Clara Weaver Biard
HASKELL - Clara Weaver Biard, 85, who, with her husband, owned and operated Biard's Cleaners for 30 years, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Haskell First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Biard was born in Haskell County and graduated from Haskell High School. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Association. She attended the Fidelis Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and was the widow of Myron Biard, whom she married in 1929 in Munday.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
The family will be at 1300 N. Ave. F.

Maurine McCuin
CROSS PLAINS - Maurine P. McCuin, 87, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Coppinger officiating. Burial will be in Cross Plains Cemetery.
Mrs. McCuin was born in Runnels County and worked in insurance sales. She was a director of the Cross Plains Cemetery Association. She was a charter member of the Cross Plains Garden Club and also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Alvin "Ted" J. McCuin, whom she married in 1935 in Winters.
Survivors include one son, Jay Frank McCuin of Austin; one daughter, Cynthia Newton of Stephenville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ben Hines
Ben Hines, 62, died Thursday in a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Fort Phantom Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Hines was born in Sweetwater and lived in Abilene most of his life. He attended Southern Baptist Seminary and served with the U.S. Navy. He was a self-employed plumber. He married Darlene Butler in 1981 in Greenbrier, Ark., and was a Little League baseball umpire in Clyde. He was a member of Fort Phantom Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; two sons, Benjy Hines of Abilene and Mikey Hines of Arkansas; three daughters, Anita Jackson of Abilene, Tena Ross of Ranger and Michelle Lawrence of Arkansas; three brothers, Jesse Hines and Charlie Hines, both of Commerce, and Glenn O'Braint of Conroe; six sisters, Frances Hope of Abilene, Hazel Claxton of Eastland, Dorothy Shifflett of Sweetwater, Eloise Trater of Princeton, Louise Lund of Queen City and Velma Davidson of Annona; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Eugene Carlile
Eugene Carlile, 76, died Thursday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Potosi Cemetery with the Rev. T.C. Melton officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mr. Carlile was born in Rockdale and married Ruby Cora Adams in 1940 in Rocksprings. He moved to San Angelo in 1956 from Rocksprings, and to Winters in 1960 and Lawn in 1967. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Big Country Dozer Co. in Lawn and also for Vinson Ranches until retiring in 1984. He moved to Abilene in 1993 and was a member of Lawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; two daughters, Louise Gartman of Abilene and Shirley Gentry of Junction; one son, Edwin R. Carlile of Abilene; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at 550 Bynum in Abilene. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Christopher Lee Smart
CLYDE -- Christopher Lee Smart, 45, died July 23 near Clyde.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smart's Estate in Lampasas County, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mr. Smart was born in Salina, Kan., and graduated from Granada Hills High School in Granada Hills, Calif. He served with the U.S. Army and then worked for the Corps of Engineers. He moved to Clyde in 1995 from Granada Hills, Calif. He was employed by Western Industrial in Abilene at the time of his death and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joel Smart and Joshua Smart, both of Mississippi; three sisters, Pat Smith, Sue Collins and Sandy Hartshorn, all of California; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Lakin Pake Rosenquist
STAMFORD -- Lakin Pake Rosenquist, 1-month-old infant son of Devery and Shana Rosenquist of Stamford, died Tuesday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in East Side Baptist Church in Haskell with the Revs. David Page and Robert Wingrove officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery in Stamford, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors of Haskell.
Other survivors include one sister, McKenzie Rosenquist of Abilene; his paternal grandparents, Doug and Whynana Rosenquist of Abilene, and Jocille and Donald Ender of Stamford; his maternal grandparents, Doy and Rod Jeter of Haskell, and Gene and Vickie McKenzie of Clyde; his great-grandmothers, Marsha Whittemore of Rule, Louise McKenzie of Tulsa, Okla., Louise Massey of Stamford and Gene Culpepper of Haskell; his great-grandfather, Bud Rosenquist of Stamford; his great-great-grandmother, Effie Lawson of Stamford; and one aunt.

Verona Schmahl
CHILTON, Wis. -- Verona R. Schmahl, 82, mother of an Abilene resident, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Martin Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wayne Huebner officiating. Burial will be in Charlestown Union Cemetery, directed by Wieting Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schmahl was born in Rantoul, Wis., and, with her husband, owned and operated The Central Hotel in Chilton from 1947-74. She was secretary from 1982-98 of the Fox River Regional Carriage Club of America. She also was communicator for the Calumet County Branch of the Lutheran Brotherhood. She was a member of Calumet County Historical Society, Christian Women's Guild and St. Martin Lutheran Church, and was the widow of Peter Schmahl Jr., whom she married in 1935 in Chilton.
Survivors include three children, Patricia Bailey of Chilton, John Schmahl of New Holstein, Wis., and Diane Schmahl of Abilene; two sisters, Hazel Holbert of Milwaukee and Alma Schmahl of Fond du Lac, Wis.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

John Tulcus
BROWNWOOD -- John Tulcus, 34, lifelong local resident, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Tulcus was born in Brownwood and worked as a machinist.
Survivors include two sons, Jonathan Tulcus and Michael Tulcus, both of Brownwood; one daughter, Leslie Tulcus of Brownwood; his mother, Wanda J. Dodson of Brownwood; seven brothers, Pete Tulcus of Marble Falls, Michael Tulcus, Joseph Tulcus and Steve Tulcus, all of Abilene, and Leo Tulcus, Tim Tulcus and Russell Dodson, all of Brownwood; three sisters, Mary Allgood, Kathy Gober and Malissa Parson, all of Brownwood; and 18 nieces and nephews.

Edith Selma Pietzsch
SWEETWATER -- Edith Selma Pietzsch, 102, formerly of Roscoe, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Salem Lutheran Church in Roscoe with the Rev. Keith Kreitzer officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Roscoe.
Mrs. Pietzsch was born in Alleyton and attended school in Pyron and Brownlee. She moved to Roscoe in 1912 and was a homemaker. She moved to Sweetwater 2-1/2 years ago. She was a charter member of Salem Lutheran Church in Roscoe and was the widow of William Frank Pietzsch, whom she married in 1916 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Sax of Midland; two sons, R.D. Pietzsch and LeRoy Pietzsch, both of Roscoe; one half-sister, Ida Buttery of Roscoe; and two grandchildren.

Leonard Alldredge Jr.
BROWNWOOD -- Leonard Alldredge Jr., 68, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Alldredge was born in Duster and retired from the U.S. Army. He moved to Brownwood in 1978. He married Judy Irene Garms in 1992 in Brownwood and was a retired salesman of Holley Chevrolet. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars Chapter 3278 and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of Brownwood; four daughters, Linda Dicksan Smith of Grand Prairie, Sharon King of Brownwood, Karen Geary of Lewisville and Kari Pascal of Mansfield; three sons, Leonard W. Alldredge III of Eastland, Lane Alldredge of White Settlement and Denmond Alldredge of Flower Mound; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Scifres of Austin; one brother, Larry Alldredge of Henderson; and 15 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today in the funeral home.
