Thelma Leona Jones
EASTLAND - Thelma Leona Jones, 85, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thomas Goodman and Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born in Rice, Texas, and attended school in Eastland. She and her husband farmed in West Texas for several years before moving to Cisco in the early 1930s. She was a homemaker. She started working at the Boss Glove Factory in 1948 and in the late 1960s, was employed by Hollywood Vassarette. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church and was the widow of S.B. "Fritz" Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Robert N. Jones of Sunrise Beach and Sam L. Jones of Lake Leon; three daughters, Joy Beth Hansen and Betty N. Payne, both of Midland, and Kathie Platt of Austin; three brothers, Noel Layfield of Brownwood, Earl Layfield of Kingsland and Dennis Layfield of Lawton, Okla.; four sisters, Maudie L. Jones of Big Spring, Ruby Pemberton of Tulsa, Okla., Minnie Quattlebaum of England, Ark., and Mary Graham of Houston; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ivan Eugene Foltz
Ivan Eugene Foltz, 79, formerly of Abilene, died Friday in a Mansfield nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Foltz was born in Grafton, Neb., where he attended school, and served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He moved to Abilene in 1967 from Houston. He worked for Gulf Oil for four years and as a truck driver for Merchants Motor Lines for 28 years until retiring. He was a Methodist and was the widower of Frances Elliott Foltz, whom he married in 1942 in Abilene.
Survivors include one daughter, Vikki Hornbaker of Arlington; one brother, Floyd Foltz of Richmond, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Hospice, 1349 Empire Central, Dallas 75247.
The family will be at 5231 Durango.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Arthur 'A.D.' Derington
TUSCOLA - Arthur D. "A.D." Derington, 78, died Friday in Winters.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene with Jack English and Haven Miller officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home.
Mr. Derington was born in Crowell, where he attended school, and married Monnie Whetsel in 1937 in Merkel. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He lived in Merkel, Abilene and Chandler, Ariz. and returned to Abilene in 1950. He worked as a mechanic in Abilene before opening Derington Automotive Shop in 1956 and Abilene Axle and Spring in 1972. He moved to Bradshaw in 1976 and retired in 1992. He then moved to Tuscola. He was a member of Baker Heights Church of Christ of Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Tuscola; two sons, Larry K. Derington of Abilene and Robert P. Derington of San Antonio; two daughters, Wanda Brewer of Winters and Michelle Sherwood of Abilene; four sisters, Geneva Dennis and Ona Faye Holeton, both of Abilene, Frances Boil of Hamlin and Betty Mannering of Odessa; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene 79604; and Cherokee Home for Children, Cherokee 76832.
The body will be at the church beginning at 11 a.m. Monday.

Curtis Everett Hays
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Curtis Hays, 66, formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Memorial services were held Wednesday at Mountain View Church of Christ.
Mr. Hays was born in San Angelo and grew up at Hendrick Home for Children in Abilene. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1947 and attended Texas A&M University. He graduated from the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock. He served in the U.S. Army and worked at Waldrop's Furniture Co., Knight Carpet Co. and Sun Supply Corp., all in Abilene. He also was a Church of Christ minister and served churches in Baird, Mandeville, La., and La Place, La. He moved to Colorado Springs one year ago from Abilene and was the widower of Frona Lee Harris Hays, whom he married in 1950.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Hays of Colorado Springs; two sons, Curtis Hays II of Colorado Springs and Jeff Hays of Park City, Utah; one daughter, Dr. Jennifer Cousins of Houston; two stepsons, Charles Hanson of Houston and John Hanson of Abilene; one stepdaughter, Sandy Hunter of Fort Worth; three brothers, Bob Hays of Abilene, John David Hays of Carlsbad, N.M., and Ferrell Hays of Sugarland; one sister, Willie Mae Copeland of Dallas; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock or Hendrick Home for Children in Abilene.

Martha Dunn
SANTA ANNA - Martha (Mrs. Jim) Dunn, 97, died Friday in an Abilene nursing home.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Santa Anna First Baptist Church with Jay Swoveland and the Rev. Marty Reed officiating. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery, directed by Henderson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dunn was born in Athens, Texas, and was a homemaker. She moved to Santa Anna in 1928. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of James "Jim" Dunn, whom she married in 1916 in Coleman County.
Survivors include five daughters, Julia Howard of Post, Ruby Box of Dallas, Fay Hunter and JoAnn McClellan, both of Abilene, and Sonja Adams of Dallas; four sons, James Dunn of San Angelo, Robert "Bob" Dunn of Brownwood, J.D. Dunn of Denton and Dewey Dunn of Granbury; one sister, Opal Sumrall of Gainesville, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Santa Anna First Baptist Church Building Fund and Santa Anna Cemetery Association.

Learoy Duffie
HASKELL - Learoy Duffie, 77, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hopewell Baptist Church with the Revs. J.J. Lewis, Jessie Robinson, Clarence Walker and Camillia Wade officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Duffie was born in Bronte and served in World War II. He married Margaret Williams in 1977.
Survivors include his wife, of Haskell; one daughter, Karen Johnson of Haskell; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jack Henry Baker
MERKEL - Jack Henry Baker, 56, died Thursday in Dolen.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal in Abilene with the Revs. Rosemary P. Thomas and J. Scott Mayer officiating. Burial will be in Woodson Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. Baker was born in Menard and graduated from Albany High School. He attended Cisco Junior College and worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 23 years, having been an engineer for the last several years. He married Patti McBride in 1995 in Merkel and was a member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers 863.
Survivors include his wife, of Merkel; two sons, Jack Baker of Sicily, Italy, and William Baker of Alpine; one stepson, John Harvey of Breckenridge; one daughter, Michelle Kirk of Odessa; two sisters, Frances Baker of Brownwood and Jorene Chambers of Midland; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce Wilfong
ALBANY - Joyce Wilfong, 51, died Friday in a Breckenridge hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Albany First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Caywood officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mrs. Wilfong was born in Coleman, where she graduated from high school, and attended Tarleton State University. She married Bud Wilfong in 1966 in Coleman and lived in Palo Pinto. She moved to Albany in the 1970s and was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Albany; two daughters, Debbie Ripley of San Angelo and Susan Crawford of Bluff Dale; two brothers, Sherrill Farmer of Big Spring and Burl Farmer of Hobbs, N.M.; and four grandchildren.

Jessie Mize
ROTAN - Jessie Mize, 77, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Belvieu Cemetery with Loyd Dean Messick and the Rev. Bob Kennedy officiating, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mize was born in Garza County and married Clarence Mize in 1934 in Post. She was a homemaker and moved to Rotan in 1944.
Survivors include her husband, of Rotan; six children, Kendard Mize of Odessa, Francis Smith and Joe Messick, both of Rotan, Dixie Jones of Sweetwater, Steve Mize of Capitola and Elwood Mize of McCaulley; 38 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
