Betty Parker Hancock
Betty Parker Hancock, 59, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Woodlawn Church of Christ with Alfred Gadberry officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Hancock was born in Peacock and graduated from Roby High School in 1955. She moved to Roscoe in 1965 and Abilene in 1983. She married James Lee Hancock in 1983 in Roscoe and was a volunteer at the Christian Service Center. She was a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Keith Parker of Fort Worth and Kevin Parker of Stephenville; two stepsons, Sammy Lee Hancock of Dallas and Bobby Dale Hancock of Wichita, Kan.; two daughters, Kimberly Wright of Houston and Kathi Roberts of Dallas; one stepdaughter, Debbie McKlemurry of McEwen, Tenn.; her mother, Ora Morgan of Abilene; one brother, Sam Morgan Jr. of Marshfield, Mo.; one sister, Melba Justiss of Bonham; eight grandchildren; and seven step grandchildren.

Inez Moreland Conner
Inez Moreland Conner, 105, of Kerrville and formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in a Kerrville nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Conner was born in Rianzi and moved to Hawley in 1919. She worked in a family-owned mercantile business in Hawley for 43 years. She also was employed as the Jones County tax assessor-collector and was a cotton buyer. She moved to Abilene in 1962 and was a home caregiver until retiring in 1968. She moved to San Angelo in 1968, Elk City, Okla. in 1974, Kerrville in 1978 and Robert Lee in 1980. She returned to Kerrville in 1987 and was the widow of George Everett Conner, whom she married in 1910 in Canyon.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Saunders of Kerrville; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Rodney Ray Higgins
Rodney Ray Higgins, 41, of Dallas and formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday in a Dallas hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Roland Williams officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. Higgins was born in Abilene and graduated from Midland Lee High School and Angelo State University. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his mother, Cleta Beall of San Angelo; his father and stepmother, William D. "Bill" and Eudera Higgins of Abilene; one brother, Terry Higgins of Abilene; one sister, Karen Allen of Midland; his grandmother, Gertrude Wilson of Millersview; and one niece and one nephew.

Joseph Herbert
CLARE, Iowa - Joseph E. Herbert, 62, of Abilene and formerly of Clare, died Friday in a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 9:45 a.m. today in Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. in St. Matthew's Catholic Church with the Rev. Dale Reiff officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. James Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be said at 4 p.m. May 9 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Abilene.
Mr. Herbert was born in Montross, Va., and graduated from Cople High School in Hague, Va. He married Mary Ann Quade in 1963 in Minneapolis. He served with the U.S. Air Force in the Korean conflict and Vietnam, and was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base for 22 years until retiring. He then worked as a safety and security director for 12 years at Gooch Meat Packing in Abilene. He was a pharmaceutical distributor for Morris-Dickson in Abilene at the time of his death. He was a member of Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Ancient Order of the Hibernians and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Kevin Herbert of Greenville, S.C.; three sisters, Eleanor Stosch of Richmond, Va., Alice Green of Montross, Va., and Joyce Northern of Heathsville, Va.; and one brother, George Herbert Jr. of Montross, Va.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Jeanette Harris
ATHENS - Jeanette Harris, 87, formerly of Eastland, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Watson officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Royse City Cemetery, directed by Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harris was born in Royse City and owned and operated Jeanette's Fabric Shop in Eastland for many years. She moved to Mineral Wells in the 1970s and became active in the Cambodian relief program. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Park Highland Nursing Center in Athens. She was named Henderson County Senior Citizen of the Year in 1995. She was a Baptist and was the widow of L.D. "Bucky" Harris.
Survivors include one son, Jim Harris of Athens; three brothers, J. Lennie Reese of Houston, Harry Reese of Corpus Christi and F.W. Reese of Dallas; one sister, Rubye Adams of Royse City; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Leona Price Hendrix
ROTAN - Leona Price Hendrix, 71, of Cloudcroft, N.M., and formerly of Rotan, died Sunday in Alamogordo, N.M.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rotan First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Holder officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hendrix was born in Rotan, where she graduated from high school in 1943, and attended Draughon's Business College. She married Jerry Hendrix in 1945 in Kansas City, Kan., and worked in civil service. She lived in El Paso for 33-1/2 years before moving to Cloudcroft, N.M. in 1990. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies Oriental Shrine for 25 years, and Tobin Park First United Methodist Church in El Paso.
Survivors include her husband, of Cloudcroft, N.M.; two daughters, Elizabeth Mae House of San Antonio and Patricia Lee Paramore of Dallas; and six grandchildren.

Gary Don Seay
STAMFORD - Gary Don Seay, 54, of Albuquerque, N.M., and formerly of Stamford, died Saturday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in New Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Jesse Morton officiating, directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mr. Seay was born in Stamford, where he graduated from high school, and worked as an electrician and in construction for Southwest Public Service for many years in Alaska, Washington and New Mexico. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Kasey Seay of Smyer; one son, John Seay of Smyer; two brothers, Jimmy Seay of Mineral Wells and Ted Seay of Amarillo; and one sister, Sandi Olivares of Mineral Wells.

Billy Dale Copeland
Billy Dale Copeland, 73, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Rick Cunningham officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mr. Copeland was born in Nashville, Ark., where he graduated from high school, and married Beatrice Amanda Dyer in 1943 in Nashville. He served with the military in World War II. He worked for Capitol Transportation for 10 years in Little Rock, Ark., and retired after 28 years as a Greyhound bus driver. He was a member of the AFL-CIO and Midway Baptist Church in Howard County, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Vivian Sue Sheppard of Abilene and Dalene Bowles of Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Ruth Whitman Bowers
Ruth Whitman Bowers died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Phil Christopher officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bowers was born in Haskell and graduated from Simmons Academy in Abilene. She moved to Abilene in 1957 and supported the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra for many years. She was a member of Abilene Country Club and First Baptist Church, and was the widow of Dr. William H. Bowers.
Survivors include two nephews and one niece.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home, and after the service Saturday at the Abilene Country Club.
