George Edd Ashburn
MEADOW - George Edd Ashburn, 70, formerly of the Stamford area, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lubbock First Baptist Church with the Revs. Ken McClung and Cletus Caswell officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Cemetery, directed by Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Mr. Ashburn was born in Stamford, where he graduated from high school, and lived in Tuxedo for 16 years before moving to Meadow in 1943. He served with the U.S. Army in the Asian Pacific Theater during World War II and received a Victory Medal. He married Bobbie June Stephenson in 1951 in Lovington, N.M. He owned and operated Ashburn Irrigation Inc. since 1950, and also worked for Cotton Producers Gin for 35 years and Burleson Gin. He was a two-term mayor of Meadow, Meadow fire chief, and a Terry County deputy sheriff for nine years. He started the Meadow Musical and was inducted into the Buddy Holly Wall Terrace in April of this year. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Meadow; one son, Eddie Ashburn of Wolfforth; one daughter, Mary Beth Barnard of Lubbock; two brothers, J.B. Ashburn of Plains and Tommy Ashburn of Meadow; and two grandchildren.

Joe Parker
PROCTOR - Joe M. Parker, 87, died Friday in a Brownwood hospital.
Mass will be said at 2 p.m. Monday in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche. Burial will be in Comanche Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Parker was born in Navasota and married Zeeva Scott in 1932 in Munday. He served with the 19th Battalion of the Texas Defense Guard during World War II and worked as an automobile assembly supervisor for Ford Motor Co. in Dallas for 42 years until retiring. He then was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, of Proctor; one daughter, Jo Nell Woolsey of Comanche; one son, Bill A. Parker of Stephenville; one brother, Roy Dean Parker of Hawaii; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Vivian Maserang
Vivian Maserang, 75, died Friday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Philip Shuler officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Ms. Maserang grew up in Merkel and lived in El Paso for 20 years and in Eagle Pass from 1950-1981, when she moved to Abilene. She worked at Furr's Cafeteria until 1995 and was a member of Caps United Methodist Church. She married Cyrus Howard Maserang in 1935.
Survivors include one son, Weldon Maserang of San Juan; one sister, Vada Martin of Merkel; and three grandchildren.

Winnie Austin
Winnie C. Austin, 84, of Abilene died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Austin was born in Buell and attended school in Clyde. She moved to Abilene in 1967 and was a homemaker. She married James R. Austin in 1935 in Callahan County; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, James T. Austin of Abilene, Fred Austin of Yukon, Okla., and Archie Austin of Winters; one brother, Charlie Cain of Snyder; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

James Olin 'Jim' Allison
James Olin "Jim" Allison, 30, of Abilene died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Mr. Allison was born in Abilene and lived in Tulsa, Okla., from 1973-1980, returning to Abilene in 1981. He was a furniture salesman and attended Grace Tabernacle Church. He married Meledy Adams in 1984 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Jimmy Lee Allison and Timothy Olin Allison, both of Abilene; two daughters, Cindy Allison and Melinda Rossie Allison, both of Abilene; his parents, Olin Norris and Florene Allison of Abilene; one brother, Ray Allison of Abilene; four sisters, Darlene Mayfield of Tulsa, Rebecca Wylie of Brownfield, Shirley Glisson and Dixie Courtney, both of Abilene; and several other relatives.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. today.

Bobby Warren Couch
COMANCHE - Bobby Warren Couch, 67, of Gustine died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Gustine.
Mr. Couch was born in Gustine and returned there from Odessa 26 years ago. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Gustine United Methodist Church. He was a retired jeweler and managed Zales Jewelry Stores for 17 years in Farmington, N.M., Amarillo, Orange and Odessa. He married Billie Barnes in 1950 in Seguin.
Survivors include his wife, of Gustine; two daughters, Quatia Wright of Odessa and Debra Noel of Rogers, Ark.; one son, Curtis Couch of Odessa; two brothers, T.J. Couch and Ernest Couch, both of Gustine; one sister, Ione Denson of San Antonio; and four grandchildren.
Lunch for the family will be at noon today at Gustine United Methodist Church.

Virginia Bridwell
COLEMAN - Virginia Bridwell, 82, a lifelong Coleman resident, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.
Mrs. Bridwell was born in Coleman County and graduated from Coleman High School in 1933. She worked for many years at Hargett's Mens Wear and later at Shipman's. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Ernest Bridwell in 1932 in Frederick, Okla.; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Charles Bridwell of Mesquite; one brother, Donald Walker of Liberty; one granddaughter, four step grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Amy Stokes
FORT WORTH - Amy W. Stokes, 95, died Saturday in Fort Worth.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, directed by Greenwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stokes was born in Falls County and graduated from Baylor University. She was a teacher most of her adult life, and lived in Winters, Lubbock, Marlin, Abilene and Stamford. She moved to Marlin from Stamford in 1967 and to Fort Worth in 1985. She was a member of Wedgewood Baptist Church. She married Robert Lee Stokes in 1933 in Winters; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Arlyne Stokes Ragan of Odessa and Sue Barber of Fort Worth; four stepdaughters, Erna Marks of Weatherford, Nola Goodyear of Lake Jackson, Fannie Lou Carter of Amarillo and Lillian Eidson of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Wedgewood Baptist Church Building Fund.

James Wayne Scott
CROSS PLAINS - James Wayne Scott, 57, of Quinlan died Friday in Dallas.
Services will be at 11 am. today at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Pipes officiating. Burial will be in Sabanno Cemetery.
Mr. Scott was born in Cross Plains and was employed by Weir Brothers in road construction. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Scott of Quinlan; four sons, Ronnie Scott of Cross Plains, James Scott Jr. of Lewisville and Shane Robinson and Jason Scott, both of the Dallas area; two daughters, Cindy Fischelli and Becky Hallmark, both of the Dallas area; two sisters, Wilda Stevens of Mesquite and Neita King of Cisco; and 12 grandchildren.
