Dell Hopkins
Dell Hopkins, 50, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Church of Christ with Don Davis and Wally Bullington officiating. Burial will be in Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Hopkins was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1965. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1969 and taught and coached in Grapevine, Albany, Junction and Midland Greenwood schools. He also sold insurance for New York Life in Midland. He was a member and deacon of Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland and a Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include three sons, Josh Hopkins, Jeric Hopkins and Joey Hopkins, all of Odessa; four daughters, Julie Pearson of Jefferson City, Mo., and Jill Hopkins, Jenny Hopkins and Jordan Hopkins, all of Odessa; his mother, Viola Hopkins of Abilene; one brother, Phil Hopkins of Abilene; two sisters, Jana Teel of Paradise, Calif., and Phyllis Sparks of Abilene; and one grandchild.

Hazel Lea Hodges
Hazel Lea Hodges, 78, of Tye died Monday at a Merkel nursing center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy. 277 South, with Brady Bryce officiating. Burial will be in Tye Cemetery.
Mrs. Hodges was born in Royce City and attended school in George West. She moved to Abilene from El Paso in 1961 and to Tye in 1976. She was a hairdresser in San Antonio, a homemaker and a member of Tye Church of Christ and Good Neighbor Sam Club's Wildcats of Abilene. She married Dennis Hodges in 1942 in Corpus Christi.
Survivors include her husband, of Tye; two daughters, Sandra Kay Roath and Phyllis Dennise Boyd, both of Tye; one son, Dennis Keith Hodges of Cabot, Ark.; one sister, Joyce Montgomery of Kerrville; one brother, Leighton Griffith Jr. of George West; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Karla Marie Cook
BALLINGER - Karla Marie Cook, 39, of Grapevine and formerly of Ballinger, died Sunday at her home.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Rains-Seale Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Hubert Wade officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Olfen.
Mrs. Cook was born in Ballinger and graduated from Ballinger High School in 1976. She worked for Higginbotham's for several years before moving to Grapevine, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Allstate Insurance. She had been a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and attended St. Francis Catholic Church in Grapevine. She married John Cook in 1976 in Ballinger.
Survivors include her husband, of Grapevine; one son, David Adam Cook of Grapevine; her father and stepmother, Edwin and Eldoris Zly of Ballinger; five sisters, Ellen Jean Duke and Martha Rose, both of San Angelo, Laura Brevard of Grapevine, Eddie Wiese of Ohio and Becky Zly of Dallas; one stepsister, Joan Lange of Miles; one stepbrother, Herbie Goetz of San Antonio; a grandmother, Elanora Zly of Ballinger; and several other relatives.

Billy Murrel Medley
CLYDE - Billy Murrel Medley, 67, died Monday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Joplin and the Rev. Knox Waggoner officiating. Burial will be in Clyde Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mr. Medley was born in Sylvester and moved to Clyde as a child. He graduated from Clyde High School in 1947 and retired in 1992 after 42 years as an electrical technician for Gulf Pipeline. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Wanda Lavern May in 1950 in Clyde.
Survivors include his wife, of Clyde; three sons, Larry Medley of Spring, Steve Medley of Snyder and Gary Medley of Tulsa, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.

Horace Carter
COLEMAN - Horace J. Carter, 88, of Garland and formerly of Coleman, died Sunday at a Garland nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Coleman Cemetery with the Rev. Gene Mills officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter was born in Comanche County and attended school at Hazeldale. He lived in Coleman for several years. He worked for Consolidated Aircraft in Fort Worth during World War II and moved from Abilene to Odessa, where he owned a body shop, in 1948. He returned to Comanche County in 1972. He was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Association, the Shorthorn Cattle Association and First Church of God. He married Amanda Irene Clevenger in 1932 in Coleman; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Alden Carter of Garland and Jimmy Carter of Dallas; one sister, Ruth "Ruthie" Buford of Marble Falls; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tommie Ruth Kerr
RANGER - Tommie Ruth Kerr, 64, died Saturday in Oklahoma.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Kerr was born in Stephenville and worked at Eastland Manor Health Care as a nurse for many years. She grew up in Breckenridge and graduated from high school. She worked with civil league, youth baseball and other youth activities. She was past president of Ladies Auxiliary, Department of Texas District 8 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Order of the Eastern Star, Dallas Chapter. She married Billy Eugene Kerr in 1972 in Mexico; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include eight nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.

Buddy Thomas Gann
Buddy Thomas Gann, 38, lifelong Abilene resident, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Beginnings United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Floyd Leverson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Gann was born in Abilene and was a self-employed mechanic.
Survivors include two sons, Buddy Allen Gann and Brian Thomas Gann, both of Abilene; his parents, Thomas Franklin Gann and Ruby Mae Bowen, both of Abilene; three brothers, Thomas Franklin Gann Jr., Joseph Eugene Gann and Clifford Wayne Gann, all of Abilene; and three sisters, Pamela Kay McGough and Jennifer Michelle Grant, both of Abilene, and Velma Rose "Bonnie" Phillips of Fort Worth.

Floyd Gene Webb
SWEETWATER - Floyd Gene Webb, 71, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Larry Fluitt officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Webb was born in Matador and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from Matador High School in 1948 and attended West Texas State College. He married Billye Freeman in 1949 in Portales, N.M., and moved to Sweetwater in 1960. He retired after working for AT&T for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; two daughters, Becky Nugent of Abilene and Ann Faith of Lovington, N.M.; his father, Floyd Webb of Lubbock; one sister, Jonita Gilbert of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John Lopez
BROWNWOOD - John R. Lopez, 63, lifelong local resident, died Monday in a Dallas hospital after a lengthy illness.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Msgr. Benedict Zientek officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Lopez was born in Lockhart and married Minnie DeAnda in 1952 in Brownwood. He owned and operated John's Auto Service and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; one son, John Lopez of Arlington; two daughters, Roseann Jones of May and Diane Rainey of Brownwood; two brothers, Sam Lopez of Lewisville and Benjamin Delgado of Harlingen; one sister, Mary Alice Hernandez of Brownwood; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Minnie Lou Martin
LEVELLAND - Minnie Lou Martin, 84, formerly of Eastland County, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Perkins officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Long Branch Cemetery in Eastland County, directed by Geo. C. Price Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Martin was born in Eastland County and was a homemaker. She moved to Levelland in 1958 from Lubbock. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and was the widow of J.W. Martin, whom she married in 1936 in Carbon.
Survivors include one son, J.M. Martin of Levelland; two daughters, Mary Joe Harris and Darlene Horton, both of Lubbock; one sister, Ann Tharp of Ballinger; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
