James Gober III
STAMFORD - James Gober III, 69, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Springcreek Cemetery in Avoca with the Rev. Jessie Morton officiating, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.
Mr. Gober was born in Ledmon, Mo., and was a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons, Don Gober of Hobbs, N.M., James Gober of Slaton and Lesley Ray Gober of Dallas; one daughter, Kay Bosse of Stamford; two brothers, Tommy Gober of Donie and Harold Gober of Wilmington, Del.; two sisters, Earnestine Boggio of Austin and Wanda Stewart of Midland; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Eugenie Honeycutt
BROWNWOOD - Eugenie L. Honeycutt, 86, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ruben Packer and Donald Lee Robinson officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Mrs. Honeycutt was born in Temple and lived in Bell County for 84 years. She was a homemaker and moved to Brownwood in 1995. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was the widow of Ollie Honeycutt, whom she married in 1927.
Survivors include one son, Billy Honeycutt of Brownwood; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

George Calvin Maxwell
George Calvin Maxwell, 87, lifelong Abilene-area resident, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Hamby Cemetery.
Mr. Maxwell was born in Truby and married Iva Lee Holder in 1932 in Abilene. He was a self-employed roofer and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; three sons, Ronnie Maxwell of Anson, C.R. "Butch" Maxwell of Abilene and R.D. Maxwell of Hamlin; three daughters, Wanda Moore, Nina Henry and Virginia Burdell, all of Abilene; 36 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Herbert Turner
Herbert E. Turner, 93, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Doug Hollowell officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Turner was born in Sherman and married Oleta Ray in 1936 in San Antonio. He was a self-employed furniture wholesaler. He moved to Abilene in 1989 from San Diego and was a member of Sherman Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; and three sisters-in-law, including Onva Quarles of Abilene.

Belva Abbott Blevins
QUAIL, Texas - Belva Abbott Blevins, 68, mother of two Big Country residents, died Tuesday in Amarillo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Wellington First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry White officiating. Burial will be in Quail Cemetery, directed by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
Mrs. Blevins was born in Hale Center and graduated from Mobeetie High School. She married Marvin Blevins in 1974 in Amarillo and worked as a teacher's aide in Samnorwood and Lela for several years. She taught Sunday school for several years and attended Quail Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Quail; three sons, Bruce Barton of Baird, Brian Barton of Caldwell and Brad Barton of Abilene; three daughters, Beth Mancino of Valley Center, Calif., and Brenda Trafton and Becky Smith, both of Amarillo; one stepson, Johnny Ray Blevins of Amarillo; two sisters, Martha Futch and Carolyn Logan, both of Amarillo; one brother, John Abbott of Irving; and 19 grandchildren.

Ted Smithee
SNYDER - Ted P. Smithee, 70, died recently at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Moseley officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Smithee was born in Plainview and served with the U.S. Navy. He lived in California and New Mexico before moving to Snyder in 1957. He worked for Chevron for 20 years before retiring as a drilling supervisor. He later owned and operated Brooks Oilwell Service Co. in Snyder before retiring again and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Lee Bowie of Lubbock, Terry Jo Butler of Abilene and Debbie Hanks of Houston; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Albert Lee Johnson Jr.
FLAT, Texas - Albert Lee Johnson Jr., 71, formerly of the Big Country, died Tuesday in a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Cold Springs Baptist Church in Flat with the Revs. Bob Phillips and Jack Hopkins officiating. A second service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Anson with the Rev. T.C. Melton officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson, directed by Scott's Funeral Home of Gatesville.
Mr. Johnson was born in Hawley, where he attended school, and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Ruby Joyce Garrison in 1947 in Roby and owned and operated a trucking business for many years. He was a past master of Delta Lodge 77 in Medicine, Kan., and was a member of Shriner's Midian Temple in Wichita, Kan., and Cold Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Flat; four daughters, Paula Sue Crosby and Donna Ruth Trotter, both of Gatesville, Velma Jo Gann of Flat and Darla Faye Green of Big Spring; three sons, Jerry R. Johnson of Buffalo Gap, Albert Lee Johnson III of Tuscola and Charles W. Johnson of Abilene; one brother, John Johnson of Fort Dodge, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Aubrey Fine
BROWNWOOD - Aubrey L. Fine, 86, died Monday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Swindler officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Fine was born in Fayetteville, Ark., where he attended school, and served as a military policeman with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as an antique glassware dealer and was the widower of Marie Adams Fine, whom he married in 1946.
Survivors include one daughter, June McAllister of New York City.

Edna Ruth Criswell
ASPERMONT - Edna Ruth Criswell, 89, died Wednesday in a Jayton nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Aspermont First Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Double Mountain Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Criswell was born in Stonewall County. She married William Voss Criswell in 1925 and was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Gene Criswell of Post and Bobby Joe Criswell of Elk City, Okla.; two daughters, Helen Ruth Anderson of Bakersfield, Calif., and Diana Sue Jouett of Aspermont; one sister, Molly Guess of Jayton; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
