Ethel Allan
HAMLIN - Ethel W. Allan, 89, Hamlin school teacher for 17 years until retiring in 1973, died Friday in an Anson hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hamlin First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Allan was born in Caldwell and lived most of her life in Jones County. She graduated from Anson High School in 1927, West Texas State College in Canyon and McMurry College in Abilene. She also taught school in Midland; Ochiltree, Stonewall, Throckmorton and Jones counties; and Carlsbad, N.M. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Organization and Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She was a member of Stamford First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Lora Whitaker of Jacksboro; five nieces and seven nephews; and many great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Evelyn Hitchcock
BRECKENRIDGE - Evelyn L. Hitchcock, 80, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Brent Lively officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mrs. Hitchcock was born in Aspermont and graduated from Breckenridge High School. She attended Abilene Beauty College and worked at Modernistic Beauty Shop and The Cottage for a total of 30 years. She was a member of the Ladies Group at First Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Charles Hitchcock of Graham; one daughter, Ann Pierce of Bedford; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels and left at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Billie Margaret Harrison
COLORADO CITY - Billie Margaret Harrison, 73, lifelong local resident, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services were held Saturday in Colorado City First Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Spears officiating. Burial was in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harrison was born in Colorado City and married Jimmy Harrison in 1942 in Corpus Christi. She worked as a secretary in the Colorado City school system and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Colorado City; one daughter, Patti Palmer of Snyder; one son, James Harrison of Montrose, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Addie Jewel Mann
STAMFORD - Addie Jewel Mann, 82, died Friday in a local nursing home after a long illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rochester Cemetery with the Revs. Jesse Morton and James Brigham officiating, directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mann was born in Haskell County and moved to Stamford in 1949. She worked as a nurse's aide. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and was the widow of Joseph W. Mann, whom she married in 1933 in Rochester.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Mann of Stamford; two sons, Earl Mann of San Angelo and Jerry Mann of Pearland; her mother, Matilda "Mama" Hearn of Rochester; three brothers, Herman Mann, Dalton Mann and Arlis Mann, all of Rochester; five grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Charles Ross Strain
COLORADO CITY - Charles Ross Strain, 69, lifelong local resident, died Friday in Big Spring.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Colorado City First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Handley Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Strain was born in Mitchell County and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Barbara Hamrick in 1967 in Colorado City. He was a cotton farmer and was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9178. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; one daughter, Misty Dawn Strain of Garland; two sons, Michael Brooks of Big Spring and Mark Brooks of Mesquite; one brother, John W. Strain of Colorado City; and three grandchildren.

Kathryn Anderson Miller
MAY - Kathryn Anderson Miller, 68, owner and operator of The General Store & Cafe from 1982 until retiring in 1997, died Friday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood with Aaron Lemond officiating. Burial will be in Heflin Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller was born in Brown County and was a lifelong May resident. She was a rancher and was active with the May Fire Department. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was the widow of Luther Herman Anderson, whom she married in 1946 in Goldthwaite.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Lancaster and Kathy Anderson, both of May; four sisters, Olene Ezzell of Snyder, Nelda Nagel of Pecos, Pearl Harvey of Midland and Martha Ezra of Ira; one brother, Gerald Ezra of May; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Oliver Norris McCarty
DUBLIN - Oliver Norris McCarty, 76, of San Saba, formerly of the Big Country, died Friday in a Kerrville hospital.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in San Saba First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Riley officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. in Erath Gardens of Memory between Dublin and Stephenville, directed by Harrell Funeral Home.
Mr. McCarty was born in Comanche County and served with the U.S. Navy's construction battalion during World War II. He married Annie Mae Peacock in 1946 in Stephenville and moved to San Saba in 1957. He worked as a salesman at Golding Motors in San Saba. He was a member of the 300-500 Society of Professional Salesmen and San Saba First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of San Saba; two sons, Oliver Norris McCarty of San Angelo and Kenneth Michael McCarty of San Saba; and five grandchildren.

Dr. Fenella Schaeffer
COLEMAN - Dr. Fenella Schaeffer, 62, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Coleman Cemetery with the Rev. Dick Schultz officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Dr. Schaeffer was born in Houston, where she grew up, and graduated from medical school in Galveston. She moved to Coleman in the early 1970s where she practiced medicine for several years until retiring. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was the widow of Vernon Schaeffer, whom she married in 1975.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Allen James Jr. and William David James, both of Coleman, Calvin Maurice Frey of Lubbock and Patrick Henry of Levelland; one sister; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

J.B. Jesse
EASTLAND - J.B. Jesse, 65, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Eastland Cemetery with the Rev. J.J. Fox Jr. officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Jesse was born in Eastland, where he was a longtime resident, and graduated from Eastland High School. He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War and also was in the reserves. He worked for the Texas Department of Transportation as a heavy equipment operator in Eastland until retiring due to illness. He was a member of the Eastland Veterans of Foreign Wars post and American Legion. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include one brother, Jimmy Jesse of Eastland; two sisters, Mary Jo Fox and Margaret Rose, both of Eastland; three nephews and two nieces; and two great-nephews and three great-nieces.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
