Kindell Stratton Bates
STAMFORD - Kindell Stratton Bates, 83, of Knox City and formerly of Stamford, died Thursday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Kinney Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Morton officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Bates was born in Thornton and lived in the Stamford area since early childhood. He moved to Knox City in 1963. He was retired from Exxon Oil Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a National Guard veteran. He was the widower of Lucile Shelton Bates.
Survivors include one daughter, Glenda Bates of Juneau, Alaska; one son, Wayne Bates of Plano; two sisters, Anne Blackwell of Juneau and Nedra Smith of Joplin, Mo.; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

Carrie Paul
BROWNWOOD - Carrie B. Paul, 82, of Fort Worth died Saturday at her home.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Paul was born in Callahan County and lived in Fort Worth most of her life. She was retired from Finley Cleaners in Fort Worth and was a Baptist. She married Byron Paul in 1933 in May; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Jo Vaughn of Cleburne and Melba Keith of Arlington; one sister, Jo Steubing of Brownwood; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one niece.

W.E. 'Dizzy' Dean
CISCO - W.E. "Dizzy" Dean, 90, died Sunday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Oakwood Cemetery with Larry Fitzgerald officiating, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Mr. Dean was born in Benbrook and was a manager and salesman for many years for a motor freight company in Cisco. He was a member of First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge and Shriners, a 32nd-degree Mason and a past member of Cisco Lions Club. He married Nona Lou Roberson in 1926 in Fort Worth.
Survivors include his wife, of Cisco; and one grandson.

W.M. 'Bill' White
HASKELL - W.M. "Bill" White, 69, died Sunday at a local care center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at East Side Baptist Church the Rev. David Page officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mr. White was born in Munday and was a lifetime resident of Haskell County. He was a driller for Ford Tools Co. and past master of Haskell Masonic Lodge. He married Charlote Elberta Caddell in 1947 in Haskell.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike White of Allen and Ricky White of Stamford; two sisters, Thelma Taylor of Post and Lula Almond of Arlington; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Birch Watson Sr.
Birch C. Watson Sr., 82, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. David Cason officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South.
Mr. Watson was born in Satuma, Ark., and moved to Abilene in 1966. He retired after 26 years in the U.S. Air Force, including service during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked in civil engineering and was a Civil Service employee at Dyess Air Force Base. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Frances F. Ciccone in 1948 in Merced, Calif.; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Birch C. Watson Jr. and Dennis Watson, both of Abilene; one daughter, Denise Hallford of Abilene; one sister, Ethel Pritchett of Weiser, Idaho; and seven grandchildren.

Colleen Etta Prew
Colleen Etta Prew, 59, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. James R. Zug officiating. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery.
Mrs. Prew was born in Shawnee, Okla., attended school in Flora, Ill., and moved to Abilene in 1950, where she completed her education. She owned and operated Abilene Electrolysis. She married Lennis Rowe in 1954; he preceded her in death. She married James G. Prew in 1970 in Abilene.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one son, J. Shannon Prew of Abilene; one daughter, Etta Rowe Root of Pembroke, Ky.; her mother, Dee Miller of Abilene; two sisters, Marge (Mrs. R.W.) Childress and Beverly (Mrs. Royce) Farnsworth of Abilene; two brothers, Vance Armstrong of Abilene and Mark Armstrong of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Canon Peacock
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. - Elizabeth Canon Peacock, 78, died Friday in a Murfreesboro, Tenn., hospital.
Burial will be today in Shelbyville.
Survivors include four daughters, Gloria Singleton, Gene Whitaker and Lucille Henderson, all of Shelbyville, and Estella Harvey of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three sons, Bobby Peacock of Shelbyville, Glenn Peacock of Winchester, Tenn., and Henry Peacock of Abilene; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Don Henry Drake
Don Henry Drake, 50, of Abilene died Sunday at his home.
Memorial services will be held at a later date, directed by Bailey Funeral Home of Clyde.
Mr. Drake was born in Lubbock and moved to Abilene from Dallas in 1987. He was an Air Force veteran and a Baptist.
Survivors include his parents, Charlie and Opal Booz of Clyde; one son, Chris Pepper of Rolling Fork, Miss.; one daughter, Heather Watts of Carrollton; and two sisters, Candy Thibodaux of Clyde and Nancy Bradfield of Amarillo.

Roy Clay 'Bull' Cupps Jr.
TUSCOLA - Roy Clay "Bull" Cupps Jr., 31, died Sunday in Abilene.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Gap Baptist Church with the Rev. Graham Gutting officiating. Burial will be in Belle Plain Cemetery south of Baird, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home.
Mr. Cupps was born in Baird and moved to Tuscola in 1976. He graduated from Jim Ned High School in 1983. He married Robbin Flint in 1984 in Buffalo Gap. He had worked for Abtex Beverage Company and Texas Steel and was employed by Abco Industries from 1990 until his death. He was a member of Buffalo Gap Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Tuscola; one daughter, Courtney Cupps of Tuscola; one son, Slade Cupps of Tuscola; his mother, Jane Mitchell of Abilene; a grandmother, Dorothy Bilbrey of Abilene; five sisters, Dorothy Dawkins and Amy Biggs, both of Tuscola, Michelle Collins and Betty Vaughn, both of Abilene, and Carla Ann Cupps of Boulder, Colo.; and many other relatives.
