Dora Hart
ODESSA - Dora B. Hart, 93, of Winters and formerly of Odessa, died Saturday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hart was born in St. Louis and was a longtime Odessa resident. She taught school for 21 years and was a 76-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She moved to Winters in 1993. She was a member of Odessa First United Methodist Church and was the widow of Douglas John Hart, whom she married in 1928 in El Paso.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lou Hamilton of Winters; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

DeWitt 'Tex' Newton
CROSS PLAINS - DeWitt "Tex" Newton, 73, died Friday in Brownwood.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with John Swift officiating. Burial will be in Cross Plains Cemetery.
Mr. Newton was born in Rising Star and was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Mildred Maushardt in 1963 in Las Vegas, Nev., and worked as a drill instructor for Morrison-Knudson.
Survivors include his wife, of Cross Plains; two daughters, Pam Ferguson and Kathy Nyhuis, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Delma Coppinger of Cross Plains; and three grandchildren.

Ausencia Diaz Castro
Ausencia Diaz Castro, 73, died Friday at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Garza of First Baptist Mexican Church officiating. A prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. today. Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Castro was born in Abilene and married Rejino S. Castro in Albany in 1938. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Mexican Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; eight daughters, Marty Flores of Mesquite, Janie Jaime of Lubbock, and Natalia Castro, Teddi Gomez, Rebecca Castro, Mary Lim, Ester Castro and Barbara Garcia, all of Abilene; six sons, Rejino Castro Jr. of Ohio, John Castro of Garland, Ruben Castro and Peter Castro, both of Abilene, Michael Castro of Mesquite, and David Castro of Tennessee; three brothers, Leon Diaz of Abilene and Viviano Diaz and Cilverio Diaz, both of California; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

John F. Corder Jr.
John F. Corder Jr., 86, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in North's Memorial Chapel with Bob Connel officiating. Burial will be in Wolfe Valley Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Corder was reared in May and farmed in Hamby for three years. He married Bonnie Stewart in 1932 in Kingston, Okla. He moved to Abilene in 1942.
Mr. Corder worked for Red Elam Trucking Co. for five years and for West Central Drilling Co. for more than 45 years. He was a member of Central Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Gerald Corder of Grand Prairie and Tommy Corder of Seattle; a daughter, Barbara Powers of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Mable Lancaster of Rising Star and Vera Sudderth of Grand Prairie; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Billy Wayne Denison
OLD GLORY - Billy Wayne Denison, 68, died Saturday in Abilene.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Rule, with the Rev. Daniel Ramey and the Rev. Gean Crane of Aspermont officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home in Haskell.
Mr. Denison was born in Rule. He was a lifelong area resident who was active in the ranching, real estate and oil and gas businesses. He married Ida Marr Baldwin in Rule in 1953. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rule.
Survivors include his wife, of Old Glory; two sons, Bob Marshall Denison of Abilene and John Wayne Denison of Aspermont; two brothers, George Denison and Henry Denison, both of Duncanville; three sisters, Frances McDonald of Haskell, Florene Kelly of Big Spring and Tommie B. Reynolds of Spur; and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Smokey 'Oneita' Bullard
EARLY - Mrs. Smokey "Oneita" Bullard, 80, died Saturday at a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Alan Speed officiating. Burial will be in the Democrat Cemetery, directed by Heartland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bullard was born in Comanche County and went to school in the Newburg community. She married Floyd L. "Smokey" Bullard in Brownwood in 1934.
She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and worked as a school nurse for the Early Independent School District for six years. She also worked for the Bangs Nursing Home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Early.
Survivors include her husband, of Early; two daughters, Bobbie McCullough of Early and Ann Hunter of Bangs; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Miguel Soto
Miguel Soto, 81, died Sunday at his home.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy. 277 South. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with the Rev. David Matz officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Soto was born in Ballinger and was a longtime farmer and a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church. He married Maria Gomez in 1936 in Abilene; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include five sons, John Soto of Lubbock, Mike Soto of Odessa, Chindo Soto and Richard Soto, both of Abilene, and Raymond Soto of Huntsville; two daughters, Stella Nito and Rebecca Mendoza, both of Abilene; one sister, Frances Flores of Abilene; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Steve Hastings
Steve J. Hastings, 72, died Monday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with Greg Sinclair officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy. 277 South.
Mr. Hastings was born in Hale Center and attended school in Lamesa. He moved from Lamesa to Abilene in 1948 and was employed by Abilene Linen Supply from 1952-1972 and Dickie's Work Clothes and Rental Service from 1972-1988, when he retired. He was a Methodist and a veteran of World War II. He married Jewell A. Shults in 1946 in Lamesa; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Sean M. Hastings of Abilene; one daughter, Judy (Mrs. John) Rosenfeld of Abilene; one brother, Jimmy Hastings of Fallon, Nev.; one sister, Oleta Harper of Carlsbad, N.M.; and two grandchildren.

Billy Dewayne Payne
HASKELL - Billy Dewayne Payne, 60, died Sunday at an Albuquerque, N.M., hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God with the Revs. Eric Clark and J.C. Amburn officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mr. Payne was born in Dublin and was a diesel mechanic for Haskell Tractor Service. He was a Navy veteran. He married Berdie Bowers in 1974.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ricky Payne of Rusk, Elvis Payne of Big Spring and Jodey Voyles of Olney; two daughters, Loretta Wyatt and Cindy Boyd, both of Abilene; six brothers, Jerrell Payne of Abilene, William Payne of Graham, Danny Payne, Claude Payne and Robert Payne, all of Haskell, and Orval Payne of Dublin; four sisters, Juanita Jordon of Georgia, Wanda Faye Walton of Slaton, Deloris Brothers of Graham and Brenda Sue Parker of Knox City; and five grandchildren.
