from Jim Ned High School in 1984. He worked for several radio and television stations in Abilene and also was employed by the Abilene State School as a dormitory attendant. He was a member of the Dallas chapter of T.G.R.A.
Survivors include his parents, Helen Harris of Buffalo Gap and Alton Harris of Huntsville; one sister, Krista Harris of Buffalo Gap; his grandmothers, Loree Johnson of Abilene and Lillian McDonald of San Antonio; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Betty Jane Vance
MERKEL - Betty Jane Vance, 66, of Corpus Christi and formerly of the Big Country, died Thursday in San Antonio.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Vance was born in Big Spring and graduated from Odessa High School, now Odessa Permian High School, and Draughn's Business College in Abilene. She married Spencer R. Vance in 1949 in Hobbs, N.M., and was a homemaker. She formerly lived in Hobbs, N.M., and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Corpus Christi; two sons, Cary Roger Vance of Portland, Texas, and Michael Craig Vance of Palestine; one daughter, Dana L. Scott of San Antonio; one sister, Bonnie Ruth Baird of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Cancer Therapy & Research Center, 7979 Wurzback Road, San Antonio 78229.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Houston Wedeman
BROWNWOOD - Houston Wedeman, 83, died Wednesday in a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with John Shero officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Wedeman was born in Flomot and served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a captain during World War II. He moved to Brownwood in 1960 and worked for Swift & Co. for 26 years before retiring as a district manager. He was the widower of Emily Virginia Greathouse Wedeman, whom he married in 1940.
Survivors include two sons, Dan Wedeman and Bill Wedeman, both of San Antonio; one daughter, Carol Wedeman of Bangs; one brother, Duane Wedeman of Hawaii; one sister, Bertha Cotter of Amarillo; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Lillie Richie Daniels
SWEETWATER - Lillie Richie Daniels, 92, died Wednesday in a local retirement center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Orvel Brantley officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
Mrs. Daniels was born in Quitman and retired from the State Hospital of Kerrville. She moved to Sweetwater in 1968 and was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Rycroft of Sweetwater and Bettie Womack of Amarillo; one son, Deryl Richie of Dumas; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Aubrey Klein
BANGS - Aubrey L. Klein, 90, died Wednesday in a Bastrop nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bangs Cemetery with the Rev. W.C. Wade officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Mr. Klein was born in Waynoka, Okla., and retired from civil service. He lived in Big Spring and Phoenix, Ariz. before moving to Bangs.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Wade of Grand Prairie; one granddaughter, Renita Knight of Victoria; and two great-grandchildren.

Tommy Whitefield
ROTAN - Tommy Whitefield, 62, died Thursday in a Lubbock hospital.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in Weathersbee Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Revs. Ruben Osuna and Henry Cartwright officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery.
Mr. Whitefield was born in Stamford and served in the U.S. Army. He married Mary Henderson in 1956 in Rotan and was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, of Rotan; two sons, Mitch Whitefield and Tommy Whitefield Jr., both of Rotan; two daughters, Tammy Williams of Big Lake and Terry Whitefield of Rotan; one stepbrother, Dan Goodrum of Austin; and 11 grandchildren.

Terry Wayne Baird
Terry Wayne Baird, 51, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Crossroads Community Church, 221 Oak, with the Rev. Kevin York and T. Gerald Cates officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Baird was born in Merkel and moved to Abilene at age five. He graduated from Abilene High School and married Kaye Gwynn Hamil in 1966 in Abilene. He moved to Meadow, Texas in 1975 where he worked as a ranch manager for 12 years. He returned to Abilene in 1988. He was employed by Lockheed in Abilene as a supervisor and later worked for Franklin Manufacturing in Joshua. He was a member of Crossroads Community Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one daughter, Cristal Baird Mauldin of Abilene; his mother, Juanita Baird of Abilene; three brothers, L.C. Baird of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Michael Baird of Corpus Christi and Ronnie Baird of Clyde; three nieces and seven nephews; and two great-nieces and one great-nephew.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 41, Abilene 79604.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Russell Eugene Sanders
CLYDE - Russell Eugene Sanders, 64, died Wednesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Clyde Cemetery with Norris Lineweaver officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mr. Sanders was born in Commerce and served in the Korean War. He moved to Clyde in 1984 from Houston. He married Darlene Hoover in 1985 in Anson and owned and operated Abilene Spraying Service until retiring in 1995. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6873 and also was a member of American Legion Parramore Post 57. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Clyde; one son, Ronald E. Sanders of Whitney; one daughter, Linda Terrell of Tyler; one sister, Barbara Lane Gustine of Springfield, La.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two nephews.

Edna Large
KNOX CITY - Edna O. Large, 84, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 5 p.m. today in Knox City Church of Christ with David Boren and Kenny Pierson officiating. Burial will be in Knox City Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Large was born in East Texas and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was the widow of Pruitt O. Large, whom she married in 1931 in Haskell.
Survivors include one daughter, Leta Mangis of Knox City; one brother, Leland Dunnam of Aroya Grande, Calif.; two sisters, Thelma Pierson of Abilene and Virginia Price of Farmers Branch; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
