Gladys Fern Isbell
EASTLAND - Gladys Fern Isbell, 71, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Murray Cemetery near Carbon with Rex Boggs officiating.
Mrs. Isbell was born in Eastland County near Chaney. She married William A. Isbell in 1945 in Weatherford. She was a home maker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, William A. Isbell of Eastland, three daughters, Patricia Marler of Abilene, Wanda Alberts of California, and Ruby Sanders of Eastland, one sister, Jodie Burnett of California, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Frances Rowe
SANTA ANNA - Mrs. Frances Rowe, 77, died Sunday at a Temple hospital.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Revs. Raymond Jones and Marty Reed officiating. Burial will be at Santa Anna Cemetery directed by Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna. Family visitation will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 tonight.
Mrs. Rowe was born in Corsicana, Texas. She was a lifetime resident of Coleman County where she attended Gouldbusk and Voss Schools and graduated from Mozelle High School in 1937. She married Vernon Rowe in Santa Anna in 1938. She was a home maker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Rowe of Santa Anna, one daughter, Carolyn Mayo of Eldorado, Texas, one son, Byron Rowe of Midland, one sister Sue Richardson of San Angelo, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

George H. McGee Jr.
George H. McGee Jr., 69, died Tuesday at his home.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, with Rev. H.B. Terry, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. McGee was an officer with the Abilene Police Department for 38 years before his retirement at the rank of Captain.
Mr. McGee was born in Jones County and graduated from Hawley High School. He graduated from Cisco Junior College in 1977 and received a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Hardin-Simmons University in 1979. He received his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas in Arlington in 1982.
Mr. McGee married LaDonna Blanks Goff in Abilene in 1981. He was a member of Pi Gamma Mu, National Social Science Honor Society and Masonic Lodge #559 in Abilene. He was a retired member of the Abilene Police Association.
Survivors include his wife, LaDonna Blanks McGee of Abilene, two sons, Charles Wayne McGee of Abilene and David Michael Goff of Arvado, Colo., one daughter, LaDorna Marie Goff of Arlington, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to the donor's favorite charity.

Joe T. Box
Joe T. Box, 77, formerly of Abilene, died Monday at a Bedford nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Rev. Rick Doyle officiating and directed by Elliot-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Box was born in Rockwood, Texas, and moved to Abilene where he graduated from Abilene High School. He lived in Abilene most of his life but he lived in Pecos and moved to Bedford two years ago. He was a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines for 33 years.
Mr. Box married Exene Hailey in Abilene in 1941. He was a member of Elmwood West United Methodist Church and the Greyhound Retired Drivers Association. He was also a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Exene Box of Bedford, one daughter, Sunnye Murdock of Bedford, one brother, Charles E. Box of Abilene, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.

Thurston A. Thornton
CORPUS CHRISTI - Thurston A. Thornton, 77, formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday as a result of cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel in Corpus Christi with minister Gary Lowe officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.
Mr. Thornton was born in Ardmore, Okla. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He retired from Dyess Air Force Base after 42 years of civil service. Mr. Thornton was also a member of the Church of Christ and the Funk Flyers Association in Coffeyville, Kan. He was also a charter member of the Experimental Aircraft Association chapter 471.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Thornton of Corpus Christi, one daughter, Kay Howard of Denton, two sons, Thurston Thornton, Jr. of Abilene and Michael R. Thornton of Cadiz, Ky., one sister, Mrs. H. Ivan Dorothy Rainwater of Bowie, Md., one cousin, eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lloyd W. Waldrip
KNOX CITY - Lloyd W. Waldrip, 89, died Monday at a Haskell hospital after a long illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Turner, Rev. James Patterson, Rev. Bill Perkins, and Jim Dillon officiating. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Waldrip was born in Rule and had lived in Knox City for 81 years. He was a farmer. He married Aleene McBeath in 1932 in Knox City. He graduated from Knox City High School in 1929 and he was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, Rule.
Survivors include his wife, Aleene Waldrip of Knox City, two daughters, Mary Beth Sharp of Abilene and Martha Kay Welch of Crowell, one brother, Lynn Waldrip of Odessa, one sister, Ruie Dutton of Earth, Texas, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Elsie Margaret Estep Brown
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - Elsie Brown, 91, mother of an Abilene man, died Saturday at her home in Washington Va.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church in Altamonte. Burial will be at Glenhaven Memorial Park in Winter Park, Flo.
Mrs. Brown was a home maker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was born in Washington, D.C. She was the widow of Glenville Brown whom she married in Washington, D.C. in 1926. She was of English decent. She graduated from Eastern High School in Washington, D.C. and attended business school there. She was the president of the Washington Parent Teachers Association during World War II.
Survivors include one son, Oscar Brown of Abilene, one daughter, Ruth Preston of Washington Va., one brother, Elward Estep of Cheltenham, Md., two sisters, Adalaine McCarthey of Temple Hills, Md., and Arnell Ellis of Mission Hills, Md., eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Jack Cook
DALLAS - Jack Cook, 79, brother of an Abilene man, died Tuesday in a Richardson nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Restland Memorial Park directed by Restland Funeral Home.
Mr. Cook was born in Munday and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include one brother, M.H. Cook Jr. of Abilene, five sisters, Frances Ruyle, Lillian Cook, Edith Hayes, Artie Bolick, and Ina Baker, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Vera Criswell
RANGER - Mrs. O.R. Vera Criswell, 92, died Tuesday at a Mesquite nursing home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Ranger with burial in Merriman Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Mrs. Criswell was born in Moulton Boro, N.H. She attended school in Alva, Okla. She married Owen R. Criswell in 1921 in Woodward, Okla., and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ranger and United Methodist Women. She was a homemaker and mother. She was voted Woman of the Year last year in Ranger.
Survivors include four sons, Richard L. Criswell of Lake Leon, Dean Criswell of Fort Worth, Glenn Criswell of Wichita Falls, and Victor Criswell of Albuquerque, two daughters, Iris Hay of Fort Worth and Cherry Walter or Mesquite, one brother, Orlando Brown of Temple, one sister, Beryl Vonnahme of Marble Falls, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
