Edna Hornsby
ANSON - Edna E. Hornsby, 77, of De Soto and formerly of Anson, died Monday in a De Soto nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Welch officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Hornsby was born in Funston and attended school in Anson. She worked in the restaurant business in Anson for several years. She moved, in 1969, to the Dallas area, where she was employed by Rawson Drug and Sundry until retiring in 1982. She moved to Lake Whitney in 1982 and De Soto in 1995. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary and was a Baptist.
Survivors include three sons, Ronnie C. Hornsby of Burnet, Keith Hornsby of Carrollton and Roger Hornsby of Cedar Hill; one brother, Troy Priddy of Hurst; one sister, Vera Taggart of De Soto; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ruby Tate Henson
Ruby Tate Henson died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Howard Ingram officiating. Graveside services will be at noon in Cross Plains Cemetery.
Mrs. Henson was born in Santa Anna and moved to Abilene in 1963. She married William Arthur Henson in 1965 in Abilene. She retired as a co-owner and operator of Henson Brace Co.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one daughter, Theresa Allen of Tye; one brother, Lilburn J. Tate of Cross Plains; two sisters, Ruth C. Keeney of Crane and Lois L. Purcell of Kermit; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Annie Ruth Holloway
PALM CITY, Fla. - Annie Ruth Holloway, 64, formerly of Abilene, died Monday in a West Palm Beach, Fla., hospital.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church in Abilene with the Rev. Wayne Oglesby and Robert Morgan officiating. Graveside services were held Wednesday in Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, Fla. with the Rev. Mike Wade officiating, directed by Aycock Funeral Home of Stuart.
Mrs. Holloway was born in Bexar, Ala., and worked as a bookkeeper for McCurdy, Faubus & Wright in Abilene for 17 years until retiring. She moved to Palm City three months ago from Abilene. She taught the ladies' and children's Sunday school classes for 32 years at Calvary Baptist Church in Abilene.
Survivors include her husband, Don Holloway of Palm City; one son, Mark Holloway of Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Carol Brannom of Palm City; one brother, Billie Lee of Moline, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Doris Lewis
BRECKENRIDGE - Doris Lewis, 83, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Elliott Street Church of Christ with Jim Cox officiating. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery, directed by Melton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lewis worked as a dietician at Eastland Memorial Hospital for eight years before moving to Breckenridge in 1968. She was a member of Elliott Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Lewis of Breckenridge; two daughters, Jan Clary of Arlington and Kay Westbrook of Kerrville; two sons, Phil Lewis of Glendora, Calif., and Mike Lewis of Eastland; five sisters, Jessie Pippen, Lois Pippen and Bobbie Cozart, all of Cisco, Bonnie Davis of Abilene and LaVerne McCorkle of Farmington, N.M.; three brothers, Elvis Nelms and John Nelms, both of Cisco, and L.J. Nelms of Bridgeport; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Avanell Mize
HOUSTON - Dorothy Avanell Mize, 74, formerly of the Big Country, died Friday in a Pasadena hospital.
Services were held Monday in Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale. Burial was in Mt. Sylvan Cemetery near Lindale.
Mrs. Mize was born in Colorado City and lived in Abilene, Sweetwater and Mineola before moving to Houston in 1984. She was a retired nurse's aide and was a member of Sagemont Baptist Church in Houston.
Survivors include one son, James Ronald Cox of Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters, Janice Gayle Oldridge of Dell City, Va., and Linda Kay Fulton of Houston; one sister, Helen Collins of Longview; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Esther Anne Melton
BANGS - Esther Anne Melton, 70, died Monday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood with the Rev. Terry Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Brownwood.
Mrs. Melton was born in Villisca, Iowa, and worked as a child nutrition program specialist. She moved to Bangs in 1984 and volunteered for the American Red Cross. She was a member of Bangs United Methodist Church and was the widow of Homer T. Melton Jr., whom she married in 1954 in Brownwood.
Survivors include one sister, Deloris Moore of Fort Worth; two nieces and three nephews; and many cousins.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Bernard Spruill
DE LEON - Bernard G. Spruill, 78, lifelong local resident, died Tuesday in a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in De Leon First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Satterwhite officiating. Burial will be in De Leon Cemetery, directed by Nowlin Funeral Home.
Mr. Spruill was born in Gorman and was a rancher. He married Ida Mae Moore in 1980 in Lingleville and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of De Leon; one stepdaughter, Glenda Smith of Lewisville; four brothers, Herbert Spruill of De Leon, Gordon Wayne Spruill of Evanston, Wyo., and Norman Spruill and Roy Dale Spruill, both of Odessa; one sister, Mary Beth Pack of Benbrook; and two step grandchildren.

Zelda Lorane Smith
BROWNWOOD - Zelda Lorane Smith, 86, died Tuesday in Cleburne.
The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Union Presbyterian Church with Dr. Norbert C. Peil officiating. Arrangements are being made by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Smith was born in Paris, Texas, and attended school in Waleetka and at Howard-Payne University. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church and was the widow of Brooke D. Smith, whom she married in 1936 in Brownwood.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Sollers of Harlingen, Marta Borden of Cleburne and Kathy McCutchen of Amarillo; one sister, Parmaline Fairey of Santa Maria, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to BITAS of Granbury or Hospice of Brownwood.

Allene 'Eva' Barnett
COLEMAN - Allene "Eva" Barnett, 90, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Coleman Cemetery with Dr. Richard H. Wood officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barnett was born in Edge in Robertson County, where she attended school, and moved to Whon in Coleman County as a teen-ager. She worked in the grocery business for many years in Coleman and later was employed by West Ward School and Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Whon Baptist Church until it closed and was the widow of Alonzo F. Barnett, whom she married in 1924 in Brady.
Survivors include three daughters, Idella B. Wristen and Billie R. Guthrie, both of Santa Anna, and Avis J. Vaughan of Lake Brownwood; one sister, Ruel Maddox of Post; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

James Norment
BROWNWOOD - James R. Norment, 84, died Wednesday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Eastlawn Memorial Park with the Revs. Billy Camp and Gary Day officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Norment was born in Charlotte, N.C., and married Cora Lee Vaughn in 1943 in San Angelo. He retired after a 24-year career with the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Brownwood in 1971 from Blanket and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; one son, H.A. Norment of Pineville, La.; one daughter, Cheryl Kay of Kodiak, Alaska; two sisters, Margaret Cochran of San Angelo and Alice Wagley of Modesto, Calif.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
